I did mate… On the picture front… I need to see what cable bolts onto the long starter bolt and which path it takes. I think i know the one (comes across from in front of the engine itself and is inside a cable sleeve). Does it pass inside the plastic cable holder (that bolts onto that long bolt itself) or does it go another way?

Yip, they did the job nicely gents.. Ive ordered a new starter and some other bits and bobs. I couldn't find a number for the bottom bolt so have ordered a top one (the long one). I wonder if the starter will be all black like the one above? Ill find out by wednesday..

Could someone be so kind as to take a picture of the tope of the starter motor or more importantly the wiring going to it please? Im trying to tidy up all my cabling in that area and as my original fan set up has gone it is a little different..

Good not fit for purpose. Regardless of the cars altitude they are the wrong size.. Take them back and request the correct size ones are supplied or a full refund..

Off topic but I love that dash… I have still got the mag with the feature in, that was a great Corrado.. Back on topic, you get what you pay for and truth be told we all want to find a pair of Recaros in these silly cars...

The black section is very rusty Chris. I don't know whether paint will take to it very nicely...

The spring loaded catch mounted on the underside of the bonnet? If so i don't know how to strip it down but it can still be bought (classic parts) if you fancy a new one. I think it can be plated while still complete and not affect the plastic parts..

Nice one.. I was hoping it would be straight forward, access to the bolts doesn't look to bad.

Im after some definitive information on removing the starter motor on a VR6.. Ive read bits and bobs about supporting the engine, bits that could need replaced at the same time etc and before i take it off id like to know exactly what the score is.. Anyone took theirs off, changed it and have any details?

Im not sure about those either, i don't know why but i don't think they do the car justice. Some wheels though look so much better in pictures and some in the metal.. All personal taste though. Anything else to vote for?

New sump went on today, looks lovely although once its back on the ground it isn't exactly visible… Only picture taken was this.. You wouldn't know it from this picture but the car is so dusty. It hasn't moved since Stanford Hall.

They are indeed, RX are one piece and RX2 are the 2 piece version found on anniversary Golf Mk3s and Polo GTI (6N2) i believe.. The one piece ones are very nice...

Im a horder for things like this.. With my old one i even kept every petrol receipt, not sure exactly what that proved other than i drove it but it made me happy at the time..

This is true Chris, the compomotives were optional in the purchase but i love them so much i had to have them. If i get something else (or when) ill be keeping them unless funds demand otherwise but i like the idea of being able to change them when i feel.

The engine bay is tricky, i don't want anything aftermarket or too blingy in there which is where it is straight forward to get an impacting change. The RHs are nice, its a long time since they were on it.. Ive only seen one picture when they were on and they were nice. The RSs will take some beating and i know that is how the car will always be thought of, frustrating at times but i knew that when i signed on the line. Ill keep my eyes peeled for something.

Just general bits really.. Its such a frustrating car because no matter what i do under the bonnet it never really look any different.. Id love to follow your lead and take the engine out and really go to town but i don't think that will happen…. I really need some wheels though, the compomotives are sublime but for my own signature they need to come off..

Thanks guys.. Yes Chris or they were last year when i got them, sump, bolts and gasket is about 110 and the bottle was about 15 i think..

Well after work has kept me away for far too long I've been having a good play with the car… Since my return I've: Fitted 263 degree cams with new sprockets and bolts. Inspection of chains and tensioners (which are fairly new anyway) leaves nothing to worry about. New rocker cover sourced eventually and fitted. Fitted a new washer bottle, old one didn't look too bad until i compared the two Makes the other bottles look a bit old now though, typical. Gearbox oil change with redline MT90. Have used this stuff before and was very happy with it. Oil filter housing changed for refurbed item with all new senders, bolts and seal. Sump off, brand new one going on tomorrow. Please to see sump clear of any debris, engine bottom end looking very clean.. Still to do, well loads but next up is the scuttle trims are going in the bin as I've managed to get some very good 2nd hand bits and a lot of new stuff. Ill see how i get on with other bits but if it can come out of the engine bay ill clean it up best i can.. Few pictures… Cams in... Washer bottle in.. Before and after.. New Sump ready for fitting..
