  1. Yep, sounds like the officer was just doing his job correctly and also looking out for this guys health! A bad exhaust manifold leak (or downpipe) will potentially mean that him or any passengers are breathing in excessive levels of CO - not good at all!
  2. Usually corrosion to the connection to the reader coil causes this (starts for 2 secs then dies) - use the search to find a simple remedy... I would change the ignition switch, ecu and FP relays anyway tho if they are 12 years old.
  3. Apparently they are worth £100 if you cut out the middle men!
  4. There is only one dizzy mate unless you don't have one at all (ie a coil-packed G60 - very rare indeed!) Can you take a pic of yours? have you tried to plug the new one in??
  5. Yeah get G60 or (corrado) VR6 calipers / carriers, same 54mm piston size as the ones you have at the moment so master cylinder will be fine etc... Then you will just need new G60 (4 stud) discs and pads + might as well get some braided hoses
  6. http://www.hawkin.com/find/product-is-07707?aid=WEBG01
  7. Yep, thats a digifant distributor so will fit a G60 fine.
  8. If they are bad enought to actually fail an MOT then the car should feel like new when changed (depending on the state of the rest of the suspension of course)
  9. It's not worth the risk, with trade discounts thru TPS the parts are only a couple of quid more or sometimes cheaper Pattern water pumps don't fit very well, my mate bought a VW spares one and the casting pushed that metal plate onto the intermediate shaft and it leaked too despite being brand new!
  10. Nice one mate, glad i didn't lock it now - cheers for letting us know what happened as i'm sure this will happen again to someone at some point!
  11. Sure it's not blown again? Maybe dead fuel pump or blocked filter?
  12. For some reason these gaskets seem to leak on 9A's - easy job to replace tho, just 3 allen head bolts I think but you might need to move the OE heat exchanger to get access... Also check it's not one of the senders ontop of the filter housing as these can leak a lot of oil when they go - usually right at the top where the metal meets plastic
  13. Yeah the rail of 1/2 inch drives splines that they do doesn't fit some of the bolt locations - you need a double depth one or a set...
  14. Don't worry about the coil yet, get the batt on charge and get a new switch - may well fix it as mine went exactly the same way
  15. I'll go and look for it now and PM you
  16. No, that button flicks between the different readings, the switch is is on the front of the same stalk
  17. Hi mate - good to meet you the other day... http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu do coloured wire with tracers, I also had a link to the VW wiring specs but can't find it at the moment.. I think looms are going to become an issue with Corrado's in the next 5 years - especially the older cars and G60's because of heat...
  18. You simply move the switch from 2 to 1, holding the switch to that side for 2 seconds resets the counters.
  19. I like the way you subscribed before posting a question - we might have to make that compulsary! :D I reckon your battery is dead tbh, I'd get it on charge anyway - starting the car puts the most strain on it, have you got a multimeter? Then, with the battery good the starter (if good) should crank then engine - the only things that would affect this is the ignition switch not working or an alarm / wiring issue - you can test this by looking for 12V with a meter at the plug that goes to the starter soleniod (thick red and black wire which comes from the ignition switch) Probably worth getting an ignition switch anyway as it's a common point of failure and may well be the issue your having, you can test it without actually fitting by just plugging in and turning with a screwdriver (make sure the key is in and steering lock OFF before driving!)
  20. Yep, cheap enough new. Piggy backing doesn't work becuase of the way the circuit works (they earth thru the head on a valver)
  21. Ah ok - well if it;s the in tank pump then I should have my old pierburg sender kicking around - will dig it out, £25 posted?
  22. Yeah, maybe not unlikely that a 15 year old part dies shortly after a new belt and fluid... That fluid does go blackish with age but as you said brown I wonder if there is some rust somewhere in the system (worth checking this before new pump time) I've had noises after changing fluid but this goes quickly (I always prime by hand first as they don't like being run dry) but the noise you are getting sounds like a valve or bearing as you say...
