Collecting a new Polo GTI next weekend mate.. Don't know what ill do with all the mod cons..
-
Update..
Sorted the damp issue, the rear light seals were passed their best, nice easy fix.. Intention is to change the cam belt on it and then sadly a new home will be required... 2 Litre Peter has been great over the last year and a half but its time for change...
-
For the record i ordered 4 of these yesterday and they arrived today.. They are Febi items...
-
Ive ended up ordering one from VW, was reasonably priced..
Appreciate the input..
-
Id prefer to use something that is OE but don't know if VW make their own belts or if they are made by a third party..

My 8V will soon be needing a cam belt. Im just after anyones advice on where to source the parts. Am i best off going to the dealer? What make belt should i be using?
Additionally while I'm in there what else should i change, tensioner etc?
Thanks in advance..

When i did mine they were reluctant to go in, they have to be lined up properly and they 'should' be ok..
Mine need to come off again to tighten the wheel bearings up so ill get to have another go shortly...

I just bought one of those Kamper damp busters Goldie . Although I keep mine on the road all year the condensation build up is a lot when it hasn't been aired for a week or so . This would help loads with combating mould .Ill have a look into it...

Been an age since I've posted on here due to work..
Haven't seen my silver one since September, i may get her out for Ultimate Dubs although I'm not 100% if ill be able to make it..
The 2litre monster sat for almost 4 months through the winter and started on the first turn of the key. Only negative was it was full of mould. The seats needed a good clean and have popped a dehumidifier box in and it seems to be all good now..
Have a few jobs to do on the silver. Rear wheel bearings need a nip up and i need a new MAF as the last time i drove it it just didn't seem quite right when returning to idle..

I would love to get mine in a magazine but no doubt the feature will have to be done miles away from home and i don't like getting the old girl out in the winter..
There are plenty of ones on here that are of the quality that they would be after..

Agreed.. I had a VTR, cost 1200, ran it for 30k miles and sold for 500, needed a fuel pump and other than that never missed a beat. Saxos all have happich rear windows as standard if you like that kind of thing..
Hardly any left that haven't been messed with means good ones will become desirable.. All these comments of how crap they are is was said about the previous generation of hot hatches and look how they desirable they are now..

Result... Storm at the back doesn't look like a bad one...

Sorry for the delay... Im going to pass on these so Rolex they are all yours..
I appreciate you holding them though Chris...
-
With some of the goodies on that, too cheap..
-
Thanks.. The drivers handle is the crucial one...
-
What condition are the handles in Chris? Please be critical...

I really don't see the attraction of CF wings. If the originals weighed a tonne then maybe, but they don't, far from it.Do we know if LWS are gonna do a GRP version of these?
Some may like the motorsport look.. Other than the attraction is probably the durability and zero rust..

Lego is cool, doesn't matter how old you are...

Goodness me...
