  1. He did actually say that he tends to buy cars and then just runs them into the ground, here what you are saying that cash is cash but I really didn't want to sell him the car - I'd rather keep hold of it than see someone buy it and let it go to ruin
  2. I consider myself well and truly ticked off :( I do have another very interested party who wants the car but just has to sell his own first
  3. I know I'm being picky  , probably got a lot to do with me not really wanting to sell it as well - its such a great car, just wish it was an estate
  4. I just told him that I just needed to make sure that the car I was looking at was still available and that I'd be in touch as soon as I knew, I did cover his fuel costs (even though he only lived about 15 miles away). I am actually still waiting to see if the Audi we're interested in is still available so I'm not exactly lying. At the end of the day I have invested a fair amount of time in that car and I want to make sure as far as possible that it will be bought by someone who will continue to look after it as I have.
  5. Had a bloke come round this afternoon to view the Bora - said it was by far the cleanest he had seen and offered me the full asking price. Trouble was he turned up in a really tatty looking Mk4 Golf GTi and I just couldn't let someone buy it to let it go like he had with his Mk4. Thats the second car I've refused to sell to someone ......really must stop seeing them as things that might have feelings :?
  6. In the expectation that the other halfs Bora could sell this weekend (every car I have ever sold has been sold to first person to view) I'm now looking at what practical estate / hatch to buy. Currently considering: Octavia Mk1 VRs (2000 - 2002) - all tend to be higher mileage (70k upwards but I know the Octavias are tough old things) Audi A4 Avant (2000 - 2001) - preferably with the 2.4 V6, tend to be well looked after and are approx same price as the Octavia 3 Series Touring (1999 - 2001) - wifes preference but we can get a 323i / 325i within the budget And the curve ball option: Vectra GSi Estate - cheaper than the others, generally lower mileage and a bit younger (2002 - 2003) Looking for something with a reasonable turn of speed, reliable (I know theres a question mark over the Vectra on this one), practical and decent access to specialists for repair / maintenance. Your views are appreciated
  7. On talking to him at the NEC last weekend it was fairly clear that he does not have an in-depth knwledge of Corrados and he openly admitted that he does not particularly like them but that their is good money to be made from them. He said he's always getting phonecalls from people looking for advice, often about cars that they already own or are looking at buying - I can undestand why that would annoy him, however giving people advice (if you have the knowledge in the first place) wouldn't cost him anything and might allow him to build a better reputation. From what I heard from him I'd suggest that I'd treat him as I would with any used car dealer - with caution, certainly seems to have a healthy throughput of cars but its clear he's not an enthusiast and is only interested in the money

    My new bucket

Its the Sonus professional bucket, spec is awesome   The kit contains: - 5 US Gallon Bucket - Grit Guard - Gamma Seal Lid - Seat Cushion - Heavy Duty 5 castor dolly Available from http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk. Not cheap at £60 but you get money back from their loyalty scheme and I have 3 cars to keep clean, having the seat will help me clean the wheels in a bit more comfort - must be getting old.

    My new bucket

    Thought I'd treat myself
  10. I personally don't think there is a duff colour in the Corrado range - some seem to polarise opinion (white and yellow spring to mind) but I'd be happy to drive a Corrado in any colour
  11. Unashamedly pinched from a thread on E38. I did not know that the Lister Storm used the superstructure of the Corrado, when you look closely you can see clearly that it uses the windscreen, doors (although obviously reskinned), roof and most clearly the doorcards. Have to add a Lister Storm to my model collection now
  12. No thrashing of a g60 req'd, can drive them really lazily, mine will pull cleanly and strongly in 5th from 25mph. Just remember to keep the revs and engine load down until oil has reached 80 degrees and treat it to regular oil and filter changes. You won't regret going G60

    Audi R8

Although I have been lucky enough to drive one I have never seen one on the road then today I have seen 3 in the space of 30 mins - so much better looking on the road than in a showroom
  14. Best colour and best engine Good to meet you at the NEC at the weekend and nice to see another Nugget on the orum, they are in danger of becoming as common as Storms
  15. Met a on aold friend at the Classic Car Show today who showed me his bespoke wheel centre cap badges. Very good quality and really simple to order. Simply supply the diameter of the centre cap badge / logo together with your required design / text and colours and he'ss make them up for you. Typical cost for a set of four is about £14 I'm definitely ordering a set
  16. Apparently all will come fitted with Pirelli P-Zero's. Just also discovered that Volkswagen UK currently has no plans to import the car - not really surprising considering that they have still to sell all the Edition 30's that were available.
  17. Bit later than the rest of Europe but its here now, not sure if it will be available in other colours. Basically Edition 30 spec (230PS) with the new alloys and seats that have the same tread pattern as the tyres. Price £22,500
  18. The whole circuit will be heavily floodlit - in other words - whats the flaming point, running a GP in artificial light as opposed to natural - reckon it will be the first and last
  19. Wouldn't bet against Alonso taking a sabbatical in 2008 - he certainly needs time to get his head straightened out and re-build some relationships to give him a fighting chance of securing a top drive in 2009. Think he could come back at that point with either a BMW, Honda or Ferrari drive. Up until this year I had always admired Alonso but the Mediterranean temperament really seemed to grab hold this year, if he just let his driving do the talking he'd still be admired.
  20. If I had to choose one car that would have to be the only car I could have for the rest of my days it would be an RS4 - awesome car. Lots of debate going on at the moment that only the early RS4's had the full 414bhp, lots of later cars are being RR'd and only coming out with 360-370bhp. Some people have said that its due to the variable torque split but if that was the case then I wonder why Audi have changed peoples cars when they have complained about the power defecits.
  21. BigTartanJudge- I think mine is running 6000k. Only put Xenon into dipped beam and honestly not felt the need to go Xenon with the main beam, light output is so good on dipped bean with the In-Pro's that I have never used main beam since installing the dipped
  22. Heres some pictures of the actual thing - not good :(
  23. Oh dear, Porsche can do sports cars like no one else but they can't stop producing ugly cars in other market sectors. Apparently not official images but images created from insider knowledge - actually looks better than I thought going by the prototypes that have been spotted but still far from pretty.
  24. I have a Forge FMIC thats mounted immediately in front of the radiator, really neat pipework and there was no cutting of the slam panel
  25. Corozin - Having been fortunate to have driven both an R8 and a V8 Vantage I'd have to say that the R8 is better built, faster and handles better - I'd still take the Aston though - the Aston had that sense of occassion that the R8 didn't / doesn't. Exhaust note on the Aston is far better (strangely the RS4 sounds better than the R8) and I don't think I'd get as much pleasure form looking at the Audi as I would the Aston - could understand why anyone would want an R8 but it doesn't excite me the way other cars do
