Just found this thread and saw my name still gets mentioned when there's talk of climatronic! Good luck with the install, it's not too bad really and the pain is worth it ten times over once you've finished. I'm just doing mine for a second time as I'm going OBD2, in some ways it's looking like it'll be a better job because the new loom I'm fitting (which has been sat in the shed for over three years!) has got a lot of climatronic stuff in it already. While I'm at it I'll be looking for a new condensor too as the Passat one I used last time is huge and meant hacking loads of the front panel out, something out of a later model will be going in there. Have fun!!!

Few years ago I bought my wife an S3, it was an early facelift model with Revo remap making about 260bhp. I liked it but she was not so impressed. climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfS3.JPG[/attachment:2f4i5wag] So we replaced it with an R32. Deep Blue Pearl 3 door, the best there is! Anyway she loved that car, raved about it over the S3, drove it for a couple of years and was very reluctant to sell it. 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfR32.JPG[/attachment:2f4i5wag] And so that is now replaced with a Mk 2 3.2 TT. Very nice refined car, similar to drive to the R32 but slightly better spec, also better build quality but obviously that's reflected in the price! TT.JPG[/attachment:2f4i5wag] She'd still drive the Corrado over all of them but we keep that for nice days only.........but in answer to your question, I'd go for the R32 every time.....and they're not too much money these days for a lot of car.

I just took the cover off mine and started it for the first time since October 2008! Started first time, not a problem    Drove it forward and backward about a foot just to unseize the brakes, got everything warm and then put it back to sleep

I'm with Leonard, that would be a pretty special motor in my eyes too, why don't they make one??? I'm just trying to swap my wife's Mk4 R32 for something newer. First I suggested an RS4 but she thinks they look too plain, too much like an A4. Then we started looking at the 996 Carrera 4S but "it's simply not practical enough" with limited seating and shopping space. So now we're looking for a Mk5 R32 but it must be deep blue pearl, 3 door, manual and with hard backed recaros........there's of course one of those on every street corner....not! Why are there so few interesting cars to choose from???

You can buy Schrick bits from Vince at Stealth, I bought a complete set of gaskets for mine plus a new actuator a few years ago. No idea how much the bits were though but be warned, they're not cheap! I'm on the look out for a new inlet elbow for mine when I finally get around to bolting on the OBD II bits and was quoted around £450 for it over two years ago

10 years and 8 MOTs.......sat on axle stands in the garage the last 2 years while I work in Saudi. Used as a daily before that, 70+ thousand miles. The only MOT work was replacing hard brake lines on the rear in 2007.........no complaints!

Blue Storm snapped in Stratford on Friday by a mate of mine......anyone here?

Corrado meet - Brooklands 1997 - where are they now?
tonedef replied to Bullfinch's topic in General Car Chat
I had my young daughter in the passenger seat, she's 19 now, when I opened the door to get her out and nearly lost it! There was a guy with a nugget G60 took his right up to the top of the banking too.......I wasn't having any of that  -

I think KIP means 2011 as this year (2010) it's going to be oop north. Hopefully another loft visit this weekend may uncover some more gems. I was at Brooklands in 1996 with the 1.8v Ink Blue and I think those photos were taken in front of the main(?) Brooklands building. There were some taken on the banking too. It rained while we were driving the cars up and it was slippery as.........can't imagine how they used to race around it! I've got photos and all the early Sprinters at home but unfortunately I'm 5,000 miles away until Easter or I'd dig them out. -

You heard the petrol is like washing powder story too  Maybe he used it at the AGM one year, I was there a couple of times. -

I was trying to find mine on the picture but then realised there are too many Corrados in it.......I was there with G43 KUH in 96 with maybe 10 or so others if you find anything.......Jeremy Bromley's motor was dead in the car park and left on a transporter IIRC! I've got some photos at home somewhere but I'll not be there until after Easter to look for them. I was also at the first meeting at Gaydon but don't remember taking any photos. -
Following on from our many PMs about this! The biggest problem you have trying to get info on here is that we didn't get factory fitted a/c in Britain so it's highly unlikely you're going to find somebody with this option in a Corrado, as A1 VR6 says our Diavia systems were installed by the dealers before delivery of the cars and were operated by two push buttons. You'd be more likely to get help regarding the slider controls from people that have Golfs, Jettas, Passats etc of a similar age but with factory fit a/c. The first stage of the fan should be activated by the start of the air con/climatronic (if you install it) or the first stage of coolant temperature switch F18, the second stage should be switched by the second stage of F18. There should be no need to install a later VR6 fan controller as it would only overcomplicate things. From what you described earlier you already have a problem with the operation of the fan, get to the bottom of that first before starting on the next problem.....it sounds like it may be a relay issue???

I have a 95 N ONH....what do I win?

