  1. Yeah, easy but maybe worth ordering new fixings too...
  2. Thats the sign of a knackered fan switch mate but sounds like the wiring in your case needs looking at...
  3. Yes to both - VW state 2.5 Ltr's of fluid should be used when bleeding ABS cars.
  4. Nice one Jimbo altho a bit of a git about the ABS... My G60 went straight thru too last week, not a single advisory and emmisions were really clean!
  5. Anything just over 12V is fine - thats what bulbs are designed for and will produce the best light at this voltage (ie white rather than yellow) Halfords Super Brilliance are well worth a try (as are any new bulbs if yours are more than 3 years old) and also check the lenses are not pitted and the reflectors in good condition.
  6. One is early, one is late... Looking at Yan's car this weekend he has one of each too - strange thing is a VW garage actually fitted the early one as a replacement and the other is late :? I'm sure it doesn't matter too much is they are both working but VW state in the workshop manual that if interchanged, they should be done as a pair! Mk4 is the way to go tho!!
  7. Yip - you may need to push up on the wishbone for it to release... Make sure you replace that bolt if worn - I had a rusty one cause play which lead to the BJ failing!
  8. Hmm - should be ok then, cheers for that mate! Was the one that came off yours a single piece jobby?
  9. Does anyone have the part number or have a pic of the 1 piece G60 gasket??? ETKA now lists it as 4 seperate gaskets the same as a GTi which I don't think will fit? Anyone know whats going on or have a spare?
  10. Fla - the bottom is the larger diametre is it not (talking about the rears I take it?) Anyways - cut the bottoms off as the top part screws into the dust boot thing...
  11. A light bulb stuck on would do this - need to start pulling fuses while measuring the drop...
  12. VAG only really unless you get your current one copied... you will need all the seals etc to go with it... Best to maybe give GPC a call and get them to send it over
  13. Only the really late MK4's were CAN, if it has a OBD2 plug then it's obviously not.. (CAN systems use a 'Quadlock' connection)
  14. All Corrado VR's were OBD 1. Sounds like you have covered most things but have you tried a new ignition switch??? Re. the imob, the engine should start but then cut out after a second or two if the ECU is not seeing the reader coil but if you using the original CP ecu then should be fine... maybe worth trying the other one tho as it's available!
  15. Maybe ECU relay but you'd expect the engine to cut out, change it anyways tho if original.
  16. Hi Jon, there are a few sites that do self adhesive ones, mostly for rounded bumpers on things like Jags, MX5's etc and i think these are roughly the sort of size you are after...
  17. Yeah the ABS relays are behind the glovebox - quite high up... The ECU is in the pass side footwell - opposite to where the bonnet release is That error could be caused by a bad battery but I would also check the ecu and relays for water damage.
  18. Yeah, should be held in by sealant along the top
  19. It will but it won't start with it unplugged completely...

    pinking

Pinking / pinging should be fairly high pitch - like marbles hitting each other... If it's not the above it could be an exhaust heatsheild - or the one at the bottom of the cat maybe??
  21. Coolrado - quick question matey - is it just the pulley and the non a/c 'pas' belt thats needed for this or anything else like a spacer etc? Does the toothed belt in the kit still remain the right length if setup like this or does it require a shorter one?
  22. I think the above is normal tho (on cut out) - the oil light would flash as it does with ignition on but engine not started... I would try another switch anyway as it's on 150k, it sounds like an electrical fault as long as fuel is getting to the engine ok?
  23. Yeah could be the coil again - especially if they used a non genuine one when they changed it... Do you have any breakdown cover? you really need to get a diagnosis before spending any more cash...
