Just got the latest PVW which has a rallye fitted with a TT rack but theres no info on how it was done. I seem to recall that Jay Renshaws may of had a mk4 rack but its a long thread to go through (but I will go through it gradually soon) so does anyone know if it can be done and whats needed? Cheers

I have a late cluster in my early dash with the 20v engine, tacho runs straight of the AGU ECU, you need the VSS sensor in the gearbox to replace the cable, You also need to run the second indicator feed and there is a mod for the temp gauge, have a look here http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?3078876-The-unofficial-Cluster-Swap-thread/page3&highlight=early+late+cluster And I'm quite sure the size of tank doesn't matter, if its half full then its half full no matter what size it is, you just need to ignore the capacity printed on the dial

Does this come in a small pot but has a lot more in it than you think :)

What software do you use. I have a choice of Solidworks or Catia but it would be good to know what others use.

Do you use it as a daily Tim? If its not then drop the engine and box together, then you can do the lot without the car in the way

Just found an old 2009 thread asking the same, it would more than likely effect the rigidity of the body so not such a good idea

nice car, welcome to the forum -
Is the wiring there? To me, it sounds like someone has swapped the door card for a LHD to have just one switch, If your lucky the wiring and connector will be tucked in behind the panel.

looks good

Change the cluster, its easy and will cost a lot less there's a full write up on vortex on how to change it You'll also need the electronic feed for a speedo to go into the ECU so if you change the cluster you will have the electronic speedo aswell

What ECU you going to use, the late cluster works with the OEM ECU

I used to think that but like I said, It wasn't a lecture just advice However, I do work for a company who's primary business is building wire harnesses for all levels of motorsport including F1 and are now also moving into aero so I do have good knowledge on the subject. ;) -

Soldering isn't the best way to connect wires, the solder changes a multicore wire into a single core. At the point where the soldered wires end becomes a weak point which isn't good in a high vibration, high temperature area. Crimps are always better if done properly using good quality crimps and a decent crimp tool (I don't mean this to sound like a lecture, just advice)
