  1. I noticed the G60 track rods are a slightly different design to the 16v to cope with the wider wheels/tyres.

I'd like to try and fit a pair to my 16v rack (may be the same a g60 rack??)

They have a step removed to restrict the travel, this will mean a slightly larger turning circle but may stop my tyres rubbing the inner arches.

    Has anyone tried this before?

  2. I have the rack of the car at the moment and am re-painting it but I noticed when I removed the gaiters that one of the rod arms is bent.

First thought was to bend it back but then thought I should do the job properly, so following the Bentley manual, I put the rack in a vice and tried to undo the rods but so far no luck.

Is there a good way to get these undone?

  3. WOW, some great answers to a perfectly reasonable question, especially yours OSV......

Depends on how far you mean to go, don't see many with new plates made to fully smooth the chassis rails but have seen a few where the holes have been welded up and the water pots/battery removed and wiring tied up, Gareths (rado90 - H747 OVG) now has a cleaned/smoothed bay, but only seen that in the flesh and cant find any pics yet.

    Heres the start of mine

battery moved to boot as will the washer bottle, coolant bottle will be on drivers side.

All wiring will be hidden and done properly with good quality crimp joints (not soldered) and using m-spec cable built with a concentric twist for flexibility and covered in Raychem DR25 with all connectors booted, so should look good where you can see it.

Not at all pointless and its your car, if you like it, do it, then let the haters hate it

  4. It's not that bad - lose the stupid rear lights, stripped out motorsport style interior, set of decent rims and a race inspired wrap and people would be spunking all over that. Even more so if it was done by a "scene" bigshot

    I kinda agree with you.

If I saw that at a track next to a wide arch mk1 I wouldn't be thinking how bad it looked

  5. Been looking at a quite a few of the build threads and noticed that most Corrados do not have the body colour paint inside the car.

Mine on the other hand, has been sprayed completely inside and as I want to do a colour change on it, means I have to respray the inside fully to cover the old colour up.

Was it a random thing to paint inside or has mine been respayed at some point in its life? I do have the original stickers from factory so I would assume it hasnt.

  6. Had a quick search but not found much so I'll have to ask.

I currently have bugpack poly bushes fitted to my track control arms but they don't fit that well and I've never been 100% happy with them.

What do others suggest are good replacement bushes ?

Is there an OEM rubber upgrade or is it best to go for some better poly's ?

The car has a 20v, will be running on koni coilies, and has 17" rims

  7. I understand what your saying swiftkid and agree.

Can you connect to the abs by obd?

how is the car been wired, are the 2 ecus joined by k line? has a second port been fitted for the engine only, and that is the one you are using?

Silly question but was the car OBD2 before the conversion?

I imagine a lot of conversions don't get wired properly

  8. Both cars look good

I too was looking for reps, but finding a set in 17" that people weren't asking similar prices to genuine ones put paid to that.

I know what you mean, I have reps on my mk5 and just after buying them a genuine set of splits came up for sale for £50 more, gutted
