Have you replaced the ECU relay since you have owned the car? Mine started doing the same just after I got it but after replacing the ignition switch and relay it was fine. Cheers Dan

Whats the crack with the CTN box? Is it a better geared direct swap if so that sounds interesting :)
-
Na G-Werks said it could be ported a little further to improve the cooling inside the unit but I didnt have the time to get them to do it (plus my spare charger is R1 G-Werks ported so may swap at some point to see if there is any difference between the Two) Have noticed quite a bit of difference now, once the oil is at 80 and I can boot it the noise and kick in the back is fantastic :luvlove: only thing now is I'm really noticing the rubbish gearing, I really need to recon the box and get the VR 1-2 and 5th cogs in there, its on the list for later in the year unless I can find one already done. The next most important job is a Mocal, and new bushes.. The long term plan is to get the engine out and tidy it all up, the charger looks a bit out of place in my manky bay  Cheers Dan

So the 950 mile round trip back to the UK went off without hitch, although the first thing I did in the Uk was curb a borbet pulling away from the passport control hut.... :bad-words: anyway during the visit I set aside a day for a drive in Charger rebuild from G-Werks. Darren said the casting marks showed it was built in 91 so would have been one of the last G60 chargers produced, I have recepts for VW fitting it brand new in 2002 and a Jabba R1 port and rebuild in 2003 so wasnt sure what to expect when it was cracked open but it had not done that much milage in the 7 years between rebuilds and apparently everything looked good inside as you can see in the pics :D Also had a 68mm pully, an SNS stage5 chip and an RSR Outlet with some nice fat 3" Samco Boost hose fitted, had to drive under 4k for most of the way home but now I have cleared the 400mile run in she is now flying! I'm  cheers G-Werks. Dan

Mine was ported by Jabba in 2003 by the previous owner so cant tell you how much difference it makes really, although binning that silencer fitting a 68mm pully and chip makes a lot of difference to the grunt :D

I went for the drive in service a few weeks ago as the charger is such a tw8t to get off without air tools but am very happy with the results... had a 68mm pully, SNS chip and RSR outlet fitted at the same time, now my drive to work puts a stupid smile on my face every day! 8)

Cheers Slim, Yea I want to run with the original oil filter so am heistant to just slap on the mocal kit. I just had the charger rebuilt and a 68mm pully and SNS stg5 chip fitted and on the trip home I noticed I could reach 116 degrees on the oil (without exceeding the 4k rpm charger run in limit) so I really need to address the oil cooling now  I noticed when I got my samco kit that the Two pipes that should feed the oil cooler had been linked with a bent copper pipe so I gues the guy had removed the standard water/oil cooler to fit a Mocal kit, just need a better idea of whats involved :-) Cheers Dan

Anyone know if these are any deeper than the stock item? Am looking at a mocal and new Sump but Im a bit worried about clearence due to how low the car is, I havent scraped sump on it yet but there really isnt a great deal of room down there! 8) Also I hear if I fit the Mocal sandwich plate I cant run the stock oil filter any more, is there any option that removes the whole water/oil cooler unit so you can run a sandwich plate with the stock oil filter? Cheers Dan

If you can ask for a cash in Lieu settlement, basicly get all the pics you can of the car looking stunning along with links to VR's for sale out there (only the mint expensive ones ;-) Now price up the parts you need 2nd hand and speak to a local garage about fitting, or you could swap the entire front end on your drive, price up a front end respray + a bit for yourself and send the figure you come to, with the pics and ensure they DO NOT write off your car! Dont give in keep fighting and you will get it sorted, hope this helps! Cheers Dan

Hi Mate, Sounds like you may have a number of problems there, in addition to Oil Pressure and timing I would defanitly suggest checking out the bits mentioned towards the end of this guide, BTS, Engine ECU, vac hoses etc. http://www.matey-matey.com/g60-guide.shtml Cheers Dan
-
I would guess its the stock item as it has the VW and Audi logo's stamped on it.

Hi Mate, you could get one from VW or your local scrapy, I believe the 16v Golf has the same alt bracket setup. Cheers Dan

So the C is booked in to Gwerks in early June for a Charger rebuild 68mm pully, SNS stg 5 chip, RSR outlet and Samco boost hoses 8) cant wait! also got round to fitting the rear JBL's today required some trimming of the bracket to get them in but I'm very pleased with the results, cant decide if I want to get a set of 13cm JBL's in the door or Audioscape door pods, any one have any comments on why I should spend the cash on new pods v's simply upgrading the std speakers? Cheers Dan

Getting lazy in my old age  just dropped it off to the garage for a full service all belts fluids etc, new brake lines and goodrich hoses on the front (as the PO only did the back ones  ) Cant wait to get back to the UK in June got a GWerks visit lined up for the charger rebuild, and to fit my spare ECU complete with stg5 SNS chip and smaller pully  Hopefully I can get back in time for the first of the Summer South Coast meets! Cheers Dan

Bad news indeed :-( keep us posted on the insurance front though, remember a lot of business gets put their way from here and although we all dread having to make a claim its good to get real world examples of their service when it counts so to speak... Fingers crossed for you mate!

My Brothers came over for xmas and took the Dover to Calais ferry and from there its about 3.5 hours drive to get to Amsterdam, the ferry was less than 100 quid for 4 passengers and the car. Cheers Dan

Never had to do it on the C but if I was you I would be tempted to pull up the boot carpet and undo the screws holding down the plastic circle underneath, at least on a golf this is were you can pull out both the in tank pump and float/sender unit, you should be able to see if its broken/sticky not operating correctly. Hope this helps :) Dan
