  1. Robrado - where did you get the stickers? My red VR6 badge is a little faded. I assume you used something similar to the one used on Wheeler Dealers? Having been pointed to Renewart for fog/indicator protectors, I noticed he does some pretty cool replica badges. Not sure how much?
  2. Thanks for the advice - just need to figure out how to buy some of those fog/indicator covers?
  3. I now have a set of crack-free headlights, fog and indicators (thanks Diarmaid16). Having read this and other posts, there appears to be various options to keep them crack-free, including protective films and plastic covers. I'm tempted by Lamin-x as per this old thread - but does it really protect your lights?? Any recommendations where to buy it (links on this thread are old). Alternatively, someone on eBay (linked to this forum?) is offering some perspex acrylic headlight covers for £25 - does anyone have any feedback on these? Do they fit well and look good? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Corrado-Headlight-Covers-Perspex-Acrylic/263088642197?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 Does anyone have any other suggestions?
  4. I agree - £50 for a small amount of plastic seems crazy. But how much does someone pay for an OEM VR6 badge that is the 'finishing touch', especially when you can't buy them anymore? I suppose it depends on how much you want OEM vs replica (not that I have seen a perfect replica??). Personally £50 would definitely be upper limit for an OEM badge - lucky I already have one. At the end of the day, we love these cars and seem happy to spend time, effort and LOTS OF MONEY keeping them on the road and looking good. The secret is - don't tell the wife how much it costs ;-)
  5. Well that did not stick around, seems it's already SOLD.
  6. If anyone needs a grill badge, someone is selling a red VR6 badge in fair condition on eBay for £50. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CORRADO-VR6-RED-GRILL-BADGE-EXTREMLEY-RARE-/132268094149?hash=item1ecbcaf2c5:g:SnsAAOSwgDRZcRAW OEM badges seem to go for silly money nowadays, so at that price I'm guessing it will sell pretty quick? EDIT - I'm guessing the seller is a Corrado fan as he is also selling the original Corrado roof bars - I used to have a set of them, not that I would put anything on my Corrado roof nowadays :-)
  7. Gary, Payment sent, thanks for sorting me out. Regards, James
  8. Are de-badged grills late type and A1 condition? Thanks
  9. Hi, Has anyone got a Corrado Bentley Service Manual they want to sell for a fair price? Ideally hardcover, but not that fussed. Regards, James
  10. Hi, Your car looks amazing, if I hadn't just bought a Corrado I'd consider it myself. For what it is worth, Cat A/B is fair enough, but I find the whole Cat C/D thing madness. My first VR6 was a Cat D but it was an amazing car. It had sustained light front end damage which had been well repaired - you'd never know. The engine ran amazingly well and everything worked. The problem was when I came to sell it, it took ages, presumably because people were put off by the Cat D label. I eventually sold it to some bloke who did not look after it - such a shame. Good luck with sale, I hope your car goes to a good home.
  11. Stu, sorry, no longer need parcel shelf. If anybody else needs one, the parcel shelf Stu is offering looks to be in very good condition.
  12. It's been a while since I've played with spanners and the like, so I'm all eyes and ears for any advice or top tips!
  13. Can anyone tell me why VW made some later-style grills with one open vent, and others with three open vents. I am thinking of changing mine to a grill with three open vents - but does it actually make much difference? Surely VW installed one open vent grills for a reason?
  14. Hi, watching your thread with interest. Couple of weeks ago, I bought my 3rd VR6 after a 9 year gap. It is also a 92 (K), flash red, with early interior, facelift exterior. Having looked at several, I bought this one because it is really clean in and out, and runs really well after a Stealth head rebuild, chains and other bits about 10 years ago then driven hardly since. The owner before last had it 15 years and money seems to have been no problem :-) Your jobs list looks remarkably similar to mine, please let us know what you use and what works well. I'm busy with work at the moment, but got 2 weeks off work at end of the month, so plan to service it, do some jobs, then enjoy it for a while before sticking it in my workshop for a full OEM+ restoration. Never get bored of the sound of a VR6!! Hope your project goes well. Regards, James
  15. Hi, Interested in the black parcel shelf if in good condition and not already gone? Also need a front indicator light on passenger side, previous posts wanted fog light, but not sure if they took just the fog or both fog & indicator? Needs to be crack free. Regards, James
  16. Hi, I've got a 92 VR6. I assume all VR6 are the later style 20mm? (4 larger panels and 1 small panel near the windscreen) If so, I'll take one please. Can you pm me payment details. Thanks.
  17. Thanks Orkius for info - but seen a really nice VR6 and decided to go for that instead - hope to be driving it by the weekend :-)
  18. Thanks swiftkid for tip regarding 1.8T, but went to look at an immaculate VR6 last night and simply put - no comparison. So, I've decided to ditch the idea of a 16v engine swap and go with what I know. If all goes to plan, I should be driving my 3rd Corrado by the weekend.
  19. Hi all, Can someone explain to me the pros and cons of a distributor VR6 compared to a coil pack VR6? Someone once told me the distributor VR6s run better - or did I imagine that? Regards, James
  20. Again, thanks for advice. Can anyone outline ballpark £££ of a 1.8T conversion if I try to do as much as possible myself? Has anyone got a decent 1.8T engine for sale?
  21. Thanks seanl82, 1.8t done a lot... I suppose that makes a more suitable undertaking for my first attempt. Whilst I'm looking forward to getting behind the wheel of a Corrado again, I'm also looking to get the spanners out and learn some new stuff. TFSI - the lack of info would be a concern, so thanks for pointing this out.
  22. What I'm trying to figure out is: £2k 16v car + £? for engine swap or £5k for a reasonable VR6 + budget for usual work (head, chains etc) I know and love VR6s, but I'm tempted by the challenge of an 16v conversion. I just want to understand what I'm letting myself in for a bit better :-)
  23. Thanks swiftkid, That's what I suspected with subframe and like-for-like engine swaps. My initial thoughts were a 1.8T, but TFSI is a good shout - anyone got any advice for first time engine-swapper?
  24. Thanks dr_mat. Do those differences lead to additional work if I try to stick an R32 engine into the 16V? 20VT seems to be a popular choice, but always tempted by additional cylinders.
