  1. Anyone who's been contemplating one of the awesome Trimsport rear strut braces I'd reccommend getting one now. I have just ordered one, stocks are running very low and they might not be doing anymore seeing as though the cost of the stainless steel they use has just doubled in price making it doubtful whether its economic to carry on producing them. Not cheap at £95 but when you see one you've just got to have one
  2. The average hourly rate across the VW network is now just over £90, plus VAT of course
  3. The Golf GTI Cabriolet I've just bought is sounding very tappety, jobs yours if you want it
  4. There has been a lot of to'ing and fro'ing re: who owns the Cobra name. AC (countrys oldest car manufacturer and builder of the pale blue three wheeler invalid carriages) based in Brooklands (and now Malta I believe) actually own the name and are therefore able to build genuine Cobras. If I remember correctly the company is owned by a South African bloke called Alan Lubinsky. The modern day Cobra's (ie not the American Shelby built ones) are worth nothing like the amount that a genuine 1960's version is worth and in my opinion should not be considered a true Cobra
  5. Got the GTI Cabriolet insured fully comp for £180 on a classic policy - bargain
  6. Love the three spokes on the Caddy in the background
  7. It does seem totally screwed up - I pay more for the Nugget G60 even though its on a limited mileage and is garaged than I do on my Class 1 business use 30k per year G60
  8. Quickest I've been in without a doubt was a TVR Tuscan race car - the acceleration was bordering on the uncomfortable Quickest car I've owned has been a Grinnall Scorpion - 150BHP with an all up weight of 450kgs, six speed sequential gearbox, awesome on the road as long as it was dry, frightening in the wet Most interesing was probably a friends Maserati Bora - so subtle for an Italian supercar
  9. I'm presuming it will be displayed as a concept at the Paris or Frankfurt Motor Show - can't remember whose turn it is this year

    Cleaning alloys

They were filthy from 800 miles last week, took me 10 minutes to clean all 4, spray the stuff on, leave for a minute, quick flick over with a paint brush and spray off - spotlessly clean alloys - just checked the price of the Autoglym stuff too - £5.99 for 1 litre

    Cleaning alloys

Always had a problem keeping the original BBS alloys on the G60 clean, tried all sorts of cleaners and brushes etc but nothing really seemed to do the job - until today - used Autoglym Engine and Machine CLeaner and a standard paintbrush to agitate - the results were fantastic - really quick and easy and the cleaner is paintwork friendly - a lot cheaper than the specific wheel cleaners I have tried as well
  12. Picked the Edition 1 BBS rims up today - all ready and waiting and exactly as described - I only wish all transactions were this easy and straightforward
  13. Have no reason to doubt that the Boxster is a superb car to drive but never been a fan of its looks or its image. Much the same as the E46 3 series I had, lovely car to drive but couldn't wait to get rid of it because of its image
  14. Shouldbe one of the two handles / levers at the front base of the seats - should be on both drivers and passengers seats
  15. Found a really good website for these kind of days, was tempted to book a Gallardo / Murcielago experience for myself http://www.driversdreamdays.co.uk
  16. Just bought my wife a superb day with supercars on a track at Prestwold Hall in Leicestshire, heres what she'll be driving: Familiarisation laps in a Focus RS 911 Turbo Ferrari 550 DB9 New XK8 Karting Group N rally car on a special stage All with an ARDs qualified instructor Secretly hoping she's ill on the day so I can replace her
  17. Yep, try the SEARCH function and search on Audioscape - great door pods for approx £180 per pair - excluding speakers of course
  18. To be honest I'd rather have a tester who applies the letter of the law, I value third party making sure that my cars are safe and roadworthy and wouldn't appreciate anyone bending the rules for me, once they start doing it its surely a slippery slope until it starts to compromise individuals safety
  19. A MK2 is approx 950kg. Unladen generally means all fluids but no people / luggage on board. Eos looks a lot better in the metal than in pictures but the roof is already causing problems - such a complicated mechanism combined with it being built in Portugal is a recipe for trouble - very expensive as well, easily pay £27,000 for a decently specced 2.0 turbo, give me a nice Rado and a 2/3 year old VX220 Turbo for the same money any day of the week
  20. Fortunately the garage I use for general work up here (Madeley Testing Station, formerly Severn Valley Motorsport) are really good blokes, very genuine and cheap (£24 per hour), they have said they will sort it all out for me next weekend and give me my new MOT
  21. Damn - my failure certificate shows mine to be at 15%
  22. Just taken the Nugget for its MOT...it failed but only on a couple of points, rear brake compensator seized (just needs freeing off) and handbrake not effective enough. Can anyone tell me what the handbrake efficiency needs to be in % terms
  23. Problem with something as unique (and complete) as yours is that it will always be YOUR car - whoever buys it has to be prepared to accept that - I don't know whether I could, however much I liked / wanted the car HEY - my 1000th post
  24. Drive it and see for yourself, they are pretty rough and ready in character - thats why I love them
  25. How long before we see one of them strapped to a Corsa
