Does the noise change with engine or road speed?
-
Ok so the part numbers are: Blower R/H Drive: 192959101 100.20 Euros Lower seal: 191820129 5.82 Euros upper seal: 191819166 4.76 Euros the seals are for the intake bit, thought I would change them too they are bound to have perished over the last 20 years  and although they are on back order this lot should be here on Wednesday, cant wait my noisy fan has been doing my head in for about Two years now...

Dude you know there are coppers that use this forum right.... Be careful what you post and obviously get your lights sorted quick!

Thanks guys, I'm going to swing by VW at lunch time as I need a few new bits anyway and having recently shelled out 500 euros for set of new LHD headlights I imagine I am going to get bent over the parts desk again for the blower but we shall see....

Does anyone know the part number and cost from VW? I know I can find both of these by removing the fan and going to VW but I'm really lazy :)

You have to have the smaller pulley to get more boost, all the chip does is adjust the maps feed to the ECU to take advantage of the extra boost the smaller pulley supplies, if you go SNS you also get their 'anti-lag' code which makes for a snappier throttle response, don't forget you will need a a smaller belt to go with the pulley, fit and enjoy! 8)

Thats bloody lovely 8) were did you get the charge cooler? Dan
-
Sounds like a plan 8) you done the Crank bolt replacement yet? If not get that done at the same time. Cheers Dan

May be worth a new Water Pump while your in there, would make fitting easier and they are fairly cheap for such an important part 8) I fitted my Samcos Two years ago now and I still havent done the Heater Matrix pipes as Im still recovering from the nightmare of getting those water pump pipes on.... :gag:
-
Do yourself a favour and strip out the rad to give yourself the room to fit them properly, the Two 3-way pipes that go between the waterpump, thermostat and oil cooler are a complete bitch to get on and off with everything in place :-)

Class  cant enough of the new Deftones album Diamond eyes it's fu$%ing brilliant, just got the new Pendulum album and that's not bad either.

same happened to me when i replaced mine mate :-( good work on getting it open though! 8)

How much of the 'inner' cable came away with the broken cable? your best bet if it snapped off at the handle end inside the car is to strip away the outer sleeve till you can get to the inner cable, get a set of mole grips on it and push the outer sleeve until it pops open. Hope this helps Dan

The only one that's even halfway decent (aside from the VWMotorsport kitted one) was the mucher-rado

Hi mate, the digi mile reading and clocks will stay on all the time the battery is connected I suspect you may have a dodgy boot light switch, take out the parcel shelf and close the boot if the light stays on just whip out the bulb for the moment, if not you may have a dodgy battery or drain somewhere else if your not handy with a meter and its not the boot bulb I would recommend taking it to an auto electrician. Cheers Dan

Swapped my 16v GTi for my G60 in 2006 and never looked back, puts one of these :D on my face every time I drive it!
-
Glad its running again dude :) some times it just goes like that, I called the AA out once when the alt light came on in my mk2 GTi all he did was undo one cable sand the crap off it and put it back on... Cost me over £100

Have you checked your Vac hoses? I had a very similar problem that was sorted when I replaced the 2" hose from the ISV to the Manifold it had a large split in it, I would also recommend cleaning out your ISV with throttle body cleaner. Also don't replace the ISV wiring without doing a continuity check with a meter between the ISV end and the ECU end of the wiring, take it to an auto electrics specialist if your not sure. Cheers Dan

As above mate, at the end of the day you have picked up a car that has maybe not been treated as well as it could have been, mine was the same in the first six weeks of ownership I had to fix a stupid number of problems that hadn't shown up on the test drive :-( but stick with it and once sorted she wont let you down again as long as you stay on top of the regular maintenance. Best of luck! Dan
-
Did you get this sorted in the end mate? I just found the cause of my G60 dodgy idle issue to be a split in the small pipe that runs from the ISV to the manifold worth check as its a 5min fix 8)

Sorry chief having a hard time picturing the cable you mean, pics may help also I guess you have checked the dizzy make sure its nothing obvious like the arm being in bits? Is the timing all ok do all the marks line up with the dizzy at TDC?
-
I found the pic I took of my old stat and the Third new one from VW... As you can see the new one is open but only just when you look at the old one :censored:
-
If that bottom pipe is cold along with the bottom half of the rad you have a dodgy stat, as I said I went through three from VW before going for a low temp one. The ones from VW did open when put in a pan of boiling water but only just and the opening was smaller that the old stat I was swapping, the only other thing I guess could be an air lock in one of the pipes or maybe the heater matrix. Try taking off the small pipe that leads up to the expansion tank with the motor running there should be a trickal coming out of it, if you have an airlock or the coolent isnt moving round the system properly nothing will come out of it. Good luck dude. Dan

If your thinking of dropping a pully size it would be worth getting the charger checked at G-Werks first! You dont want it blowing up on you and the smaller pully will make the unit work harder reducing rebuild intervals. CheERS dAN

How do you know its defo the water pump? I had a few issues like this when I changed the stat on mine, issue 1 was I had managed to trap the rubber o-ring on the blue expansion cap, easy fix just unscrew and turn it over to see the o-ring is still in place, and issue 2 was a crap stat from VW... it hardly opened at all ended up going through 3 rubbish stats from VW before getting a low temp one from here: http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.ph ... 88&xSec=86 Cheers Dan
