Are you looking at the level sensor in the tank? The black one next to the blue one is for the gauge.

LOL, I thought you'd gone a bit over the top with the snow foam when I first saw that pic! I didn't get any dust whatsoever but I was doing a panel at a time, working it in and then removing it straight away as the sun was out... Maybe it has gone off like I said or you bought a bad bottle, maybe give it a good shake and try it again?
-
LOL, I just read your thread about it Jon, also looks like Jim had the same problem on his red car when he used to use it all the time - maybe it only likes certain colours? Good point about how long it lasts, obviously I don't know yet but even though it's a wax I was planning to use Dodo juice over it anyway or maybe use a paint sealant next time I do it... I'd give it another go sometime just in case it was the wrong temp or maybe even the bottle you hads gone off? - being a natural product this could be posible I suppose

I know it's not a particuarly new product but I bought some and used it for the first time yesterday and was very impressed! I bought it on recomendation to fix swirl marks and take out some light scratches in the paint, I actually thought it would have to be machine polished with something more aggressive like the 3M stuff that body shops use but the Zymol has done the job perfectly, takes out all the scratches and polishes at the same time. It's also a natural product and smells of bananas, It's £12.50 in Halfords but they currently have 3 for 2 on everything cleaning related http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... ber=234476 Some good reviews also here - http://www.pistonheads.com/reviews/revi ... =52&id=246

I've bought a couple new from GPC over the years and they arrive in huge boxes

Old car scrappage scheme - it's kicking off!
Supercharged replied to Sonicriot13's topic in General Car Chat
Yup, they've suddenly started selling loads, didn't see a single on in Ipswich until 6 weeks ago, now see 2-3 regularly.... I think it's poor marketing (like we experience at the classic car show when people kept asking us for price lists / brochures etc) and the fact that the MK6 is out, people are coming to look at it and are finding the Scirocco a bit more interesting and better value for money as the GTi is not out yet. -
Yeah bit random but looks a very tidy install, looks so strange mounted that way too! At least it's got some room round the engine too unlike the Corrado, probably runs cooler I reckon. As for the intercooler Struan, remember air-con Golfs were like this out the factory - I agree it's not ideal though.

Welcome to the forum, they do run very hot but you shouldn't see it as high as that reguarly... What oil are you using? What mix of coolant? does the water temp sit at around 90 most of the time? Need to check the water system thoroughly first, check the pump and stat are working as they should, water flows into the rad ok once warm and the the fan kicks in when it should do etc...

Steady on Selina... do you want me to pop over one evening with my big tool (and timing gun?)

The offset must be way off if they won't fit over standard brakes!

16V running rich & adjustment screw broken argh!
Supercharged replied to mikkijayne's topic in Engine Bay
I'm fairly sure you can buy the screw by the way but obviously depends if you can get the remains of it out... As always i'd say Stealth are the best place to go to get a valver setup and the WUR adjusted but obviously worth checking everything you can first! Have you still got your TDI Corrado ? -
Hello - what do you mean by rubbing? on what? Pic might be useful if you can get one... The water pump issue is well known, just fit a later pulley and might also be worth buying new pulleys for the other stuff - cheap enough from VW
-
Hi mate, 321 498 203A contains a part (321 407 297) that doesn't fit the Corrado, it's for a MK1 but it doesn't look quite like that... Knowing GSF that kit will be for a Renault Espace and just happens to fit the C
-
Hi, yes you need 2 water pipes from a MK1 GTI - about £15 for the pair from VW Coolant, on the G60 you can just fill from the tank but you need to do this slowly, the flashing light will be the level sender on the tank, keep topping it up with the engine running then close the lid as it starts to get warm, wait for the stat to open and you'll see the level drop, shut the engine off and wait for it to cool, top up and run it up to temp again, whole system takes 5.5 Ltrs and 2.5 of that should be G12++ concentrate.

What is the 3rd wire on the stereo -> amp cable?
Supercharged replied to yeti's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
It's basically the switch, turn stereo on and it sends a voltage down that wire, when that voltage exists the amp is on (fairly sure it's constant and not just a pulse but hopefully someone will correct me if wrong) -
Hi Rob, yeah basically that's what G-werks have always recommended, hence using the 2 hoses and thread from a MK1 to delete which are nice and cheap... I'm running a mocal in that way with a thermostatic sandwich plate and the engine still runs up to temp nice and quickly without the OE heat exchanger. I think the only way to run both would be to use the filter above that was also used on the G40 Polo so maybe not too bad although the size is for a smaller engine, and as I said above the G60 filter is unique so that also worried me...
-
So they told you it's the same as a GTI and sold you a Polo filter !?! - I really hope that wasn't a VW dealer that sold you that!!! The G60 filter is unique to that engine and I wouldn't use anything else as it has internal differences to the GTI one to protect the charger although that one will be fine for a bit if your stuck... it will be easier to fit, that's for sure :D - A good tip on the G60 is to remove the drivers headlight to get to the oil filter. You need 037115561 - always buy genuine filters, especially Air and OIl.

Yep, as John says RainX is great and the new combined glass cleaner they do is supperb and much easier to apply. Forget Lupo wipers now as the TT ones are only slightly more expensive but work much better - improved design and seem to be much more suited the the angle of the Corrado screen
-
Hi mate, it's hard to tell with all the grease still on it but I think it's ok - remove this and should come up like new, then just check the surface the bearing runs on for scoring. That rusted bit around the bolts is a cover to protect the dustsheild on the rear of the bearing, cheap from VW and they recommend you change it with every bearing change although most garages don't bother and just order a bearing kit... Unfortunately it's usually the actual beam that bends and not the stub...
-
Hello, I barr sounds about right depending on how healthy the charger is.. the gauge will read negative when not on throttle - most gauges are Boost and Vac... IIRC the MFA should read about 5-600 on idle so maybe something wrong there but how does the car drive? pulls ok and smooth?
-
I won't ask how you've been passing an MOT test for the last 5 years  ABS brakes on Corrado's don't feel as good or positive as non ABS from my experience but there shouldn't be much difference... given the choice though I'd still have an ABS car than not, saved me a few times! The ABS relays and fuses on all RHD Corrado's are located just behind the glove box, you can see these when you remove the lower shelf and look up, makes sense when you think about it as they are then close to the ECU and the pump / valve unit. Like you say it probably is just a fuse or dead relay if you're not getting power at all, maybe shorted out if the matrix has ever gone or a water leak from a badly fitted windscreen? The other common issue is the ribbon cable inside the valve unit going brittle and cracking but I'd check the above first then either take it too VW or maybe a specialist like C&R or Stealth who are used to looking at ABS issues on Corrado's.

Yandards' 16VG60 - Running Report 23 Jul 15
Supercharged replied to Yandards's topic in Members Gallery
Looking good mate - probably worth just sticking a brand new rad in there, maybe a VR one if it fits the slam as it will be a fairly important part with that engine. -
Hold on a minute mate... have you actually gone through the ignition timing procedure yet? If not then do that before stripping things down again, it's probably just out slightly....
-
Yep, air leak or ignition timing not set correctly...
