  1. Where can I get a syncro setup. I've looked for rallye golfs for ages. I need a syncro kit with the independent suspension!!! AHHHHH!!!
  2. yah I think it was one tooth on the timing belt, I talked to a guy that does VW's more than I do and he said that it was probably my belt being off one tooth, he said its like 30 degrees advance. I dunno. but the thing is off by at least one tooth
  3. you know the thing is that I followed the bentley's instructions on all of this, You could be right about 1 tooth, but the thing is that the car was running ok for about 1 second during this process then it went back to running like junk.all of the lines line up and the dots on the cam are where ther are supposed to be
  4. So I fixed the headgasket with a copper one and so I started the car, first attempt it didnt go, second attempt it did, but it was REALLY weak. the vacuum lines are ok I think. when I step on the gas there is little/no throttle response. I used to be able to tap the gas and it would jump 1000 rpms. now I tap it and it slowly goes up 500 rpms. it very faulty. when I refilled the radiator water remained on the radiator, since I had the engine running badly for 5 mins the water heated up, dont know if the water on the front decided to steam up or if it was the water in the system and I have a leak, there is a LOT of water on the front of the radiator right now, being that I cant drive it do my mechanic I dont know what to do next. was gonna do timing,
  5. yes the copper is better for the headgasket because it is solid copper, it doesnt blow nearly as much as the crappy fabric stuff. its meant for high boost applications, being that I am pushing 18 lbs of boost with a 65mm pulley I kinda needed something that would last. permatex makes a copper gasket sealant with copper inside, its tacky forms a good bond.
  6. Yeah mine was blown I just fixed the thing yesterday. New COPPER headgasket from BBM gotta use lotsa sealant. the head was remilled and the cover was dipped and glass beaded, same as the intake manifold, it looks sooo cherry.
  7. The Venom ones arent out yet, they have the coming soon on their website. its been there for a while now I am waiting for them to come out but for now I can stick with my friends BMW lights that I got for free! they work but they are hard to aim correctly.
  8. gorgeous wheels, I wish that they made them for G60's 4x100 bolt pattern, oh well I can just go out and buy some MINI wheels =-)P

    nice lights

um yeah I already did this a long time ago I purchased the correct ones from Procarparts.com/alfaotto.com. they offer black ones with blinkers that have angel eyes, the hella ones are HELLA expensive. I did the same thing that this guy did but without instructions, PS he gave some good directions that I should have followed.
  10. HAHAHA on a honda, Great plan though, I do that for a living. THe bending of plastic in order to create lighting effects, what he did was he chopped it up with a dremmel, I would take the bent plastic and either SAND BLAST it in stripes or completely sand blast the whole thing, this way you have full color and it looks much nicer, plus get some LED's from LEDtronics.com, they have more colors that radio shack. you cant even use the angel eyes on the corrado anyway, or not that I have seen, I took REAL BMW E36 headlights and fit them to my corrado, they work and all I had to do was resin some foam to the bumper, rediator suport and fender. looks decent but I am replacing them with the Venom ones that are coming out. BTW they headlights that he is talking about are E46 headlights, E36 was 92-98 and M3 same years.
  11. OK so I have had my corrado a while and this has happened 2 times, I drive the car all the time and its fine, starts well, does ok. so about 6 months ago I experienced the problem where my car wouldnt start, not even turn over, like there wasnt a connection to the starter or something, all I had to do then was pull the ignition switch plug and plug it back in. well this time I tried that and it did nothing, I was stuck at a gas station for a while and then I decided o push my car and drop 2nd, this works. I get home and I turn my car off, then I turn it back on and then it works magically. I do this again and again, probably 4 times bad for engine I know and starter and all that, but I had to make sure that it worked. well now that it works, I dont want it to do it again because pushing car and then dropping 2nd takes some real effort. The battery is fine becasue my headlights turn on, my overhead light does dim however when I turn the key, not hugely but you can see it. and the car started again after I got home. anyone have this problem and can you tell me what it might be, how do I test the switch and where is my ignition circuit as VW calls it. the bentley says ignition battery, alternator, or loose wire (where?).
  12. I can understand what you are all trying to do, I used a copper base coat then used engine paint that you can buy at any local car place, keeps the heat down and looks nice too. what I really want to know is I have seen MK II Golfs from europe that have projection headlights and they look stock, are these rallye headlights? and I saw a 16V corrado from England that had the same setup but they were corrado headlights, anyone have any info on this? and if anyone has some projection corrado headlights available I live in the US and am looking to get some nice ones, I will pay the 200 dollar shipping of course.
  13. anyone got a good website or instructions for replacing the headgasket I have a bentley but I think I could use better instructions.
