  1. Nice one, my birthday in a couple of weeks, rather than buying it for Noah for his birthday on Friday I have been dropping hints that it could be bought for me :D
  2. Certainly will not be a V6 model, unlikely to see 4Motion make an appearance either, brand hierachy means that there cannot be any real crossover with the TT
  3. Definitely feels tauter than the Golf GTi - as if everything has been firmed up 10% - subtle but enough to put clear water between them, a Golf GTi with decently tied down suspension would probably be as good to drive though. The disappointing thing is that I parked it next to a Passat CC and I muchh prefer the styling of that
  4. Got my first proper drive today. Manual in red with black cloth interior. Interesting to see it parked on tarmac in a real life situation. Habe to be honest and say that it looks better than I remembered but still far from sold on it. Head on from the front is when its at its best - pretty aggressive looking. Interior is dire when in cloth - yes, its solid and ergonomically sound but theres no sense of occassion, only thing that makes it feel sporty is the poor visibility, you could be sitting in a saloon car otherwise. Driving experience is pretty impressive - great engine note, felt genuinely quick whilst still being refined. Great steering feel, turn in precise without being over sharp. Ride was pretty firm but very well controlled and not at all crashy. Has far more grip that the 200PS will never really trouble it, didn't have the chance to find some decent country roads but guessing it will be pretty foolproof but still fun on the right kind of roads. Overall, more impressed than I thought I'd be but seeing as though you surely buy a coupe on its looks as much as anything else I'm not sure I'd buy one. Cars are starting to filter through to dealers now so might be worth taking a trip down to your local site and having a look. Jim - pity Avis won't have a Scirocco for hire for your Karmann trip - much more fun than a diesel estate
  5. Just received an email from Susi saying that the car passed its TUV test today with only a couple of minor points needing to be done - I'm relieved but not surprised. Looks like she has managed to get herself a good car as I think the TUV test is a pretty tough one to pass
  6. Yep, JMR had a small batch manufactured by Milltek, lovely piece of work that made a big difference to how the car drives - last one was sold a long time ago but might be worth giving him a call
  7. I'd agree totally with Kev - weight is a major factor. The difference in steering feel when I switched to my Pro Race 2's was a bit of a shock (but for the better), it was purely down to the new wheels being significantly lighter than the old ones. Looks wise its purely a matter of personal opinion, one thing I did notice was that the choice of tyres seems more limited in 16" and prices seem higher than 17" as well
  8. Georgek - yes, that would have been us, stopped for a quiet drink at the Whipping Stocks
  9. Nice car. Might be worth playing safe and changing the plates, heard of too many people getting pulled this year for non-legal plates that its just not worth taking a risk.
  10. Heres mine, only on for travelling
  11. Can't go wrong with an Aquatouch drying towel, short pile on one side, long pile on the other and big enought to do a Corrado with ease

    3 month detail!

God help the first pigeion that decides to dive bomb the car, poor Marc will keel over with heart failure :D
  13. Susi got home to Munich at 12 noon Saturday, not bad considering that they were still in Cheshire at 5pm on Friday. Car ran perfectly all the way, used zero oil, zero water and averaged 34mpg. Apparently its being dewaxed today in preperation for the full Zaino treatment

I'm all for having a clean car and admit to spending some time keeping it clean but even I find this level of detailing mildly ridiculous. Fine if you're going to encase it in glass and bever drive it but if its being used on the road its insane. If I were a car salesman he would be my nightmare customer "I have a complaint to make about the size of a piece of grit that I have discovered is lodged in the tread of my offside rear tyre - I find it unacceptable that your PDI did not pick this up and I wish to reject the car and make a complaint to the head of Vauxhall"
  15. Tried one a couple of years ago - great if all you want to do is strip off any wax thats already on the car - now use a Sonus affle weave towel for initial drying and a lovely thick plush drying towel for final finish - takes no more than 5 mins to do the Nugget
  16. I'll never be cured unfortunately :D
  17. iow_corrado_g60 - she sent me a PM asking if I could help her find a G60. I was very suspicious at first but being the trusting type I gave her the benefit of the doubt, I'm really glad I did as she is lovely and we have struck up a really good friendship. Its cost me money with all the running around (4oo miles), phonecalls, box of spares etc but its been worth every penny - when we said goodbye yesterday afternoon she burst into tears and said that she could not begin to express how grateful she was for the help - that made it all worthwhile :D From her first contacting me to picking the car up yesterday has taken less than 3 weeks - not a bad timescale.
  18. Shes really conscious about her poor English so probably won't be posting on here. She has no major plans for it in the short term apart from sorting out the small issues that every newly acquired car seems to possess. I hope to see the car next year as I've been invited to Worthersee with Susi and her friends (both male and female) who go there every year.
  19. What an enjoyable day - everything went like clockwork. Picked Susi and her friend Martin up from their hotel near Manchester Airport and went straight over to meet Joe in Bolton. All trotted off to the bank to pay the Euros into Joes account then back to near the Reebok Stadium to complete the paperwork and hand the car over. Poor Susi was a bit baffled by it all, not speaking much English made it difficult for her to follow what was going on. Then the big moment, Susi drove her first ever Corrado, her first ever RHD car and on the left hand side of the road for the first time. Over to the Trafford Centre for a wander round and to get her the fish and chips that she was so desperate to try. Down into Cheshire where a nice traditional English pub was found, soft drinks in the beer garden being the order of the day. Then to the M6, I peeled off at J15 and off Susi and Martin went to the Channel Tunnel and a non-stop drive back to Munich, a total drive of about 870 miles. Managed to put together some spares for her, charger belt, PAS belt, fuses, tie wraps, electrical tape, 1 litre of oil and G12+, Corrado keyring and a nice black 1/43 scale Corrado Really nice to help someone out - just keeping my fingers crossed that they get back OK
  20. Nice one, I reckon the 8V are much better to drive than people think - I love silver Corrados. Is it a daily driver or will it be hitting the Concours circuit?
  21. It is a lovely car, don't think you'll find many 18 year old cars with the original dealers tax disc holder in the windscreen, you can't put a value on originality like that. I have got Susi to promise that she won't pinstripe it or anything equally tasteless - I'm sure it will evolve into a truly stunning car
  22. Will do Jim, I'm going in the Nugget tomorrow and we were planning on getting some pictures of the two cars etc together anyway. I'll do a few words and get it over to you - must be a rarity a RHD Corrado being exported back to Germany
  23. Yes it is Joes black G60 - lovely standard car that is a fantastic base to work from. She was very clear about what she was looking for - black, blue or silver, leather and less than 70k miles - Joes virtually picked itself. She is a regular at Worthersee etc and wants a RHD car purely because it will be a talking point in Germany. Looking forward to meeting her tomorrow - I've actually enjoyed helping someone buy a decent car
  24. I have not shelled any money out for the car - just her hotel for tonight. Is she hot - thats a matter of opinion and as a happily married man it would be better if I did not comment - but yes she is :D, more importantly she is a genuinely nice girl
  25. ...after buying a car for someone I have never met from Germany, tomorrow is D-Day (bad terminology maybe :D ) She is flying in to Manchester tonight and first thing tomorrow I'm collecting her from her hotel (which I have booked and paid for) and taking her over to Bolton to pick her new G60 up. Getting nervous because although she has seen a lot of pictures of the car, its never the same as seeing a car in the metal. She is then driving it all the way back to Munich via the Channel Tunnel. I reckon she is pretty brave for a 22 year old girl who's never been to the UK and has never driven either a RHD car or a G60 before
