  1. Currently all dealerships, irrespective of manufacturer, are complaining that they are not seeing enough potential customers - I have always said that that it total crap - your experience clearly demonstrates that i'm probably not wrong - most sales execs could not sell to save their lives - most are mere order takers.
  2. Extremely fit for purpose for intended market - nice to see a manufacturer being brave and thinking about potential customers in its home market. Will never be sold outside of India irrespective of what Tata themselves say - the cost of re-engineering it to pass emissions and safety standards almost certainly rule it out. Got to admit its better than the only other affordable mode of transport for most Indian families - a moped
  3. Viewed and bought a Saab today 2000 W plate 9-5 Estate, 2.3T Aero - so just the 250bhp to play with Full Saab service history and absolutely immaculate both inside and out. 115k on the clock but you'd never tell, either from the way it looks or the way it drives. Full cream heated leather, CD, alarm, all round electric windows, r/c locking, trip computer, cruise control, electronic dual zone climate control etc Trader would not budge on price but did say it would come with a full MOT, he'll get the only dent I could find popped out, 12 months warranty, 6 months tax and a full tank of fuel All in all not a bad buy for £3,900
  4. With your permission I would like to send your post to their Area Manager who I know quite well - hopefully it will get some attention and used to highlight to the retailer that this is not the way to treat a potential customer. It hacks me off as this is the industry I work in and when people act like this I take it very personally - seriously hacked off myself now
  5. Damned Pistonheads classifieds has thrown up another car for consideration that I'm now going to view before the Saab tomorrow - pretty rare, not got a great badge on the nose but is very highly regarded and the car itself looks like an absolute minter - nice V6 in it too
  6. Jim - this is the crazy thing. It was pouring down when he turned up so obviously the car was wet. I offered to get the C out, put the Bora in and dry it off so he could examine it, he said there was no need as he could see it was immaculate. I was genuinely not aware of the stonechips, if they were of any size I'd have noticed them and pointed them out.
  7. Relieved that it looks like I am being reasonable  , you can't do anything but doubt yourself sometimes.
  8. JMR is now a stockist of Rotrex and is about to fit one to his 16VG60
  9. The reason that a Volkswagen dealer wants to get you in through the door is that they are targetted on NC1 (new customer contacts) - they have bonus money hanfging on generating a given number of new contacts over each quarter of the year. Trust me, NO Volkswagen dealer has any data on the Scirocco
  10. Please bear with me on this  Had someone enquire about the Bora on Monday, asked lots of questions but said he couldn't get down to see the car until later in the week - I promised him that although I would let other people view the car I would not sell until he had come down to see it I had a viewing on Tuesday and the bloke offered me the full asking price, he obviously knew beforehand that someone else had first refusal on the car. The bloke that did have first refusal came down yesterday to view and bought the car after taking it out for a drive, despite the first viewer offering full asking price I offered to either reduce the price by £100 and throw in a pair on unfitted Angel Eyes or put a new MOT on it - he took the £100 and headlights as he wanted to take the car there and then despite the MOT only having a month to run. I advised him that I was not aware of any faults on the car and if it did fail it would only be on normal wear and tear items that you would expect on any 8 year old, 68k mile cars. Received a call from him tonight because: 1. It failed the MOT on one front suspension bush and one rear suspension bush were perished 2. He has found two stonechips on the bonnet that need touching in Although he did not specifically ask it was clear that he was angling for some more money off. Am I wrong / unreasonable to have stated quite firmly that two stonechips on a car of that age and mileage is far less than you would normally expect and two suspension bushes is hardly a disaster for an MOT
  11. Jim - don't give up Have you seen the Fiat 500 configurator Jim, pretty good site http://www.Fiat.co.uk - just click on "Explore the new 500" on the right hand side Can you see yourself manning the Fiat 500 owners club stand at the National Classic Car Show in years to come though
  12. I certainly don't think it will be as special as the Corrado, it should drive very well, being based on the MkV Golf but I doubt there will be a V6 version - that would put it in direct competition with the TT, think the overlap with the TT will start and end with the 2.0T version
  13. No Volkswagen Retailer will have any pictures, they are currently embargoed until the Geneva Motor Show - neither will any Retailer have any details on the car, you will probably know more than they do
  14. Final production version revealed at Geneva Motor Show in March, UK sales start in August, most dealers will be supplied with about 10 cars for 2008 so about 2,500 cars max for the year Anyone interested in buying needs to get a deposit down quick, if it replicates the Eos situation most of the years allocation will be pre-sold by the time its actually in the showrooms
  15. Not a diesel lover and as car will be only be doing 8-9k per year the fuel saving argument isn't there either.
  16. Just pulled this list of Saab mileages from one of the Saab forums, some really big numbers on some pretty late model cars  1. 17. Yes, both partners are from a Saab main dealer background, spent an hour on the phone today - came across as very decent. Said that Saabs tend to be owned by people who don't want to drive the default choice BMW, Audi and Mercedes. Apparently Saab have the highest customer retention rate of any manufacturer in the UK and that they tend to be kept for longer and for higher mileages than other comparable cars.
  18. Been to have a look at the lower mileage auto Saab this afternoon as a benchmark - very clean and tidy but the auto is definitely not for me - also the dealer was just a used car dealer, prefer to buy from a specialist to be honest. Gives me a good guide for when I look at the higher mileage manual Aero on Saturday afternoon though , this is the place I'm looking to buy from - just put down a refundable deposit on the car to secure it until Sat http://www.tradesaab.co.uk/
  19. Higher mileage Saab is up at £3900 but bloke selling it is a top bloke, independant Saab specialist who has been happy to give me lots of advice and guidance. Seems like a well maintained Saab 9-5 will go to the moon and back, he runs an identical car that has just clocked quarter of a million miles and is still on original turbo and clutch
  20. Bora has unexpectedly been collected this morning, now need a replacement quickly. Two choices: 1. BMW 528i (192bhp) SE Touring manual reg'd Jul 99 - metallic silver, full BMWSH, sat nav, rear dvd system, Xenons, beige sports leather seats, 126k on the clock, absolutely immaculate, price new was 48k, will come with 12 months MOT, 12 months tax - £4,000 or 2. Saab 9-5 2.3 Aero Estate (250bhp) auto, reg'd 2000, full Saab SH, leather metallic silver, cruise etc, 49k on the clock, again absolutely immaculate, will come with warranty and 12 months MOT - £4600 or 3. Saab 9-5 2.3 Aero Estate (250bhp), manual, reg'd 1999, full Saab SH, dark met blue, leather, cruise etc, 115k on the clock, 12 months MOT, 12 months warranty £3,900 Just arranged to see a car that I hadn't previously considered - mind you they did only make 155 of them - 2000 plate Mondeo ST200 estate - absolute mint by all accounts - only 2 owners and 41k from new
  21. Corozin - totally agreed - when I bought the Nugget G60 I got John (JMR) to do exactly as you have said, anything that John suggested was replaced was replaced. John (as a qualified MOT tester) was very thorough and took the cautious approach, if it was suspect it was replaced - might have cost me more initially but seems to have worked out for me - 100% reliability over 35,000 miles and coming up to 4 years. Anyway, I'm glad you're OK and the car is repairable - could have been so much worse
  22. Liking the Countach. Just bought an awesome Pagani Zonda Spider - level of detail is awesome for a 1/43 model - mind you, most Spark models are excellent in this respect
  23. Jim - a challenge for you - find me one within my 5.5k budget and I'll buy it
  24. Don't think that another C fits the bill as being a practical family estate car
