  1. Thanks Thought I was the only sad git on this late! :) Don't suppose you know why the original switch never had a washer?
  2. Replaced the rad on my valver a couple of days ago, all went ok.......however noticed a bit of a weeping earlier today. Think it is coming from arround my new fan switch that I used. I ordered the fan switch from gsf, it did not come with any kind of washer, I thought this was normal as the original one did not have a washer either. Has anyone replaced this sitch on a late valver and is a washer required? If so what is the part number? Many thanks blue95
  3. Thanks guys! Was looking at euro car parts there web site is a bit unsure of itself, lists the hose >92, not bad price £8.15 excl VAT. might swap the bottom one while I am at it as well.
  4. Just a quickie, are the rad hoses from the block to the rad (top and bottom) the same as the early 16v???? Ta
  5. Glue is a night mare to take off. IF you have not done it, I suggest using a plastic scraper and evo stick glue remover. Apply the remover with a paint brush and not a cloth as well.
  6. Bojmobile Thanks! - car always looks better in pics though! Bally have fixed the lip - not to shabby!! got some flexible spray on paint from Halfords in the end - really good stuff! :D
  7. Called GPC, they guy advised just grab one from VW!!!!! Have super glued and gaffer taped it back together! Will probably sand and paint with some type of matt black rubber stlyee paint. Save a few pennies too :D

    My first show

Awsome motor mate, loving the engine detailing!
  9. O is that what you call it !!! LOL! It is currently almost in two pieces, guy at work said he would glue it back together for me! Was gonna use fibre glass repair kit, but that drys stiff, where as I need it too remain flexible.
  10. Keep your spanners away!!!! Still have to repair the front lip!
  11. Phil K: Got a set of FK AK Coilovers on the way somewhere! Looking to drop it about 50mm to start with. Bally: No probs mate ! Think the coliovers may take 6 weeks to arrive!
  12. Missus has been on my case all weekend, only just mangaged to rub her down with meguiars clay and autoglym paint restore this weekend!!......errr......the car that is not the missus! LOL!!! Also guess having th bonnet and bumper sprayed up last week helps!!
  13. ............Still alot to do..........mods so far: Scorpion system 17" five spoke alloys Clear inidicators Car is delipped at the mo, due to immanent repair! Next mod - Proper wash and wax!!!! - inc engine bay!
  14. The kit I have ordered is adjustable from 50-80mm. Think I will start off on the highest setting though! as I want to keep my underseal!
  15. Why does that not suprise me Bally! :D Ordered the suspension £256.57!......lets hope it does not turn out to be a pile of dung!
  16. I have done a search and there is no definitive guide. Just need to know what bits are used from the old front and rear suspension. For ref the kit I am looking at is the FK AK Coilover kit, my C is a 95 16v Thanks!
  17. I thought when refitting the head it required skimming before being ffitted? I would way up the cost of getting it done professionally and a DIY job - last thing you want to do is stuff the engine. If it needs a head gasked the garage will have to take the belts off anyway.
  18. .....You guys are a bunch of jokers!!!! As for the bonnet got some evo stick adhesive remover, tried following the intsructions (wipe on solvent with cloth) load of crap. In the end used paintbrush to soak the glue, u can see it change colour after a couple of wipes, then used a wallpaper scraper to remove the then very sticky glue!!!...beware evo stik stinks!!! Try using a plastic scraper if you can, mine was metal and scratched the bonnet, not too worried though as I am going to stick new foam on anyways. As for sticking back the foam have seen some contact spray adhesive on screwfix for a couple of quid. #
  19. Thanks will give it a go on the old bonnet first just in case! EVO-STIK also do carpet adhesive, will try that as there other stuff is pretty darn good.
  20. Thanks for that will give it a go, think they key is to use glue that stays flexible. Any reccomendation on brand? Evo-stick drys hard. For ref rung VW, £81.21 for new panels and the guy thinks they are stick and peel jobbie.
  21. I allready have the sponge, will probably save a few hundred gramms!!!
  22. Yep that will be third port of call. Has anyone bought and fitted new ones??? Do they come with the glue allready sprayed on?
  23. Thats a shame bonnet looks cack at the mo, makes the engine bay look scruffy. Thanks guys will drop him an email. Might ask the bodyshop as well.
  24. Hello all, I had to change the bonnet on my C, I decided to take the sponge of the old bonnet and reuse it. Sponge came off real easy (and is in very good nick) and the glue on the back of it peeled off real easy as well. Plannnig to stick it to the new bonnet, my question is what gluse should I use? I am planning to use some of that Evo stick imapct adhesive, the solvent free one so it won't melt that sponge! Does anyone have better suggestions???? Thanks??
  25. Going off topic for 1 sec... ..Exciting times ahead as I have almost got the C back on the road, she is going in next week for bit of paint hope to have some snaps up then. Spec is pretty standard except for Scorpion exhaust and 17" 5 spoke alloys. Car is Moonlight or Midnight Blue (can't remember which!)
