  1. Was talking to my mother-in-law the other day, she was telling me about her nephew and how he started in the car buisiness and has done well for himself. Unfortunately due to some problems many many years ago none of my wifes family will talk to or about him.

So, knowing he was into cars I did some digging and it turns out that not only has he done well for himself but in 1998ish he was in the process of buying Silverstone !!!!! When that fell through (assumably due to a Bernie backhander, lol) he decided to start his own race series and Premier 1 GP was the result, this went on to be Superleage in 2005, and I think it can be linked to A1 GP aswell.

I'm absolutely gutted I didnt know this sooner working in the motorsport myself.

Still, I've sent him a request on Linkedin, better late than never.

  2. Bucket list item is to at least get a passenger ride in a Veyron, but ideally drive one. How was it? :) Did you get to put your foot down?

As much as I would like to say I drove it, I cant, I had to test some of the electronics on it so was in the passenger seat with a laptop.

But, to say it was everything that your expectations are is an understatement. Felt solid, handled incredibly and even though it had the top off, we got it to 196 on the autobahn and there was very little turbulence or noise in the cabin.

And the engine sounds awesome, especially as the intake is right above your head so you get all the turbo spooling and dumping noises in your ear.

  3. Come on guys, do you really think that Audi's have the best interior and body quality.....

I was recently lucky enough to test a Veyron and the interior and exterior on those have absolutely faultless quality

Before that I tested an Aston Vanquish and spent some time trying to find faults with it but the only thing I could criticise was the quality of the carbon fibre inside the boot lid

  4. I ran the 22mm MC with Brembo 4 pots from a, cough!, renault. The renault runs a 22mm as standard so they worked well.

If you need a slightly larger MC, you could go for a 23mm from a seat or a ford, they only need a small spacer to fit and are commonly sold on ebay.

  5. Apparently it was for 205/60/15 tyres, I have 215/40/17s, I might be able to space them out another 5mm aswell to stop it

It may also be possible to have a washer/sleeve machined to fit over the thread and onto the recessed part,

  6. am sure there is a flat section on the moving bit of steering rack, from memory i think i used a big adjustable spanner to hold the rack and then undid the rod bit with another spanner and a hammer, plusgas always helps, i also recall them being thread locked in.

There is a flat where the teeth are on one end, but when I clamped on that, then tried to undo the rod, the toothed part looked to be twisting aswell.

I think I may have to try heating it

  7. I'm no expert so please dont take this as arguing with you DriverVR6, but I thought that lightening the fly, crank etc would give some gains in rpm, the less weight there is to turn, then the faster it will spin up meaning it would also rev higher.

Does that also mean things like knife edging the crank would not be done anymore either
