It seems any Mk1/2 Escort is worth strong money, make it 3 door and add RS/Mexico and you are sitting on a very tidy sum. Some of it may be down to rally pedigree but some of it is because they are cool, young lads who couldn't afford them at the time have them and now they are stashed away with no real need to sell = value goes up..
Exactly the same things happening with Golfs, 205s, Xr2s, 5GTTs etc.. Would be nice for the Corrado to make its way onto the list. Lots of the poor Corrados have been broken up now and i know there is a good few of us on here who would have to have offers that can't be refused for our cars..
Wheeler dealers wont do the Corrado any harm at all, I'm not expecting values to rocket but as I'm not selling or buying I'm not really bothered...

Look forward to the updates.. Car looking exceptional as ever mate..

Got a breaker here with a gearbox still in it, I'm afraid I don't know what the crown wheel is? Might well have it though :)Is it off?

A Griff... Nice car..

Pop a jack under it with a piece of wood or similar to support it.. It wont come flying off if you don't but best to play it safe..
-
The screw isn't load bearing so is more of a locating item. The discs are really held by the wheel bolts..
-
Sorry Michael don't get what you mean mate?Twas a joke about rare parts fetching high prices..

I know what you're saying Matt I just don't feel comfortable after Karmannski has put so much work in to his. But I suppose it's a free market so people can make their own minds up. He may even say sod it - I'll save myself the hassle and have a set himself.I'm just happy that either way it will hopefully stop people cashing in on "rare" items
Ill give you fifty quid for your VSR then...
Im keen for at least one set of these if they turn out to be decent..

Ive heard a lot of stories about changing the ignition switch, not looking forward to it but I'm sure ill get there..
The passenger seat wiring needs sorting out but overall these are the best OE Recaros I've seen. Zero bolster wear or marks on the leather. They may end up coming out the car..

List of jobs that need doing:
Oil leak from oil filter housing.
Oil temperature does not read on MFA.
Bonnet foam rotten.
Door card top trims cracked.
Mirrors do not move on the switch.
Heater direction control temperamental.
Ignition switch intermittent.
I made a start on these over the weekend.
The low pressure oil switch was passing oil up through the spade. This has been replaced with a new one.
Oil temperature switch changed for a new one.
Bonnet foam removed and one from the group buy fitted.
Bonnet foam originally.
Half way through the job.
And finished.
If the weather holds ill try and do a bit more on the car today..

Im going to start a thread on this car to keep a track of the progress on the jobs I'm doing. The car is for sale but i can't update the advert so this seem the best way.
I bought the car along with an 8v and mountain of parts last year.
Anyway, the car its a 1994 VR6 with 62k on the clock. It has factory Recaro Leather and Headlight washers. It has also been fitted at the dealers with Diavia Aircon and a Zender bodykit.
It has been dry stored most of its life hence the low mileage. In the last few years the suspension has been refurbished so rear beam powder coated with new bushes and bearings. Upfront the subframe and wishbones have has the same treatment.
Ill post some mored details later on but here are a couple of pictures of it as it stands.

That is looking pretty swish indeed! Thanks, don't look too closely though, he's a bit rough round the edges..
After 6 weeks of standing post fuel leak i took it to one of this hand car wash places and they did a surprisingly good job.

DING DANG DO mate looking lovelyMany thanks...
Silver car hasn't moved since Elsecar, had a little look at it last weekend all tucked up..
2 Litre Peter passed the MOT the other day.. Have had a few challenges with the car recently, first the clutch and then a fuel leak but hopefully it'll behave now.. Next job is to change the fan motor as it can be quite tuneful..
Here he is looking proud of himself for passing the MOT...

Just a small update. Have taken the car to two shows and delighted with Volksfling top 5 and Runner up Corrado at Edition 38. Both really great shows.. It has been so nice to drive the car as its hardly moved all year..
I had hoped to be doing a load more work on it over the winter but i have to go away with work so it will have to wait. Wishbones, driveshafts, heater matrix as the bits i want to tend to next but no doubt that will lead to there jobs..
Here are a few pictures..
I even modelled a shot for Autofinesse..
