  1. With some (excellent) help from Jim (jims16v) - who skillfully laid out the MPH etchings, here are the dials I will be installing.

A mix of Han's blue (the font) and the black dials (the red gradients, etc).

Jim used Photoshop for the MPH markings, then I used Paint Shop Pro for the rest (which I am more familiar with). :)

  2. That's cool... the litres I don't mind, since petrol is served in litres in the UK anyway. I like the font and the lines - looks good. Might have to loose the pictures though ;)

km/h is a problem though - mph would be different markings, and without mph the dials would be illegal to use in the UK :(

What other sets do you have?

  3. Flames out of your exhaust will mean your timing is way out - and as you said, it the opposite of pinking.

Timing is an arse to explain, but I think of opposite of pinking is retarding towards TDC (top dead centre).

I don't think this will actually do any damage to your engine - unlike pinking.

If you have a CAT, it won't be good for that, and you are overfuelling which will lead to worse MPG and a fuel-smell.

But as you say, flames are cool. I did this to my MX5 - great fun... 8)

  4. I have the ready-made loom by PD Motorsport - plus Hella 100watt Ice-Blue bulbs.

    I can see!!!!! :)

The Hella's didn't add much to the already-brighter lights, just made them a little brighter and more white than yellow.

But yes, I'd thoroughly recommend uprating the headlight loom. :D

I've also found the ampage drain on the system is less so I no longer get my radar detector flashing "Low Volts" when I pull up to a junction with headlights on. Which was begining to annoy me...

  5. Does anyone have a white (or any other colour really) dial template?

I remember seeing one on a US website somewhere, but can't find it now.

Since I'm unemployed and bored at the mo, might like to whip up some custom (but not too sad) white dials for the C.

Would help if it was VR-spec.. so fuel goes upto 15 gallons (if 12, I can alter it I suppose) and rev counter goes to 7k, red starting at 6.5k. And for the digital odometer, etc too. No analogue trip here ;)

Don't worry, I'm not going to plaster badly pixelated riced C's over my dials. Just finding more excuses not to depress myself further searching for jobs... :)

  6. The chain itself should well out-live 100k if the engine is looked after, it is generally the tensionners that might need a little attention.

I'm on 187k on the original chain. VW say it should never need to be changed.

  7. Nope, no deadlocks. You'd have a two-stage lock like on BMWs or Vauxhalls if it did.

When I lock mine, the central locking whines... then 6-7 seconds later it makes another whirr. Wassat then?

    I have a Clifford.

Never tried opening from inside, 'cos, erm, I don't tend to lock myself in! :p

  8. Err, sorry.. which rear panel?? you mean the back side of the panel the licence plate attaches to?

Open the boot/trunk and look just to the left of the latch hook. You should have a white sticker with lots of info on it.

And you mean the inside of the inner wing (ie the side of the engine bay) right?

Yup. Will have the name of the paint and a barcode on it.

If either of these are missing, it is likely that panel has been replaced due to a accident. :(

  9. WHAT abt mounthing the laptop in front of the passenger seat where the tray is, but actually replacing the tray and having the laptopn on rollers and arms that u can pull out and swivel and u could use the actual laptop but may be bit tricky

Erm, so you go round a corner, or brake hard, or accellorate hard - and the laptop slides out, hitting your passenger, or breaking itself....

I think secured and fixed would be a lot better.

  10. The sunroof closes at the same time as the passenger window, so I assume it wouldn't affect the driver's side if it was broken.

The 'full closure' is a Corrado feature - it is not part of the 3rd party alarm - so it is more than likely that a part of the full closure system is a little confused... or maybe the alarm isn't wired up to the full-closure system correctly?

If you turn and hold the key in the lock position on the driver's door - the full closure will start - does the driver's side close when you do it this way?

If yes - possible alarm-to-closure-unit wiring fault.

    If no, closure-unit fault.

    Hope that helps! :?

  11. The Concept 300 doesn't really come with any of the posey features as standard.. stuff like full closure, dual zone proximity, remote start and so on are all addons which you gotta pay for.

Full-closure can be added to a C for free with the Concept 300. All that is required is one wire from the brain of the Clifford to the full-closure unit on the Corrado itself.

You just need an installer who knows what he's doing.

Luckily mine learnt how to install alarms on a Corrado :)

  12. I didn't think the non-turbo was the 'modders choice', since the Turbo can be so much more tunable cheaply.

I think its a bit expensive to tune-up the non-turbo. Is he a bit daft and has too much money? ;)

  13. Is an imported (Jap) 1991 MR2 (2L non-turbo) really faster than my 1995 VR6 (unmodified)? (like it's owner tells me - he even reckons that the G60 is quicker than VR6 - is that right too ??!!)

The VR6 is faster than the G60. (standard)

So he is wrong, and I suspect he's wrong about the MR2 too.

    The 2litre non-turbo's are slooow..

    Even a Stage-4'd and modded a bit G60 can be beaten by a near-standard VR6.

  14. What do you think of my theory with getting the passenger window to be one touch for up and down by using a driver switch?

    Flawed, since my driver's side isn't one-touch-up.

    They are both just one-touch-down.

Different Cs seem to react differently. So you'd have to guess whether the switch you got actually would do it...
