lovely jubbly!! last night i spent a few minutes checking over the early grill & was chuffed to find that all 3 parts have all of their respective clips in place the 16v badge only needs a wipe over & im currently mulling over if i can use nitromors to strip the paint off the grill or if i should give it a rub down instead

you are quite correct redborbet - there are quite a few threads on here about air feeds & do's & dont's & pro's & con's IIRC Kev Bacon had done some rolling road output tests with stealth to compare stock air box, stock air box with snorkel removed & BMC - with the BMC being the only one which gave an increase in power output again IIRC with regard to the snorkel, i believe they are there for a specific reason, IE to increase the air flow entering the standard air box, & though it can change the sound it 'could' have a detrimental effect to performance if removed my only other input would be to consider the 'heat soak' effect which i think can make a K&N a worse preformer than standard air box - & this is the reason the BMC is designed as it is with the carbon fiber canister to avoid sucking in hot air oh & one final thing which ive previously mentioned....the BMC sound is just awesome at all revs & looks gorgeous with one of daves16v brackets!!!! :D

diirty word ewww!!!! lol [ with exception of an E reg M3 Evo ;) ]

you guessed right, we do indeed....its like a little club :D

good advice heeded Jim thank you i think it is one of those jobs that even if you have done it before it will result in lots of 'F'ing & blinding' at awkward bits that should be easy but prove to be little barstewards good luck with the next step m8 & i will look forward to your updates in due course
-
OK thanks Jim - really appreciate your feedback i have another guide which is the dash in option - think i might give that a go as by the sound of it you have to wrestle the matrix out either way
-
ahh ok Jim how are you finding it so far? any tips? (though mine will be on an early so very slightly different) oh & is the guide much help?
-
if you look in the 'suppliers' section on the front page of the forum you will find a couple of options for uprated headlight looms or click here http://the-corrado.net/forumdisplay.php?f=20 ;)
-
Jim - ive seen your updates on the other matrix thread im glad it sounds like your finally starting to win!
-
Morning Jim Did you dive into the matrix job on the weekend then? how did you get on so far m8 & what parts did you find you needed? i had to move back to my apartment so missed the clear weather
-
ouch! poor sheep but even more poor rado im sure something attracts bad events to fresh paint on rado's :( good luck

this guide may answer your question mic_VR http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5598465-Passat-Moonroof-Swap-amp-Headliner-Removal-DIY-Tutorial

welcome here & welcome back to a rado! im sure there was lots of info on here about this motor somewhere
-
it is one of these :D http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=10426&highlight=handle+repair i brought both sides & have only used the drivers so far. not only did it fix the handle but it means no new lock, keys etc etc & it gives a much better feel when opening the door apologies if you want the delocked handles tho ;)

my thoughts exactly wullie

another little update.... final BBS wheel is having the crack on the lip repaired - i hope it comes back soon as i need to polish it before rebuilding & im dying to get them on the valver my gf's mom has said i can borrow her garage to do my vavler's matrix so that takes pressure off me missing this weekends fine weather (i was moving back to my apartment from my parents house as the summer is gone already) yeee-haaa!! the early grill i found on ebay last week has arrived & it has all 4 tabs in place & the 16v badge & the VW badge.....all for under half of what ive seen front vr6 badges selling for in past few weeks. Plus im glad i didnt opt for the VW Heritage one as they are without both badges & twice the price a quick rub down, plastic primer & some black & it should be ready to fit....as it is now...
-
My word!!! im glad i snapped up the early grill WITH both 16v badge & VW badge off ebay last week as it seems ive saved myself a small fortune! which incidentally has just landed on my desk & though needs a respray has all tabs in place etc :D GLWS!! I may have to look at selling my OEM silver VR6 rear badge ;)
-
it dont half m8!! im sure 3 of the guys watching me leave a local car meet last night cricked their necks as they whipped round to see what was making THAT noise lol
-
not when combined with a BMC hofmiester ;) full on mother hubbard of a roar when at full chat with 263's & BMC but then quiet as a mouse cruising on motorway until you give it some go pedal :D
-
thats a tough one m8 as there are so many potential variables so as to do a like for like comparison what system is on yours at present? is it the standard VW? pics would help establish any differences most 'standard' VR's are relatively quiet until they really come on cam & then start to roar however, it only takes a BMC CDA to completely change the tone & sound of the VR. I speak from personal experience on this front & adore the grunty burble kind of resembling a V8 when given a touch of throttle at low revs (FYI my VR still has its genuine VW exhaust system)
-
welcome. make yourself at home

Thats a tidy 'to-do' list m8 & sounds like good progress so far from my personal experience, & taking on board wise thoughts etc from well rado-educated users on here (kev bacon for instance), i would advise not to buy the jubilee clips from roose for their hoses & use the original OEM spring tension clips. it has been mentioned on here in the past couple of weeks that they are a much better clip & in retrospect i wish i had retained mine rather than let stealth throw them out :( my only caveat would be to check with roose that it will not invalidate their warranty it might also be wise to plan for a new sump oil pump if you have not already done so, mine was struggling so much after the work at stealth that it ended up over pressurising the system & causing issues out of interest, what kind of cost is the teves20 ABS & have you any links to info on it?

good ol chap indeed! :)

I agree it is littered with inaccuracies & judging by recent sales of excellent examples the prices listed are fairly out of sync with trend. however, it is complimentary in many ways & implies one of the main reasons why we are all on this forum, which is the way that people (when they are in the know or have owned a rado) falling love with the plethora of pleasures they provide :D thanks for posting a copy of it John PS i love the way the corrado gets another write up referencing porsche (caption in the top right photo)