  14. Yeah I looked at just parts for the car, its about 400 US dollars but the includes, copper headgasket, new head bolts, new head studs by ARP, new cam lifters (mine slap), camshaft seals, intake gasket, I think that was all, but thats just parts, two evenings huh? how hard is it to get the studs and bolts out, should I leave the stock G60 studs? and I do need it to be machined, probably just to get the warp out of it. but I think I will probably port and polish the bad boy too, bigger valves are worthless probably the port and polish too, I am doing a 16V conversion on the thing soon, wish I could do it now but I cant, too much money. how and should I clean the pistons while I am in there, I dont know what to use to clean them. but I could do it over a weekend? not too bad beats 900 dollars toward the mechanic, just like my heater core.
  15. now I know where the leak is, how many hours will it take my mechanic??? or should I do it myself? well it is pretty neato, I like my blown headgasket.
  16. I have a 90 G60 and my MPG on my MFA now displays 99.9 and I cant figure out why? is it my O2 sensor? I hope so cause my engine runs like crap.
  17. Nope I removed the radiator and water flowed, my timing does sound like crap, terrible idle. and I think I will try that with the liquid that changes colors, my expansion tank has funny brown particles in it, dunno where they came from, I hope its not my headgasket, I dont want to take the head off.
  18. Ok for everyone that has kept up on the "G60 High water an Oil temps" I have a substantial problem. I have an air pocket in my coooling system that just happens to reappear. I need some help. I have a copper or metal head gasket so I know its not that and I know that it doesnt blow out white smoke. I need to find this damn leak. it only shows itself when I go up hills or I run the car really fast for a long time. so I dont know what it is. it makes the waster bubble out of the expansion tank, and it kinda pisses me off. I replaced the hose flange on the radiator and the one on the drivers side of the cylinder head. if anyone has advice I would appreciate it. thank you. :?
  19. I have a feeling that it could be the cap and the fact that it has a bad valve or a crappy seal. I am going to try this and see if it works :?:
  20. . I have the nasty brown color in my expansion tank and its leaving residue in there. some fine micro stuff nothing huge, the problems that I have been having were solved when I replaced the hose flange on the drivers side of the cylinder head. I gas the engine and I get a spot of water or two out the tail. dont know if this is condensation or if it is the headgasket? my car loses the coolant that it has creates an air pocket in the engine causing the water to boil out of the expansion tank, very hard to find mind you. it was running ok for a day, but noticed today that the WATER in the tank is this brown grit color. I am gonna get the thing pressure tested. I can drive it if I fill it up full of water, yes I know I am supposed to use coolant too but until I get this thing fixed I am not putting any G12 in the thing, that stuff costs an arm and a leg.
  21. yeah the system drains because of a leak somewhere possibly headgasket I dont know yet. that would be the reason for me getting the system pressure tested which is what I hopefully intend to do. anyone know how much a pressure test costs??? if not that ok just wondering, thanks stevemac
  22. ok I have a 1990 G60 and am from the states, I have a severe water problem and had created a post on G60's running hot with oil and water temps soaring for my car. I have the nasty brown color in my expansion tank and its leaving residue in there. some fine micro stuff nothing huge, the problems that I have been having were solved when I replaced the hose flange on the drivers side of the cylinder head. I gas the engine and I get a spot of water or two out the tail. dont know if this is condensation or if it is the headgasket? my car loses the coolant that it has creates an air pocket in the engine causing the water to boil out of the expansion tank, very hard to find mind you. it was running ok for a day, but noticed today that the WATER in the tank is this brown grit color. must love the corrado, small parts, one off peices, my kind of car.
  23. I have a 65 on mine and I think I am only pulling 13 psi right now, needs a rebuild and has lots of oil in tubes. probably could dump the intercooler, but the g60 still overheats on me, dunno what it is, lovely airpockets. maybe its my head.... oh well. the 65 is nice to have gives you the ability to have a total of 3.25 more PSI than a 68 with the necessary mods, RSR, porting, tubes,..... rebuild.
  24. oops its not over, sorry guys, I drove it fine for a day temp stayed cool all the time and now I dont know what it could be I am thinking blown headgasket but am not sure due to this cars very misterious overheating problem. I do have the air pocket though so the coolant has to be going somewhere, I think its coming out my tailpipe because I rev the engine and it spits some water back there. if its my tailpipe that is receiving the coolant then the headgasket would most likely be blown. small amounts every once in a while of white smoke, like I mean VERY small amounts like for a helf a second. I probably have a crack in something. this car might be at the end of its life with me. cant afford to not have a car. love the thing just need it to work!!! :x :x
  25. Well thank you all for all the help that you have given me. I found that I did need the fan after-run switch. then I replaced the blue temperature sensor, it sounded broken, maybe thats just me. after driving it the heat got up to 230 again  after about 5 minutes. I popped the hood and looked inside and what do I find but a hose flange that was leaking. the one that goes on the drivers side of the head, I realized that it was the stock piece and replaced it with one from the local dealer, yay for and 8 dollar piece of plastic that ruined my life for 3 weeks  !!! I also had an airlock in the system so I filled the rest of the system up with water and now the car's oil runs at 95C/204F and the water runs at 80C due to low temp thermostat and fan switches. thank you all once again, the rrado LIVES!!!!!
