  1. Yeah that ain't good at all - VW do a flush with a corrosion killing element, might be worth a go with that, maybe change the metal water pipes too... I've seen worse but not on a VW That top hose, again - never seen anything like it but it looks original... I think the stat must have been stuck shut to cause that or you have too much pressure or a blockage Does it heat up ok now mate? stat open, rad get hot and fan cut in and out holding temp around 90c?
  2. INA is a good make but VW also sell a kit including belt, tensioner, nut and washer - last time I bought a G60 one it was less than £25
  3. With coilovers just the top mounts (forget the plates as they are not needed with coilies) - get a new bottom bolt too if not with the kit
  4. dishwasher - where I clean all my car parts, lol!
  5. Always change the rear mounts - you don't realise how worn they are until you sit new ones next to them as in the pic, also change the top spring plate at the rear as i have seen some fairly dangerous examples recently! On the subject of suspension I have recently binned my FK konigsports on the TDI for standard VR6 Gas shocks and blue H&R springs (meant for standard shocks) - 40mm drop and great ride quality again!
  6. - at least £5-600 I'd say as you don't know if the charger is serviceable... deffo rebuild before selling if history is unknown, it's routine servicing at the end of the day and not a huge amount of money on the scale of things.
  7. New ones are ZF (Sachs) i think - VWspares may be able to source them... On a 16V it might be worth getting the ABF version and doing the widebelt conversion
  8. Yep local body shop or VAG dealer - your local VW must have somewhere they use, usually share a machine with an Audi dealer...
  9. Yeah - they offered the conversion - a 1.9 16V IIRC, got an advert somewhere...
  10. Yeah the G60 one is very similar but one of the outlets is different, VR one is completely different like a MK3 Golf unit. These things have various valves etc inside and can't be run dry - new ones come pre filled with oil but I would always prime by hand before starting up and run with the cap off the res for a bit to let the air escape first.
  11. Halfords Pro mate - the quality is so high that a lot of garages use these now! Lifetime warranty too and they will swap anything that breaks straight away without question (altho I have yet to break anything in mine after 5 years) The 150pce set is really the one to get as it has nearly everything you need - buy it when it's £99 tho (on offer reguarly) Other things to consider - set of flexi-head ratchet spanners (Halfords again) and some Irwin Bolt Grippers (screwfix / machine mart)
  12. Bingo - my last contract was 6 months parking in a multistory with really nasty / harsh bumps - knackered FK suspension didn't help either! I've now gone back to standard VR (Gas) shocks and H&R springs and the ride quality is superb in comparision!
  13. It's in the instruction manual mate - just remove the boot cover panel thing, plus the plastic lever and then turn...
  14. Boost, they are just over £200 + vat exchange !!!! thats for a valver - cheaper than a G60 one tho :(
  15. Haha - Yeah, lol I didn't actually think about that... I'll have to send you a pic of the sump - very lucky indeed!!!
  16. It's the MK3 ones you want - look on VWspares site for the different types and OE numbers...
  17. Might be worth sticking up the engine code etc mate as somewith with Autodata could just post up that page,...
  18. Cheers guys, no they were the originals I think (may have done 270k miles afaik..) - didn't seem to be done up too tight or anything either as the rubber bits weren't compressed too much... I actually bought brand new ones for the G60 that I would have used but as they cost £88 the pair with all the bits (!!!) I didn't want to just waste them if they were going to bend again so I used some that I got with a ARB kit that were poly'd and just swapped the rubber insert over as the poly one was for a bigger bar... Car seems ok but I will keep an eye on it... Furkz - cheers mate, I think mine was too low and it's at a much better height now but certainly wasn't anywhere near as low as yours!
  19. Yeah sounds like the wrong ones matey - these are the ones I had for sale basically...
  20. Anyone else had this? Was changing a loads of suspension etc on the TDI today and found both front drop links to be belt (like banana's!), they are the standard ones with standard bushes, original ARB.... just wondered why this had happened? maybe because the car was too low? Anyways, I have changed these for some I had kicking around that are not offset that looked like they would be a better fit - not sure exactly what they are meant to do - just hold the arb up??
  21. Supercharged

    Help.

If you use them once they have basically paid for themselves!
  22. Good time to fit the fixed steering column matey with a new switch... There is a new late door handle at Antics, shall i see if it's a drivers one?
  23. Supercharged

    Help.

Good thread title... Irwin bolt grippers are what you need with a bit of Plusgas.
  24. New brake masters are also alloy - as above they are much less prone to corrosion than the originals
