  1. Ok, but never come accross that myself.

Have installed 4 Sony headunits - from old to bang-upto-date - none of which had this feature.... and since this is about Sony headunits...

Think in total I've done around 15 installs - and never come accross a permnament setting-saved headunit. Yes, some remember for a few minutes because of capacitors inside, but not seen one that lasts longer.

  2. No it doesn't, it means it keeps the stereo on, running off the perm. live, for the set amount of time, once the ignition live is turned off....

Settings only remain on a stereo if the permnament live is indeed permnament....

  3. Sounds like you're missing a permnament live feed.

It's unlikely to have been cut... it may be hanging somewhere down the back of the dash.

Just hope to god it was taped up when removed from the last stereo.....

  4. is there a setting on in the stereos setup menu to allow you to change the memory settings. some stereos do have such settings

There isn't on any of the Sony's I've used. What sorta setting, anyway, Nige?

  5. I've got a Kenwood Mask on mine - same sorta thing, I've actually wired it so that the stereo is on no matter what - and it makes me mask it (its a manual one) every time I leave the car to turn it off.

  6. imho 7" et35mm looks too narrow on the rear of the corrado.. if it was me i would go for min of 7 1/2 et35,, to fill the arches and run a 205 section tyre on them..

Though it depends on how you want your tyre to look. I'm running 7½" ET35s 17s with 205 tyres - the tyre is a bit stretched and the rim-protection is non-existant, so I've kurbed them to buggery!

When the tyres finally fade, I will be going up to 215 or even 225s if the rims will take it, just so I can keep them happier with my dodgy parking techniques.

But then again, wheels like Darren's look phat with stretched tyres on...

  7. Finally, once ive got the battery in, how do I check the alternator? Is it as simple as putting a multimeter across the terminals of the battery with engine running and making sure it reads higher than 12v?

When the engine isn't running, your battery should read just over 12volts. With the engine running, you should be getting at least 13.4volts with a voltmeter accross the terminals.

  8. Sounds like the common permnament/ignition live problem.

I would check your red and yellow power wires.

If you have just used an ISO block, you will need to swap the Red and Yellow wires - and hopefully that should be it.

If it's still not working, I'd get a voltmeter out and check your ignition live only works with the ignition, and that your permnament live is indeed permnament.

  9. First Aid kits were present in all European Corrados. Just most of them don't have them in the car anymore.

Not sure about the US though.

They are quite rare now, but do occasionally pop up on ebay.

  10. so anyone with info please respond or E-mail me at

People, there is no need to put your email address on a public forum.

When writing your message, if you select "Notify me when a reply is posted", every reply to this topic will be emailed to the address you registered with - and I've set it up so it sends the actual post too - not just a notification!

You'll find the majority of users would prefer to keep their email address private and reply on the forum, rather than a 1-on-1 email, to which the details everyone else looses out on.

Sorry I can't help you, potatonet, but I'm sure someone will be able to respond on here soon.

  11. How will you see the needle? (may be a silly question but hey)

A good point - I have white needles! - will they supply red ones also??

White needles do show up on white dials - but changing them is easy.

You'll have to pull off all your needles anyway - whilst off, simply scratch off the paint at the back of the needle prism and paint on your own. Nail varnish works quite well (you need a gf for this, or lots of balls to walk into Boots and buy some lol).

This is how I made the needles blue in my MX5. Took about 1 minute each. Easy peasey.

The needles are front lit too.... this does pose a problem. If we have any lighting, the dials will appear, rather than the indiglow doing its stuff. But it does mean you can see the labelling at the bottom (handbrake, etc) and, of course the needles.

Would more people be interested if it was original black dials with indiglow at night? Then lighting could remain (and changed to blue if you want) and wouldn't show up the dials... Just a thought. Will think further though.
