    Fog light swap

Anyone ever switched the foglight from the r/h side to l/h side? I have to move it (or enable both sides) to passthe Dutch MOT, was wondering if it is just as simple as moving the bulb as the other side is prewired and ready to go but I suspect not

    G60 Emmissions

Yea I tried to find out if he was testing under 92 levels but my Dutch wasnt good enough :( anyway its booked in to the garage tomorrow and they are fully quilified to do the work and the retest, had a quick chat with them on the phone and his English is really good so will get the rules out of him :-) Weird bit is the leak is way down by the rear axle and its quite small I thought only leaks upstream of the lambda would affect the fueling, unless it was a big hole of course? :(

    Dans 92 G60

Had the beast tested at the RDW today.. (Dutch Import test and MOT) and :epicfail: Leaking PS pipe, missing PS pipe bush, Fog lamp on the wrong side, leaky exhaust, front indicator r/h side weak, arb bush, inner CV boot split, although oddly enough it didnt fail on the head lights in fact the tester took off the stickers as apparently they are a fail  And everyone favourite.. emmissions viewtopic.php?f=1&t=81765 but she is booked in to a local garage to quote for fixing everything as I no longer have a drive, so guess we will have to see I did get a cheeky snap of the car next to mine in the queue though 8)

    G60 Emmissions

Hey All, I failed the Dutch MOT today on a few things but my main worry is the emmissions... Apparently at 3000rpm it should be reading 3.5somethings and it was reading 11somethings :-( (the tester did try and explain in Dutch but that was all I could get) So its booked in to a local garage tomorrow to quote and (if I can afford it) get it all fixed, so whats the most likey cause for sky high readings from a G60 that has only done about 2k miles in the last 15months, I had the CAT changed in Oct 2007 so I'm thinking Lamda, although I havent checked and adjusted the values on the BTS but it was fine the last time I looked. Guess the blowing exhaust wont help but could that really cause it to be this far out. And probably sitting round not being driven for the best part of a year and a half and 6 month old petrol hasnt helped :? but just need a few obvious things I should check. Cheers Dan
  6. Loose the VR Lump and fit a nice G60 in there

  8. You can ride Rich and make him sob quietly anytime you like dude I told you that went I moved away and signed him over to you  the new toy is one of these.... http://www.roland.com/products/en/TD-12KV/index.html won it on ebay recently and idealy I want the excuse to take the 60 for a road trip back to the UK with its new speed camera proof Dutch license plates  But it kind of all depends on it passing the Dutch RDW test (MOT) and me sorting insurance etc... So if its not sorted by the end of the month I will just hire something and come get it, will take a few days off to catch up with everyone and ensure a day of car perving at your place of course
  9. First week of July eh... I "should be" back on one the weekends either side of that to collect a new toy... :D may well take an extra day or Two and come help you tinker at your folks place if thats cool? Just spoke to Rich too and he is getting his "Pinkness" tuned that week as well so if all goes well we can laugh at him when it blows up on the dyno
  10. Good work dude :salute: nice to hear both your beasts are getting some tlc rather than you running round helping everyone else for a change. Wish I was still around to give you a hand :-( I havent gotten dirty (car dirty) in ages... And the fine new paint job on mine is gathering dust in the underground car park at work.
  11. From what we have seen of the UK police recently your brother should consider himself lucky he didnt get shoved to the floor from behind or just shot in the head 7 times :cuckoo: :hitler:
  12. If you really fancy a laugh have a look on Piston Heads for 'Corrado Storm' they will be giving them away soon.
  13. Good to hear she's sorted now dude :-) and best of luck with interview! As a matter of course I have always found it a good idea to give any 2nd hand VW a full service including cam belt and pully, thermostat, rotor arm and dizzy asap after buying! As my first MK2 Golf Gti blew a head gasket after just Two weeks of being mine :-( all because the stat stuck shut and cooked the engine, so for want of 20mins tlc and a tenners worth of parts it cost me 170 quid! You can be sure the PO has not put any money into the car for a while if they plan on selling it so just to be safe I always do it now. Cheers Dan

  15. The heatshield has curved hooks in the same please as the original airbox, just use the rubber O-ring things the used to hold your airbox in place to secure it.
  16. Not a great pic but best I can do right now, you can just about see the hose attachment that bolts on in place of the original arbox connector. If you dont mind me asking how much did you pay for the kit 2nd hand?
  17. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=23101 Worth doing if you havent already...

Sure am with the line up looking so good it would be rude not too :-) see you there?
  19. Hi Mate, Things to watch for on the G60 are the charger obviously, you want to see the cert from the last rebuild and if it needs a rebuild factor that in to the price of the car as from G-werks its £380ish (best check with them) to get it done. Also check that the Crank bolt has been changed for a Mk1 DX bolt as the originals can work loose or snap if thay have been removed and refitted! the most important thing is to make sure its had regular oil changes (with decent oil!) and that the current owner has looked after it, I picked up a bit of a shed and its taken me nearly 2 years to get it back to how it should be from years of abuse :-( although having said that its only let me down once and was my daily to work for all that time 8) I think the only thing the VR has over the G60 is the late dash and trim, have driven a few vr's including Goldie's Storm but they just dont do it for me  anyway they are some real gems about at the moment so take your time and pick a well looked after example and you will be hooked the first time you drive One, and the soundtrack when you floor it is just amazing! 8) Cheers Dan

Been enjoying the Dead Weather recently :-) http://thedeadweather.com/
  21. Check the wiring around the Alt as it tends to get cracked and ruined (especially if it’s been sitting round for a while) failing that take the alt to a good auto electrician they should be able to rebuild it or give you a rebuilt exchange unit for a reasonable price.
  22. I could be talking a complete load of Mazda here but I'm fairly sure the coldstart injector fires at WOT as well? At least it did on my old Golf GTi 16v (but then it had been fairly heavly modified by the PO.
