    Ford dealer staff should automatically offer you a test drive - its an integral part of their sales process, just like Volkswagen. If they don't let you drive one kick up a fuss and threaten to speak to Customer Relations, failing their CSI target could cost them a lot of money

    The MFA was showing an average of 44MPG, I only ever use that as a VERY rough guide, it is fun seeing how high you can get it, my journey back from Derby this afternoon had it averaging 48MPG over a 25 mile stretch of the A38

    I believe a couple of the Press RS's had RPJ dampers (Richard Parry-Jones) that heightened the torque steer but improved outright grip, I had a set of RPJ dampers on one of my Racing Pumas and the car was a totally different drive to when it had the standard Eibach dampers

    Years of checking MPG the proper way (always brimming tank and dividing mileage by amount of fuel put in) and now with benefit of sat nav to verify mileage confirms to me that I'm not missing something - unless some kind soul is regularly topping my tank for me.

    All checked, took my mileage off the sat-nav, I claim a mileage allowance so need an accurate record of mileage. I know I have a light right foot and avoid heavy acceleration / braking (thanks to many hours of police advanced driving tuition) as I easily get 32MPG out of the Bora and 29MPG from the far more tweaked Nugget

    Interesting, I have both a JMR solid front mount and a Milltek de-cat pipe, car has done over 30,000 miles with that set-up and NO problems with the Lambda sensor

    Its standard apart from exhaust, chip and pulley, I never get less than 32MPG out of it and tend to cruise about 80-85 on the motorway, the more miles it has on the clock the more economical its getting

    Tell me about it, managed to grab a drive of an RS at the Lommel test track, once you'd worked out that you needed to be pretty brutal with it it was astonishing, don't know if I could have lived with one on a day to day basis

    ...just checked my average MPG over the course of the last 646 miles on my Aqua G60, mixture of town and motorway miles and calculated properly (not direct from MFA) .......39.4 MPG Well pleased with that and a similar figure than a colleague is getting out of a MKV 2.0 TDi

    One of the most surprising cars I've ever driven was a MK1 Focus TDi over in Marbella a couple of years ago when I was working for Ford Europe, the thing had a great blend of responsive steering with great feel and a really nice compromise between grip and ride

    Not true, Cosworth manufactured the heads for the 2.3 but not the 2.5

    He won't push his car - I very nearly bought one but the running costs frightened me, I'd have been scared of driving it the way it deserved. Is it the 2.3 or 2.5he's got, the only true Cosworth is the earlier 2.3, the later 2.5's had their heads built by Mercedes themselves, no cracking manifold problems with the 2.5's though, a lot less character as well

    Of the cars in its class the Focus ST is pretty near the top, good strong engine, great chassis, good VFM. Aren't all interiors (including the Rado) full of grey / black plastic, at least its good quality slush moulded stuff in the Focus. If I was in the market for that kind of car it would be a close run thing between the Golf GTi and the ST, the Golf would probably get my vote if only for its stronger residuals

    I believe the Chrysler dealer he bought his new car from offered him a lot more than the car was worth just to scrap it - he didn't want much for it (£1300 or thereabouts) - I was tempted but realised I didn't really have the time needed to get it back to the condition it deserved
