Yeah that's my only issue, am I going to want to drive the rado if I get something new... :lol:Glad you're enjoying it.
There is such a difference between old and new cars.. I went from the 8v daily to the Polo so its a 20 year jump.. New cars don't have the same character perhaps but the Polo is a very good balance of refinement and enjoyment..
That driver's seat looks like it's never been sat in! Liking the steering wheel.Sent from my GT-I8200N using Tapatalk
Thanks mate, it has been sat in, i don't use a cover but feel i probably will end up going that way at some point..

Looking good mate. How you finding the Polo? I'm on the look out for a run around and fancy something modern for a change.
Absolutely great.. Solid, all the toys, big car feel in a small package and with plenty of poke.. The corrado felt very old today after using it...

Interested in the axle bushes and rear vw badge but would need postage.

Im keen for a couple please...

Good find Jim.
Do you have the part number?

Do these work on plastic and metal rocker covers?

I went for Bilstein B16's. Car still in 100000 bits so not driven yet to comment but I was in the exact situation. Want to adjust height but also want comfort. Don't think you can go much wrong with V3's or B16's. Have fitted both to many cars from MK2 Golfs to RS4's to New Fiesta ST's, all ride extremely well. I can get good price on both if interested? Thanks for the feedback, ill do some more homework and get back to you if thats ok...

Question..
I intend to upgrade my coilovers. I have read a lot of positive comments on here recently about alternative spring/damper combinations but in the interests of vanity i still want to be able to tweak the height so coilovers are the only way..
Question is what have people got that is very good quality? Im talking KW V3 or similar. The car is road used but want some more comfort than the V1s offer.

I can't really take that much credit on the joint venture as I've been in and out the area a lot since these cars arrived..
Im chuffed to bits that the worst car, that has now gone, has provided loads of panel cut outs to help Martin with the Storm so it has more than paid for itself...
The red one needs an inspection underneath to determine the best plan.. If its rotten then it may end up stripped but with the ultimate Corrado Womble it might not be easy to convince him.. Im not as emotionally attached as Martin...
Top work on the leather by the way mate...

Have managed to spend a little bit of time on the VR sorting a couple of little jobs. The last few times id driven it i had found that when returning to idle the car would drop the revs and sometimes cut out so tried a replacement MAF today and bobs your uncle..
Also the rear wheel bearings were too loose so tightened them up. When i next get the chance it will be serviced and MOTd but probably wont move much sadly..
Am very pleased that car started on the first turn of the key. It hasn't seen daylight for almost 7 months..
Here are a couple of pictures to prove it still exists and one of the Polo which will be static for a month or so as i have a holiday coming up..

Remaps aren't lost with removal of power.
Another vote for the ctek from me. Essential bit of kit..

Cool... Is that a ferry ?Like the reg plate goldie... Must get one for my white polo...
Thanks.. The plate was from the DVLA and they have loads of PO10 plates available..
Did the 330 mile trip yesterday without missing a beat, my first time driving an 8 valve and I was pleasantly surprised at how eager and flexible it is and averaged 38mpg. Thanks again Goldie for coming up to meet me and good to meet you. Here it is in transitNo problem, good to meet you.. It really is a great engine for daily use..

Small update. The 8v made it way to a new home yesterday.. What a brilliant car it has been and i hope it continues for its new owner (who is on here)..
Im continuing to enjoy the Polo.. Its now run in and I've done quite a lot of miles in such a short period of time. The car will sit while I'm away with work so no real danger of any Millennium Falcon mileages.. Only addition to the car is a private reg, just had to be done..

You are a Womble though mate...

Interesting, are these set up for a RHD car?

Good work on the seat mate..
There are too many Corrados involved here, time to whittle back the collection...
-
Im away so will miss this, again.. Going to be a poor year for me in the Car Show front...
-
I had an indoor place but have had to decline due to work.. Two years in a row I've missed it.. Fingers crossed for next year..
-
Very understated. Bet you can leave people standing and wondering what the car really is.
What engine does it have?
-
goldie if you 'bin' your KW's could you give me a heads up about them when you do pls ;) lolvalver suspension is definitely on the soggy side
Will do. They can always go in the recycle 'bin'. There is nothing wrong with them, I just feel the combination of the KW and large wheels is to crashy. I've no idea what I'll get instead so will be following others with interest.
-
Looks good mate. Rude quality seems to be the order of the day over having the car low.
I intend to bin by KWs at some point you favour of something that compliments the car more.
-
Not a bad little run around mate! Must admit I do like these, its like going back to proper little hot hatches as they've all got a bit fat over the years. It is mate, its Mk3 Golf size at a guess so no where near the size of a modern Golf.. Don't get me wrong id love a Golf GTI but they are expensive and i don't really need the extra room in the car.. The equipment level is no different and the lack of power is made up for by the reduced weight...

The new daily has arrived.. I collected this on Saturday.
Its a 2016 Polo GTI. The spec is close to how i wanted but with the advantage that this was at the dealer ready to go. Ordering a new one came with a 12 week wait. Its missing climate control and heated seats but has loads of toys in, far more than I'm used to after running old cars for ages.
Spec:
1.8 Turbo TSI 190bhp, 6 speed manual
Xenons with headlight washers
Heated and folding mirrors
Panoramic sunroof
Satnav, reverse camera, front and rear parking sensors
Cruise control
AC
The car drives really well, as its being run in i haven't taken it far round the revs but the pick up is great, ride is firm but not crash. A little more volume would be nice but there is sufficient for a nice sound track..
Plan is to move on the blue car which has been a cracking daily. The silver car remains and i saw it for the first time since September at the weekend, its all nicely tucked up..
Couple of pictures of the new toy..
