  1. Not much point in using old parts for this repair - it will only break again - you can still get everything from VAG, and they do a reasonably prices repair kit that comes with both cables and guides. Once this is fitted, make sure you keep it well lubed with the proper stuff! The hardest part is getting the sunroof cassette out and back in.
  2. I have thread with all the part numbers - Mk4 callipers aren't that expensive new from VAG for peace of mind - otherwise get a rebuild kit to refresh secondhand ones - the weak point will be the slider pins and boots. You use banjo cables (available from loads of places), standard carriers, standard handbrake cables and standard rear pads. Make sure the brake bias valbe is open when you bleed, and don't connect the handbrake cables until you are finished. Also invest in a calliper rewind tool - otherwise you'll feck up the piston.
  3. I purchased a new one from VW Classic Parts in Germany about 2 months ago - I don't see them online any more, but it would be worth checking with them anyway, they speak good English. The details were 021 906 461 Luftmassenmesser 1 €227,73
  4. A Becker, or Nak CD300, 500 or 35/45/Z - really suit the car.
  5. I'd spend the money on a VSR first if I could find one! I just checked the price of the VR exhaust in Germany - €960 euros! My Milltek was about €500.
  6. I'd believe that - a custom exhaust will get you very little apart from more noise without serious changes to the engine and the intake - it all needs to be built as a system.
  7. The Corrado one isn't cheap! About £600 cat back. They were long life and it's not unusual to see them lasting 10 years or more. My 93 was on it's original exhaust until 2 years ago, and when I replaced it there was very little wrong with it.
  8. What's the best way of removing this section ?
  9. The positive feed from the glovebox light is a good one to use.
  10. Will order a set of these - I had Bosch +90 bulbs before and they were great. Does any one know if the sidelight and brake bulbs they sell are brighter as well ?
  11. Where did you manage to get coated discs for the Corrado ?
  12. Now have lots of switches taken apart -but I finally have the chinese switch working to my liking. I was never happy with the way it lit up and the brightness - so I did the following: - I removed the red LED completely - moved the green one to sit where the red one was to light up the bulb symbol in green - used bulb covers and switch front from an older switch to dim it make it match the existing lights Now the switch is unlit when not on, and the bulb lights up when in position 2 or 3. Perfect for what I wanr.
  13. Dash screw covers Interior trim strip for top of doorcard various screw covers handbrake trim
  14. Well - I had the Star Destroyer model a while back - over 2 feet in lenght, there's also a Super Star Destroyer and a Death Star, with interiors. Some really cool stuff for adults who haven't quite grown up yet, even the smaller sets are really cool.
  15. Hmmm - mine is 60K - hat to think what it's worth now compared to 3 years ago when I bought it - ah well, won't be selling in any case.
  16. I modified one of the smaller Lego Falcons by building a full interior and detailing all the body - took me about four weeks and €150 in single parts ordered from the Lego custom shop - I'll have to dig out a few pics.
  17. Maybe not near to most on here - Dublin 15, Ireland.
  18. No problems with German ebay - as above, bank transfer is the preferred method, but works well. Shipping is never an issue, no tax, and they are very hones and items are very well described. I'm fluent as well, having been born there, so can help out if anyone has some questions. BTW, most of the them have good spoken and written english too, just send them a mail.
  19. Just had a look at some of the parts on ETKA - I'm hoping that the whole bumper won't have to come off - I should be able to work through it with the indicators and fogs removed. Looking at pictures of cars with these fitted, I definitely think that they look fine on darker coloured cars like mine, but not so sure about others. I also hope that there will be enough tubing as the routing will hae to be different to stock.
  20. Yep - it's also a different loom unfortunately, but you can splice it in. there's a small loom that connects from the switch, this needs earth, and illumination and a positive feed, then each motor takes a +/- andf a control signal from the switch rheostat.
  21. Yep - that's the one, still available from ARZ, classic parts and even the dealer's
  22. Thanks Pat - will call you after pay day this month to arrange order. What wiring changes are we going to need - is there a different relay ?
  23. Between airsoft guns and knives we are truninginto a survivalist nutjob site...
  24. http://wuesthof.de/desktopdefault.aspx/tabid-75/317_view-121/categories-121 I sharpen them with a stone, and then keep them hones with a diamond steel - a few strokes before using them each time will keep them in good shape - also never pu them in the dishwasher! The Nakiri (japanese rectangular knife) is a great all-rounder, and if you get either this or the cook's knife and and the serrated slicer, you'll never need much else in your kitchen - maybe a paring knife. Bear in mind that these are professional knives, and correspondingly expensive - but they'll easily outlast you if well looked after.
  25. Well, as an ex-chef, you can't beat a Wusthof Classic 8" cook's knife - pull that out of you bag on a dark night and you won;t have much of an argument with anyone!
