  1. I'd happily convert a NEW Scirocco into a trailer, at least then it would be distinctive, doing that to a MK1 is sacrilege though
  2. Sounds like the kind of bloke who would recommend buying a Ford because "anyone can fix them" - amazing how many badly informed people there are out there
  3. Starting using my Zaino Z6 after washing and problem is now cured :D
  4. Have tried calling a couple of times today as I have just received my renewal notice from Brentacre - phone just keeps ringing out - keen to see if I can save some money

    Passat W8 ...

Soon to be joined in the rarity stakes by the lesser spotted Passat R36
  6. Neil - get yourself over to www.detailingworld.co.uk - you'll get some good quality guidance from some very experienced people. I have used most of the traders from there and all of have excellent in terms of service
  7. And no replacement for the R32 - instead there will be a GTi-R - complete with a 260PS 2.0 TFSI engine
  8. Fortunately everything is above board - she is young enough to be my daughter and I'm entirely honourable :D It was slightly bizarre, out of the blue I got a PM asking me if I would help her locate and buy a G60, she was desperate for a sub-70k mile, black or blue car with leather in standard (unmodiied) condition. I was very suspicious at first but I know where she works, I have her mobile number etc etc and everything stacks up - she is paying for the car in cash (no suspect money transfers), if there is a scam then its a damned clever one. Joe is not releasing the car until he has physically paid the money into his bank which is commonsense. I do feel guilty playing a part in letting such a nice, original G60 leave the UK though - can't be many in such original condition and with sub 70k miles left.
  9. ...not for me though, will be getting collected next Friday and driven to its new home in Munich by its new 22 year female owner Bought Joedakios immaculate 67,000 mile example - lovely original car that won't take much to turn in to a stunner Quite a responsibility buying a car for someone you've never met - understandably Joe has been very cautious with all the scammers doing the rounds but hopefully everything will go smoothly next week
  10. Apparently the cost cutting is not so much in terms of the materials used but more to do with the time it takes to put everything together. A typical Golf takes twice as long to build as an equivalent Astra / Focus etc. Volkswagen say that the cost saving in terms of production costs is about $700 per car - not that any of that will be passed on to the customer though. I'm not convinced - the MK4 always seemed to be built of higher grade materials, certainly the bits you can touch and feel - hope the MK6 does not continue the trend
  11. Corrados have long since disappeared off Glass and CAP, to be honest I'm surprised a main dealer, Volkswagen or not, has taken it in p/x - they will have paid a token amount as a favour to the customer
  12. 3corsameal - I was pretty sceptical as well but spoken to several people who use this one and even after 12 months its still producing water at 0ppm according to the water testers that they are using - I have no reason not to believe them, even if it was reduced down to 15-20ppm its still a massive improvement on the 145-150ppm that my tap water is chucking out
  13. 2k - giving the dealer at least 1k mark up as they will have "stolen" it from here Be cheeky with them - they won't retail it - it will go straight to a trader, if you like it offer to buy it at £50 more than the best trader offer - I guarantee that figure will be a lot less than 2k
  14. Been getting really fed up with watermarks on the cars after washing so just bit the bullet and bought an 11 litre RO (Reverse Osmosis) filter that should mean I can simply rinse off the cars with virtually pure water and not have to worry about watermarks anymore. Just sits in-line with the hose and purifies water down to virtually 0ppm. Thankfully it should last a good couple of years so will end up costing about 30p per wash
  15. Lovely car but I wouldn't have thought a 1.8T would suit the cars manic nature, I'd have thought a supercharged VTEC lump would be more in keeping
  16. Sounds good to me. As for claying I always work on the basis that the car can never be too wet, better to have a drenched car than scratches caused by being stingy with the lube
  17. Nice LSD was a rare option, has it got the even rarer option of indicators :D
  18. If quality / solidity is more important than outright performance / handling etc then why not an Audi Coupe - built like tanks and have a timeless elegance about them. If you're looking for sheer fun, put the perceptions of others to one side and drive a Puma OR Peugeot 306 GTi-6 - elegant stling, practical, quick, great handling, decent spec and a good owners side to things
  19. How about another G60 - fits all the criteria :D Otherwise, Puma, Fiat Coupe, 200SX, Prelude, Celica, MR2
  20. Had a V8 Vantage last year for the weekend and can confirm that the noise is better than anything I've ever driven before - and by a country mile :D
  21. I'd rather wait and have a V12 Vantage - would accept a DBS if that was all that was on offer though :D
  22. I got the Zaino from http://www.pro-detailing.co.uk. If I had not taken their advice I'd have spent a lot more than I needed to. Ended up with the Z-PC (cleaner), Z3 (polish), ZFX (curing accelerator), Z6 (gloss enhancer) and Z8 (final finishing spray). Was not that cheap but a little goes an awfully long way.
  23. Shaun - I was very sceptical - I have always used and loved wax, trying Zaino, being a "mere" polish seemed like a backward step. Quite difficult to apply as it needs to go on very thinly but it was worth the effort, reckon it would bring out the flake in your car like nothing else
