The weather up in Dundee hasn't been all that good so no carpet cleaning just now... will have a go at the weekend. Soooo, I got bored and took my dremel to my windscreen wiper arms and Alternator cover... as you do :) Pics attached... I also took a walk around my car with a torch and hitting stick and I have come to the conclusion that It's in quite good nick! I always bang on (especially on here) that my C was never worth the money I paid for her. having a dodgy sub frame, rusty slam panel ect... but looking at her yesterday, I saw miles less rust than what ive been seeing on a friends car of similar age. It's cheered me up no end :) I was so happy in fact that I topped her up with oil and coolant, slapped her in gear and push started her to give her a breath of fresh air! However, When i tried to stop the car the brake line popped! Ohh well, I still love her, depending on how the next few months go I may well either have her going again or she'll be sat for another year. Eitherway, I've come to the conclusion that I'm never flogging the poor girl unless I need a new kidney or something. And even then I'd consider fitting a dialysis machine into the dash

2K to spend on my car, what to do first?
Alex_G60_Fanatic replied to stingman123's topic in General Car Chat
If i had 2k I'd be spending it on a re-spray and good clean up. Maybe get the engine out and treat the whole engine bay and under-seal the entire car, make her last another 15yrs :) It may come to slightly more than 2 though... -
Garage/workshop Co-Operative. Is it Possible?

My sister who is a Solicitor just sent me this.... Well... never mind then hey! I thought it sounded good myself! -
Garage/workshop Co-Operative. Is it Possible?
Alex_G60_Fanatic replied to Alex_G60_Fanatic's topic in General Car Chat
Liability insurance would be under the co-operative... We would all have to pay towards it monthly... Comes in at about £1000 per 10 people for £500'000 cover over one year (i have a broker being slef employed) tools would have to be kept locked by those who owned them... And the garage key would be for everyone within the Co-Op. This enterprise would though... as you have pointed out Kev require a great amount of trust on everyone's part. We'd have to run it like a non-profit ltd company as far as i can tell, with yearly statements, accounts, tax forms etc... That keeps the liability down. But all this would have to be done as a charity almost... you couldn't make money doing it. I'm not sure its worth the time tbh... The thing that got me thinking is that if we had the space and the capital of say 15 to 20 guys we could buy big equipment! Obviously owned by the Co-Op but hey... A car ramp that you can get a shot of when ever you like would be super! -

Annoying anti Corrado ppl i work with
Alex_G60_Fanatic replied to yacobwood's topic in General Car Chat
I agree with that, If you talk to davidwort i think there has been a discussion in the past of the difference between what what VW made and what the designers at Karmen wanted... and I think the styling at the front was one of many sacrifices... Symmetry does not equal good styling. The front of the car looks pointy and un-natural -

The wheels are particularly awful... I agree mate, the C is very pretty in comparison to that alpha -
Little place near Dundee, a steading with enough room for 15-20 cars, workshop and benches. Would it be reasonable to try and form a co-op to rent this space for all in the group to use? I obviously can't afford the rent for the whole place, but wit 15 ppl we could afford maybe the whole place! So question is (pay attention butterfly... I know your good at these sort of things! ) What would be involved in setting up this co-op? Would it be a good idea, how much work is involved and who/what would I need to run it? (secretary, treasurer etc.)

Just been for a drive in this bad boy... jims car.jpg[/attachment:drm03j40]Very fun, although the gear change was very slow! I was just wondering, do you know a car that some one owns that you've been gagging to get in and have a go? :norty:

I've decided to take the carpet out in order to clean it... mostly because I can lay it out flat. Will be doing that in the next few days. A side note: I'm looking at renting a steading in Angus. It may be big enough for multiple occupants too! Got a pal with that Oak Green Mk2 coming to share the building with me, If I get in there then we can really start cracking on with actually fixing the car!!!

Whats with the price of Corrados nowaday?
Alex_G60_Fanatic replied to Joe M's topic in General Car Chat
Alot of price bashing here fellas... You got to remember that a car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it, if that's 3k for a rusty banger... then it's worth 3k. I got my G60 for £1800 2 years ago and because it was cheep i paid the price with a dodgy subframe... I still wouldn't swap her for the world though. Worth is something that someone imparts... it's no good trying to tell people otherwise  -