They go over the fan inlet under the left side of the scuttle......keep the inside of your screen so much cleaner too.

KADVR6 had one for sale a few weeks back, thought about buying myself but decided not to in the end.....don't know if he's still got it but no mention in the thread that it has sold. http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=81396

Biggest problem with angel eyes is that the dip beam goes off when main beam is on, I rewired everything so they all come on and it made loads of difference. hi m8, sorry to hi-jack someone else's topic but can you tell me exactly how you re-wired your in-pros so the low beam stays on and can this be done using HIDS sorry but I'm not very good with electrics, i live in the country and my high beams are useless. I knew somebody was going to have to ask that question and I'd have to try figure it out what I did 3 years ago while I'm 4,000 miles from my car in Saudi! I added an extra relay for each headlight as in the attached drawing, I used fused relays, if you use normal ones it's best to put an in line fuse between battery and relay. Also if you already have an uprated loom, this wiring should be added on the headlight side of it. I did it this way because if the relay ever fails you still have lights. There's no reason it shouldn't work with HIDs I plan to fit them in mine some time as the R32 comes with them and I've upgraded the bike also, it can be difficult driving the Corrado sometimes! Hope this helps.

EH!?!? Are you serious?!? Yep, Im not that keen on them. There maybe not chavvy as such but they appeal to more of a chav audience I think. Dont like the big deep bumpers, skirts etc. The Mk5 is more restrained in my eyes. Im more of a Q car preson anyway i.e. something that looks stock/plain but it fast as fook. Mk4 chavvy, first time I've been accused of that! I bought my wife a Mk4 last year and she loves it although she does prefer her Corrado when I occasionally let her take it out of the garage for a drive! In our house Mk5s are known as R32 style Golfs :norty:

That's the kind of thing I'm looking for....need to try find someone that's done it with classic green now! Cheers

Last month I had some paintwork done on my R32 and was talking with the guy in the paintshop about painting the Corrado when I finally get chance to start work on it. I don't want to change from Classic Green as I think dark colours really suit it but I was wondering if anything could be done to make it look not so dull, he suggested mixing extra colour into the lacquer to increase the flip on it, he also said if we do this he'll mix lots extra to keep on a shelf in case I ever need repairs! Has anybody else tried this? It might be the only time I ever have a complete paint job done on the Corrado, it's in pretty good condition already but rather than touch up the couple of bits that need attention I'm going to have a full repaint and I thought I might be able to give it a bit more presence........a bit like the R32 looks in blue (the only colour an R32 should be allowed in!) while staying with the original colour

How I'm missing the English summer, today's been a bit cool here too, didn't make 40C today! Let me know if you need any help with the CC, it's straight forward enough, there's just lots of things you have to squeeze in behind the dash and under the bonnet. Well worth it in the end though......I've got mine all to do again when I fit the OBD2 loom. I'm going to fit a later condenser too and get rid of the huge thing that came out of the Passat, the one in the R32 is tiny in comparison. I had to move the radiator back when I fitted the existing condenser so now there's about 3mm clearance between the fans and the Schrick.....if you're doing an AC refit to CC it might be worth considering the same.

Good question! I've always been under the impression that relays is relays, as long as they have the right internal configuration and the pins are in the right place, then they're going to do the right job....aren't they??? Unless somebody knows better then I'd say why not try something that fits! Regarding the question about fans coming on with AC....the white wire from relay 017019 to the fans via the Radiator Water Switch is powered at the same time as the compressor.......that should run the fans, probably at first speed I expect. Wish I could offer more ideas but being 4,000 miles away from my Corrado (and having CC in it rather than AC) sort of hinders me a little.........on the subject of CC, did you pick that up? I'm wanting to somebody else get it installed.

+1 I read your posts yesterday Neil and thought the same, you've been having these troubles off and on for the last few years. Think I'd be letting somebody diagnose what the fault is and fix it, might cost a few quid getting it done but maybe it'll save keep stabbing in the dark? There's nobody I know of in Sheffield but I do know a guy in Chessie who's pretty hot on problems like this if you're interested?

And you're going to buy the Climatronic install from dinkus.............that way lies madness, believe me  You'll have no joy with Bentley by the way, it's based on the Yank version so they cover the factory install a/c not available to us mere Brits, we had to make do with the dealer installed aftermarket kit :cuckoo:

I know we chatted about this a bit before, your post just got me thinking about it again and I had a look at the wiring diagram.....attached here. Take a look at the wiring from the fans, there's a red/black wire connects to an orange wire through a diode which then goes back to the Trinary Switch (whatever that is???) which is in turn connected to the compressor clutch relay. Bit of a stab in the dark but if the diode is goosed or even missing, then the whole system could be back feeding and kicking the a/c in from the fans rather than the reverse which is the desired effect? Oh yes, and good luck!
