  1. Thats just a casing part number - the gearbox code is at the top of the box near the selector tower...
  2. Dr Shrick bought the rights from Pierburg / VW for the VSR to produce the VGI
  3. I'm confused.... It looks like you are trying to fit regular springs to coilovers at the back - I've not seen any normal Koni TA shocks with the perch adjustment rings like that, only the 3 or 5 step circlip type...
  4. You won't have done any damage running a tooth out on the cam, lucky it wasn't a 16V tho!
  5. Thats not the answer to everything Mr Toad... I have a feeling Lisa hasn't told the garage who she works for yet...
  6. Hmmm - it's a big job doing the head on a G60 and i'd say 13 hours is probably right especially as it had 'gone' so there'd be a fair amount of cleaning to be done... What is worrying tho is that sensor isn't connected so I have no idea how they will have set up the timing, idle and CO levels without the ISV working (the ISV is switched by the throttle close switch) The spade connector for the oil temp could have just dropped off tbh but with the ABS light on as well makes me think they didn't do much testing before it left the workshop - this could just be an earth or maybe they knocked one of the connectors on the suspension turrets off while working - worth checking! I'd be taking it back to them, getting them to sort it and also do another oil and coolant change while it's in...
  7. Tyre pressure?? Faulty shock?? Loose wheel bearing?
  8. Hmmm - thats not quite right, all VW's cooling systems work so when warm the coolant should stay as close to 90c as possible (bang in the middle of the gauge), if it hits 100 under normal conditions (or doesn't reach 90) then something is wrong.
  9. Sounds like a microswitch problem (within the mech) but only when installed in the car! - strange!
  10. Hub nut is a 12 point 30mm - you get one in the Halfords 150 Pce set.
  11. Yep, usually you unplug the dim-dip resister when installing the uprated loom so maybe the new setup needs this?
  12. http://www.johnmitchellracing.co.uk/
  13. Might be worth trying a new set of clocks maybe?
  14. Give Bill Brockbank a call - Badger5
  15. My mate did my powerflex ones (that, according to the instructions should just push in) using a 5 ton vice and a massive snap-on screwdriver... he still nearly managed to stab himself in the process and I had already nearly put myself in hospital the night before trying to get them in... I assumed the vag ones would be easier but maybe now - good luck! :)
  16. I think it's the company you mention...used to be GTI Engineering and was bought out by Dave Brodie... ..or it could be Brian Ricketts who used to work for GTI Engineering and setup a company called BRM I have heard there chips are much better than SNS but never tried one, I think Jay Renshaw used to run his G60 on a BBR
  17. Please could someone with Autodata post up the data for the above engine - 1990 AAU 1043cc Polo TIA!
  18. Ah! They are late Corrado / MK3 Golf, too long for you unless you go to a factors are try and find some inbetween... (350mm - 435mm) I would just make up some metal pipe as per the pic to convert - then it will be like it would have been out the factory with those brakes. EDIT ^ your original brakes should look like this unless the hose outlet is different on a 16V caliper?
  19. I'm more confused than you now! Wondering if Toadster cut the hoses and the bit you can see is the female side of the old hose - see pic in link http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info. ... cts_id=472 Otherwise I reckon he has sold you some tractor brakes!
  20. Hmmm - so is that pic of yours or not? If so highlight the bit you mean...
