You take the isv off while the car was running?? It would stall if u did that, I would have checked the isv first, would guess stickin/or slightly stuck from what u say, take it off, fill with wd-40, wrap in a plastic bag n give it a good shake, or let it soak in it over night if u have the time.

Don't wanna be another one to nag that you should keep this but...... I gotta. Make this awd then put a r32 in it, build yourself a new turbo, almost every part of this car is your work James, one of a kind, keep these wheels turning. Surly this option would be better on the bank acount too.

I've a set of rs recaros in my shed, sat on the corrado floor with no subframes is just a little lower than standard corrado seats, I had a lot of different ideas for makin my own subframes but got sidetracked with an engine conversion. Like someone else said above, were the bottoms meet the subframes is realy high. Out of all the ideas I had cutting the bottoms prett much off and cutting all the standard seat rails and makin all my own seemed like the best option. They also foul on the centre console alot if your a short arse like me and run them all the way forwards

If you go back to abf management your gunna have some trouble with the cams you have, iv heard alot that abf on k-jet is alittle quicker than standard abf, don't quote me on that tho, I've no proof, simply hear say. Has the ecu you have been chipped at all to realy benefit from the bigger cams? Or has the previous owners simply advanced the timing alittle. If you go abf managemnt with your current set up your gunna want it setting up properly on rollers.

Fuckin amazing, everytime I come check this thread I save a bunch of pictures. One of my favorite corrados at the moment, next time I'm up Durham I'll keep my eyes peeled. Do people still meet at the retail park on the edge of Belmont?

Bleak mate, were do ya start lookin for internal oil leaks?? It's a nightmare, have you had your plugs out to see if any indication as to which cylinder you could be loosing oil into, it's possible that having too much oil in the begining has blown a ring, i thought ied blown the seals on my 2nd cylinder on my valver the otherweek, took the inlet manifold off to find oil in the inlet ports, looks like pickin up an engine of someone on this forum could be a nice cheap option,

If sparkz is gunna do it for ya you haven't gotta worry about nothing, drop ya car off with him and go put ya feet up and have a cuppa. He will do a realy good job.

G60 brakes are fine, I don't get why putting a vr in a valver is so often frowned upon. Vr engines seem easy to get hold of than valvers at the minute. Sellin a valver rado to buy a vr one wouldn't work for me because I love the car I have, and have spent a fair bit of time doin other stuff to the car, who is it you got planned to so the swap, not sparkz is it? Ie recomend gettin corrado vr clocks, and tank and pump to get an accurate fuel readin, mine tells me I have leas petrol than I actually do, I also used a mk3 vr subframe, Its definatly worth takin a week, and you don't need vr bonnet etc just shave alittle off the rear mount.
-
The swap can be done in a weekend if your experienced, and know exactly what's involed as opposed to dealin with what ever is gunna come your way, obd2 realy is straight plug in. I've just spent a week doin mine, allday everyday. But I also rebushed and did alot of other jobs whilst I was at it. I personally don't think 1200 is too good to be true, I picked up a engine, gearbox all ancillarys and rad, magnex system, amd chipped ecu car runs 200bhp,driveshafts, 288 brakes, mk3 tank n pump, everything needed and more for 300quid, I stayed 4stud and sold a buch of parts. I was lucky to get what I got for that price but you can pick up mk3 vrs for around 500quid (my friend sold his lasses for 400 the otherweek after it had been rear ended) at the moment and break and sell otherparts to make back. I've made money putting my vr in, it's only cost me time, but I enjoyed every minute of it nice holiday from plastering.
-
Matey if you got obd2 it's a piece of piss, your gunman want a subrame aswel. 1200 supplied and fitted is pretty good, did mine for 300quid

Yeh it probly is, and guessed most people had done it that way, as I've found no threads were anyone has used the lighting part, I don't have an obd1 loom, my vr is and always was obd2 it's a 2.8 from a golf, I never stripped the loom down, I put it all through the fire wall and intend to do this wen I have the time, was intrested to know how anyone found the set up if they had done it
-
Has anyone when fitting the obd2 loom, looked into using the mk3 lighting loom and splicing corrado connections in, as opposed to running two seperate looms?

