Madness! you skipped a perfectly good spoiler? was it broken?
-
AGH! :bomb: realy! it's only a kilo or so... does it really help that much?! :confused4: ---------- Post added at 03:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:04 PM ---------- or are you saying ill blind in the same way folk tell me ill go blind if I continue to... you know.... 6 times a day

when you see the little "divet" in the rubber, the metal clip fits into that when you clip it on the the subframe (one end clips and the other has a bolt hole). That'll show you, if i was at home I'd take a picture to show you
-
The one attached to the front of the subframe... Do i need it? looks like a hunk of pointless steel to me but i assume it helps in some way? is it vibration form the steering rack? suspension? advice please on removing
-
the split goes towards the subframe with the curved top facing up. It should be obvious when you have it attached and the clip that goes over the ARB bush is in place, it follows the curve of the rubber.

ahh well never mind! -
trouble with that is that battery acid also attacks the steel. Citric acid only attacks the rust. :) ---------- Post added at 10:14 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:14 AM ---------- just works allot quicker when hot thats all.

well, just to let you know I'll probably be taking red's set (depending on pictures) but I will be needing a passenger side calliper as well so I'll take corsa's calliper please. Pm sent :)
-
I understand! it's ok mate, corsa got in first so he has first dibs (as per forum rules). You ain't standing on anyone's toes! :)
-
LOL Dilema! you both offered me a passenger calliper and both for £25 posted and both of a similar condition.... I'll have a think and ask my mate and let you guys know. 3corsameal: you sure yours is a passenger side yeah?
-
that's the stuff I used mate! it's essentially Citric acid with some de-greasing agent thrown in. Next time i'm going to save myself a packet and just get a kilo of citric acid from here:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1kg-Citric-acid-food-grade-Top-quality-/140426902395?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Food_SM&hash=item20b2187b7b

showing your maturity well i see! anywho, you should know it's not the waves in the water it's the motion in the ocean :afro:

good question! I imagine they use the US gallon tbh... 1 US gallon = 0.83267384 Imperial gallons therfore more like 6.348 Gallons and 33.63 MPG That would make more sense and also reflect your actual MFA readings...
-
your lucky you didn't get a "RIM" based joke tbh! It's touch and go with this lot... especially where RIMS are concerned  lots of touching and going....
-
that sounds good mate! I'll let you know when i find out what i need and also see what the others come back with :) It looks like I may need more than 1 set (one for me and one for my mate) so please keep your info and pictures coming peeps. :)

On a more serious note, I have replaced the PAS pipes and fitted the new hubs. All I need to do now is fit some new callipers and carriers and then I'll be ready to reassemble the old girl and drop here on her shiny new coil-overs! :D however... the callipers I was going to use (above) are goosed, or at least one of them is. The other one i need to give to a pal for his MOT (the golf above... failed Mwah!) so i'm on the hunt for new 280mm callipers (gunna keep my carriers, they look fine and have new bolts for them) ---------- Post added at 02:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:38 PM ---------- thanks jim! BTW I have an idea for the sprinter I'd like to put by you... I'll pm you later when i get a moment.

Hello, welcome to Alex's Country Home Cooking :chef: Today we'll be preparing some brake and rust soup, delicious First off you'll need approximately 100g of industrial citric acid solution. I got mine from here http://www.carnaubawaxshop.co.uk/detailing/89/bilthamber-deoxc-1kg?return=L2RldGFpbGluZy1wcm9kdWN0cy8xNi9ydXN0LXJlbW92YWxwcmV2ZW50aW9uP3NvcnRieT0= but you can just as well get some from your local chemist. 5-6 pints of mineral water (soft water works better than hard) several good sized rusty components, today I chose to use carriers and some loose screws but you can easily make this recipe with other steel components. Step one: place the citric acid and the water on the hob to simmer. I used a little fairy liquid as well to aide de-greasing and make a lovely nice fresh smell. Step 2: add the carriers and other components to the stock and allow the water to simmer for 5 minuets. Notice the fizzing reaction as you add the ingredients. Step 3: after 5 minuets stir the soup and then turn off the heat. Pop a lid on the pot and allow to cool naturally for 30-40mins. for best results i always find it's nice to use steel that hasn't been pre-treated with pesticides or paint... Always choose organic produce if you can! Step 4: serve with a penetrating fluid vinaigrette to prevent further oxidation prior to painting. It is intersting to note that some like to add fish to the recipe at this stage... often tuna or canned salmon... Don't do this :nono: Join me next week when I'll show you how to make a lovely brake calliper casserole!

I think that's the one i need! I'll have a check tonight and get back to you, how much would you want for it?
-
I'd love it if you rub them down for me, I'll not be wanting them red. You can keep the high temp paint though, I'm going to paint them purple to match my samco hoses and KW suspension. Hows £30 plus postage? ---------- Post added at 12:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:35 PM ---------- I think i need g60 specific btw, I'll need to check. 3corsameal: I'd love yours if they fit (unpainted so less work to paint purple)... I have a pal who needs some 280mm brakes for a mk2 conversion so ill check the part numbers and let you know.# EDIT: it's a 54 caliper so thats the one i need! Do you know what side it is? drivers or passengers?
-
sound good... I only need the calipers though. How much delivered to dundee? can you take a picture?
-
Two (left and right hand side) g60 280mm calipers please! must be in good working order :)

Hi Chris, do you have any 280mm callipers lying around? -
OK the deal is as follows they do ensure modded cars.... HOWEVER! there are a few requirements to be considered 1. you must have at least 1 years no claims (if you have two or more cars you need no claims bonus on BOTH cars!) 2. The Modifications can not represent more than a 50bhp increase to the car The bloke on the phone was very helpful and if I had the no claims he was after he would have been happy to give me a quote. he also said that classic car insurance would be beneficial to me and suggested other brokers to contact! was very pleased with the entire conversation. He did say that Modded cars used to be insured by their underwriters but that a year ago they changed their policies (not chris knott... the underwriters they work for). Tis a shame!

Hey folks! Don't have any gasket paper so will have to wait till I do before I remove the throttle body. Can I use gasket paste or should I stick with paper? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250788257403 Next; yesterday I cleaned up the hubs ready to g on the car... I wanted to go purple but that will have to just be the callipers now I think. Before After And then they both got a coat of hamerite (direct to rust) Made sure I didn't spray the bearings or the hub itself, should keep the grime off for a few years. Not a great job though but I'll never see them anyway! :thumbleft: Next I had to give me pal a lift, Dropping of "project rotbox of at the chop shop" (his words not mine!) this is the car that has had all the brake lines replaced and even the unions have been given a coat of PTFE tape, all the calipers, master cylinder and servo... all replaced with new... and it still has spongy brakes! The MOT was today but i don't know the results just yet... i kinda hope it's failed! I wanted mine working before his! If it does fail he said the garage doing the testing will be fixing the brakes themselves... see what they come up with!
