Dom, yep thats the part that I bought and is a direct swap for the 4 cyl wishbone bushes and I assume it's the same for the VR, the hole in the middle of the bush is smaller but the bolt fits fine so you just do away with the sleeve you get with the original setup (this part seems to be missing from the manuals and altho it shows on ETKA it's 'part number unknown')
-
Have you checked the belt and fluid level?
-
What car and engine was this - Corrado G60?? How did you fix it then - CO pot?
-
If you have a search this has happened to a few of us now after the headlight switch has failed and shorted internally... you'll need a new switch but you can repair the loom using repair wires from VW.
-
There is a plastic bush missing - likely to be in the car somewhere I would have thought!
-
Check the belt tension and fluid level first
-
Stock VW discs are very good and last ages, if you want good performance buy some Ferodo DS2500 pads - not cheap tho at £75 a set. Other option is to upgrade to a full 288mm setup off a late Golf VR which uses much larger pads - search on here for info
-
New alt's don't usually come with pulleys so either it's the wrong one or he damaged it taking it off... Best thing to do is to have a look, you need an M8x80mm bolt to de-tension the belt, nice and easy on a VR!

Nice one mate! :thumbleft:

VR6 Water leak left side nr sbelt PUMP FAILED AGAIN & AGAIN!
Supercharged replied to was8v's topic in Engine Bay
You don't learn mate do you  It's likely a VW dealer in your area will have one on the shelf, FFS take you own advice and buy a proper one! -
Anything around £200 is about right - your looking at 3 hours plus alignment if everything goes ok and comes apart like it should.
-
It's fairly self explanatory really Mike :D (wasn't me that moved it btw..) R32's a bit 'yesterday' isn't it tho mate?? Storm have fitted an R36 in a MK2 and Supercharged it... you want to get yourself an R40
-
without knowing what it is you may need to swap the yellow and red wires over.
-
Jesus - that will be rusty top caps causing that!
-
How about that P reg VR6?? rarer than a Storm and bargain price!
-
Have a look at this thread for the autodata - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=52131&hilit=16v+timing+marks
-
Ah ok - just thinking it could do with being checked by someone who really knows these engines... Have another look later and try and see the other flywheel mark - when the crank pulley mark is lined up does the cam also hit the mark?? Other thing to do is to check TDC by using a long screwdriver down the sparkplug hole.
-
Hmmm... the flywheel should be more accurate but both this and the pulley at the other side only go on one way. How close are you to Stealth?
-
All Corrado's have 6 hoses
-
At 33k I'd get it cracked open and checked asap.
-
Ah wait a minute - the mark on the flywheel should be a O rather than a I - the line is the 6 degree mark for timing. Back at the cam side, does the line on the crank drive belt pulley line up with the arrow on the outside of the lower plastic cover??
-
Hi there, first check the blue / black grommets for the badges are in place and the Corrado script badge sits tightly against the bodywork.
-
Nah thats wrong, static timing needs to be as per factory with the KR cams. 16V cam timing is easy so the belt was obviously changed by a muppet - if it was a garage then it wants burning down! You should be able to correct this without doing a complete belt change but I would also check the cam to cam timing!
-
Check the ABS ECU for water damage before doing anything else!
-
So which is the best rear WB / CA bush to use?? Vortex quote 8N0 407 181 which doesn't exist over here We have a choice of - 1J0 407 181 or 8N0 407 181 B
