  1. Looks like we now have some interest in the Saab after a big price drop - £2600 for a lovely condition. leathered 9-5 230PS Aero estate is stupidly cheap. Sarah would like a Golf VR6 but I'm wondering what sort of Corrado VR6 I'd get for about 3k, seem to have a decent handle of valver and G60 values but admit to being a bit lost when it comes to VR's.
  2. They do look pretty good in the metal - much better than in pictures but I'm still not sure whether I like it - like a lot of modern cars how it looks is very much down to the colour
  3. The 1.4 will not be available until 2009 - Jan I think but maybe March as I know there are supply issues with that engine.
  4. Kip - which dealership did you show yors at - I'm presuming it was Macclesfield - nice bunch of people there, Steve the Sales Mangager is a top bloke. Gilbert Lawton / Smith Knight Fay are now part of Inchcape but still trading under their original names because of the goodwill factor. I offered my car to any of the Northern division Inchcape sites but everyone said that because of its colour it would probably attract more attention than the Scirocco
  5. As per title, round 9 of the BTCC from 12.30 until 5.30 then a review of the Goodwood Festival of Speed
  6. So far seen it in metallic black, red, dark blue, white and silver. The silver looks trult awful. I was standing in the showroom and a bloke came in to enquire whether they had a Scirocco he could look at, the receptionsit replied "Yes sir, there is one five foot to your left" - buy a silver one if you want one that blends totally into the background
  7. Must admit to really liking the Octavia VRS. I'm down to the final two for a job with a business that has VW, Audi, Mercedes and Skoda sites, looks like they'd be pretty generous with a company car but I'm keen on one of these, I love the tough no nonsesnse feel that they have
  8. The CC 3.6 is not even badged as an R36, in fact its not badged as anything, all the performance of the R36 without the body add-ons, great stealth machine
  9. The Passat looks too tall and narrow for me - the same engine and gearbox combo in the Passat CC is more appealling to me
  10. Thats awful. One of the first things I teach sales execs is to never leave the keys in the ignition - first time I have heard of this happening to a private seller though. Will this cause problems with the insurance - we all know how they like to exploit an opportunity not to pay out
  11. Mercedes build quality did take a massive dip in the late 90's and early 00's, even Mercedes have admitted that. Current Mercs are back to where they used to be - as it should be considering the price of the things
  12. The RS6 just felt like a big heavy lump with a stupidly powerful engine whilst the CLK felt really special, like comparing a sledgehammer to a scalpel, then again the CLK is £30k more expensive. Corozin - he jokingly said that he is doing his bit to downsize, he is trading down from a V12 Bi-turbo SL

    how nice?

The US special edition CC, complete with 3.6 V6 - all for $27,000 - and manufacturers say that we are no longer being ripped off in the UK The CC is a stunning car in the metal, IMHO the best looking car VW have made since the Corrado
  14. Strange but very enjoyable interview I had today. At the end of the interview the Sales Director who had been part of the interview panel asked me to give my opinion of what his net company car should be, he couldn't make his mind up. Off we went outside to look at his choices which eneded up with me and him both giving them a good run out. RS6 is awesome but the CLK is just in a different league - oh what it must be like to have to make such difficult decisions
  15. Well worth checking the relay - that was the problem when they stopped working on my Aqua Blue G60, sometimes the relay can just work loose so before investing in a new one check that its fitting properly - can't remember which relay controls the indicators but I'm sure someone will be along shortly to confirm
  16. Managed to drive one on Thursday - deceptively good car, will be a fantastic used buy in 3 years time

  18. This months Car magazine is testing an early pre-production one. Spec includes a 450PS twin turbo V8 and a double clutch gearbox option, looks so much better than an M3
  19. Most sales execs wouldn't know what you were pointing at if you did point at a Corrado - sad but true. Volkswagen sites need to log every person who goes into a site, they then need to aim to deliver test drives to 60% of those people because "bums on seats sells cars". This is what I get paid to do, if a sales exec is doing there job correctly if you walk into a Retailer you should have no problem getting a test drive. Best of all are Inchcape sites, they should all have at least 3 test drive routes to choose from of different lengths / roads etc, the longest should be about 20-25 miles, its for the customer to choose what test drive route they want to take.
  20. Dave - any value in having a General part to the forum
  21. I have loads of copies of Car from the early 80's with some fantastic stories, Supercar Classics was also absolutely top drawer. One of my favourite stories (which I have framed and hung on a wall) is from when they accompanied the owner of Stratton in Wilmslow to Maranello to collect his Ferrari 288GTO and drive it back to the UK Motoring journalism isn't what it used to be
  22. Dave has allowed me into the site for a few weeks, thinks it looks great and shows how the Corrado Club is really getting back on track - long may it continue :D
  23. Thanks for the nice comments - very much appreciated. I was chatting with some friends last night and they commented on how us Corrado people seem to stick pretty closely together - must admit all things Corrado seem to take up a fair old chunk of my spare time. Helping Susi out was purely because she wanted help to buy a car and I could provide that help, perhaps I'm too trusting but I always trust people until they do something that makes me think they shouldn't / can't be trusted. My much missed dad always lived by that premise and I'd like to think that I'm doing the same. If there was a bit more trust between people the world would be a touch more pleasant :D
  24. ninoG60 - it was the black one that Susi bought, the Nugget one is going nowhere :D
  25. I did it myself, quite straightforward once you know what you're supposed to be doing - my main problem is a lack of patience :D , not as agood a finish as I'd like but every piece I do is an improvement on the last one
