  1. make sure you take it off and wash under there now and then or it'll get real nasty after a while..believe me..some people are just dumb.

Hmmm, if I didn't read the rest of the thread, you'd think that belonged in some Men's Health Issues' forum...

  2. in halfords they have a book with the years that vw used what colour of paint might be able to track down the colour there :)

Not a very good list, though, as mine wasn't there!

I found it as "Brombeer" under the Audi section.

  3. You should also have a sticker on the inside of the driver's side front wing.

You may have to remove the airbox to see it.

Bright orange sticker with the name of the paint and a barcode IIRC.

  4. It is a criminal offence to leave the scene of an accident, so sometimes worth seeing if any CCTV has caught the fleeing scum.

Whether they'll let you or you'd be able to see the plates is another matter.

However, if you get evidence by your own means, the Police cannot act on it - the gulity party has to own up.

Nothing saying you can't be a bit persuasive though.... ;)

What a wonderful world we live in.

  5. I need to redo my sub enclosure, its about 3 years old and originally from my MX5!

Hans, could you send me the details for the enclosure on the left of the boot? I need 28 litres (1 cubic foot) for my 10inch sub.

  6. {wandering ever-so slightly OT...} how come open slats? Did you open/replace them??? Just checked mine and they are as closed as a closed up thing :?

That's how they were when I got the car.

Either its had a wee accident, or a previous owner just replaced them with open G60 vents.

Its still a VR bumper though.

Open slatted grill too, so maybe the previous motorway tourer to me wanted to help airflow as much as possible. The car certainly hasn't had cash spared on it from the history it has.

But yes, OT now - sorry, my fault.

    *Mods self*

  7. I was gonna say insufficient markings on the speedo, and no "MPH" printed.

So technically a fail for an MOT.

Whether it would or not is another matter.

However, I've just noticed there are tiny markings for the non-labelled tens, so that should be ok. Still no "MPH" label though

I am warming to them though, do look quite trick ;)

Intruiged to see them in the dark though!

The polished section should be a brighter green - could be a really cool effect.

  8. Lucky my slats are open under the bumper. I've rigged up some tubing with the aid of wonderful cable-ties. VR6 ones are normally closed, IIRC.

And yes, it does make a very noticeable difference. The car is a bit more perky when its hot, and even quicker in the cold than before.

  9. I have a Bel Euro 550 myself, then my SatNav has all the GATSOs and Red-Light cameras in its database, warning me 30 seconds (no matter what speed I'm going) and then 10 seconds before I hit it. Very handy! But not the cheapest option ;)

  10. It may not be a perfect alarm, but the add-on options are impressive and the life-time warranty is worth its weight in gold.

I had problems with mine when it was first installed - but sorted in 10 mins and been perfect ever since.

  11. Just park inbetween 2 spaces and annoy everyone but it saves your doors from being chipped / dented .

But be careful not to get a parking ticket.. :?

Check the signs, as some car parks can be very anal about it.

Get some exercise and park in the very quiet part of the car park where they probably won't care :)

My worst experience was in a Tescos which I'd never been to before (well, this store, not Tescos ever). Stupidly, the car park wasn't exactly flat, and I came back to find an abandonned trolley resting against my wing with a nice big scratch.

And funnily enough, the RAV4 two spaces to the right of my car was no longer there.

    Draw your own conclusions.

In Derby there's a secure car park where every space has a cushion-like barrier betweem every space - makes it a little more difficult to get out, but impossible to get parking dents.

Every space also has a sensor, and when you leave your car, you scan your ticket and it locks the bay. They then guarantee against it being stolen, else they'll pay for all costs. 'Tis cool - and you can only get access to the building with a ticket. Same price as a usual multi-storey too.

  12. The chin-spoiler is the standard 50mm VR6 one.

I have pondered about putting the 90mm one on as I don't want to lower the car at the moment...

If there's anyone with a 90mm chin spoiler but a lowered car, and would like a swap - let me know.

Its not in great condition, and there's a slight bit of overspray, but I would clean that off before the swap :)
