Removing/replacing ftront wheel ABS sensor
Supercharged replied to Roger Blassberg's topic in Drivetrain
The original ones came cased in metal and these kind of rust-weld themselves to the hub... If it's knackered then you can destroy the sensor to get it out but be careful of whats around it... heating it up can be a good idea if it's completly stuck in there... -
I reckon water is running to the rear becuase te drains are blocked... MT90 by Redline seems to be the stuff to use - demon tweeks sell it
-
Thats all it can be tho i think - what sort of oil are you using? I'd check the oil feed and return pipes to the charger and the connections on top of the oil filter housing...

Replaced headlight switch... and potential disaster

Hello - it's most likely the earth wire mate as I've seen this happen 3 times now... the brown wire is thin and will not take current which it gets when a switch shorts inside. If the rest of the loom is ok you can get the dealer to make up a wire to fit with the proper pins etc then stick a 3amp fuse in line too to prevent it happening again! This happened to me after fitting a brand new switch from a dealers excess stock I got at a show for a quid - this is why I keep telling people to buy new switches, old / unknown ones are a fire hazzard! -
Mike, I'd have to point out that Grant Motorsport are in serious financial trouble according to talk on other forums - I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole especially after the TSR fiascos...

Erm, not on the trim panel no - it should just collect on the main frame then run down the drains...

head gasket or cracked head...... (inc Pics)
Supercharged replied to adamukcorrado's topic in Engine Bay
Ah ok so it didn't blow a gasket of anything... TBH the pics don't look bad at all - could be just a blocked breather... Maybe worth taking it back to where you had the work done for a check? -
I'm sure someone will have a broken one tho that you can nick the part off...
-
That first one, the T shaped screw goes thru the spare hole on the water pump and thru the lower cambelt cover which is then held in place with a nut...

head gasket or cracked head...... (inc Pics)
Supercharged replied to adamukcorrado's topic in Engine Bay
What was the original problem with the car - ie did it need a new head or had the gasket failed and how? -
Blimey that is clean! Mine was a horible burned orange colour... What year is is - VW fitted the copper gaskets from 89 onwards to G60's
-
Nice one Matt, glad you got it sorted!
-
Note the dealer will sell a single lead if needed but if they've not been done in your ownership then I'd buy new... Beware of ECP leads - absolute cack... The Quantum ones (VW's replacement) have now been re-designed and are better apparently but i've yet to try a set...
-
Hello mate - It should absorb water, one of the drain holes is blocked... You need to get a gear cable of a bike or similar to unblock it...
-
Show prices are good but they are rude on the phone and I get cheaper prices thru VW anyways...
-
Andy T, Try paint thinners - you'll soon find out

Thats a rotex isn't it... Hmmm - cone filter sitting in a hot engine bay - good one!