Go easy knife edgein, files, dremels and different grades of sandpaper,

Try this link mate if ya haven't already http://mk2vr6.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=7831 iv a few spare fuseboards i'll try n ge a decent pic of the wiring in one so ya can see what's goin on, and try n remeber what all the differences are
-
This isn't 100% was a long time since I messed with obd1 in a mk2, I've never done this in a corrado, there should be a yellow and red wire that you wanna plug into a live point on the end of the fuse board, that should solve ya pump priming. I'll try and find a pic to help, I'm guessing you have a heavy red in your lighting loom providing power to the fuseboard, i had my mk2 battery to starter, earth to gearbox, gearbox to chassis. I'll be wiring a obd2 into a corrado tomorrow. So I'll see what similaritys we have and keep ya posted. Stick ya finger in, when it feels good, bingo! I've never shoved anything other than a finger in there!

Can't say for sure cos my 9a runs on kr management. But as far as I've seen ya can just chge the sensors, kee pm junior on lowdown he's got all the answers fir 9as. Dunno if you or the previous owners have changed much on your valver but I've a few spares for sale, there on lowdown, as soon as I've my engine out I'll have some more, kr cams, 4branch, 50mm inlet, etc etc stil got the spare doorcrds n pillar covers and bits of trim if ya still want em.

If ya wanna keep your clocks and there cable speedo not electric just use 1.3 mk2 speedo cable. If it's obd2 ur gunna want the keys and ingintion barrel and wires for the imobiliser, u can use all the running gear from a mk3 bolts straight up and gives a wider track, or just use the mk3 subframe and keep all your hubs etc, just remember to upgrade your brakes, 280s off 4stud mk3gtis or g60s, your gunna want a corrado front cross member and a corrado radiator would fit better, www.mk2vr6.com , corrados n mk2s have the same front end, http://www.a2resource.com/electrical/CE2.html helps with wiring. 16v fuel pump is good enuff for the job, gives ya time to get a vr one. Corrados have two differnt front ends, vrs have bigger bonnets with a bulge and different wings, but u can get a vr in without changing these, maybe just shave alittle of the rear engine mount.
-
Can any tell me weather the mk3 vr in tank pump wil fit and click into my early corrado 16v tank? And possibly save me ten minutes of getting my hands covered in petrol, cheers
-
All the valvers I've had have run around 100, highest iv ever noticed it get sat in traffic is around 115 and that was the otherweek, Oil temp is the only thing I always trust on the mfa if you've not done an oil and water change yourself dice u had the car or hve no idea when it was last done, then it ain't gunna hurt to do it, doesn't take too long, as for running a vr radiator the hoses plumb in the other side of the rad so u would have to make up some piping ya self, my friend used to run a deisel rad on his 9a Jetta.
-
My wirings shot too, my heaters don't work and I've set my wipers up on a live switch till I get all new looms for the car made up by my mate, here's ya set up guide, tells ya how to adjust fueling, it's pretty simple, helps if u got a matey till help ya out, just take ya time n make sure your fully confident you know what ya doing before u jump straight into, this is were iPhones come in handy, u can read the guide whilst lookin round the bay.

Personally I would get all my electrics back to standard, ideally with out the alarm as they often confuse me. If the problem continues, then that's one job fixed and one more thing to rule out, as fir mile per gallon I tend to judge that on how many trips I have to make to the petrol station rather than believing what my mfa tells me, my mfa often tells me I'm doing 19mph wen I'm actually blitzing down the motorway, as for missing power, were is your dizzy positioned? Could u do with a little advance or retard? do u need to re-set up your fuel mixture?

http://clubgti.com/forum/showthread.php?t=186796 this guides ideal, it helps to have a second pair of hands for the tensioner pulley as you've probly found, and it's a pain in the arse wen it's in the car, as the timing mark on the cover for the crank pulley is a nightmare to see, you don't need ya cam cover on wen getting the belt tight and is good for peice of mind when u can see all the timing marks, if ur struggleing with the cam sprocket timing dots leave the exaust one down tight and simply undo all the caps for the inlet cam, u can turn the inlet cam if u remove one stud, you'll see which one wen your struggling to lift it out. Make sure u put all the caps the correct way round on in the correct order as if only one is the wrong way round the cam won't turn. Make sure you can turn your cam belt 90 just about degrees, that way u know it's not too tight or too loose. Hope that all makes sense. I'll happily talk ya through it on the phone I ya struggling
