  1. MOT. Passed with no advisories. Pretty chuffed. Basically been washing it and filling it with fuel this last year, plus a wheel bearing. Replaced a cracked windscreen and had the rotten steel cut out and new welded in and some painting which came to about £800 all in, but if the screen hadn't cracked wouldn't have been doing it so, £140 inc MOT and some sundries isn't bad for a year's motoring on some thing that can't depreciate. :)

    Speedo Issue

Hi I've had exactly the problem you describe back in 2011. I changed the sensor and that seemed to cure the problem but it happened again last year I think. I got the VSS from a dealer it cost £26. I think that it is a part common with other VAG. In the end I found that the problem was in the connector for the VSS. A new connector had been fitted and bullet connectors fitted to the wring loom and jammed into the connector. they were coming loose and causing the dodgy signal and speedo and spoiler activity you describe. Before parting with 26 beer tokens I'd give the connectors a check. D
  3. Spotted nice looking N** VRG at the Post Office in Acharacle (A861). Moonlight VR6. Spoke to the lady owner who said she'd bought it last year from someone in Stonehaven.
  4. I know this is a second hand spot but...the Tesco guy said he often sees a C in Fintry. I asked if it is drak blue, yes, so I guess that's Elliott's
  5. Turning heads...Tesco Guy just delivered shopping and commented (positively) about the C in the driveway. Other Tesco guys have as well. He also mentioned another C which I realised is Elliot's up in Fintry We all need our heads examining! Corrados are great fun and a bit of a niche classic but are showing their age against modern basic cars! You need to be a certain type of person to purchase a Corrado these days. We all need our heads examining! Had a mail yesterday from the previous owner saying if I ever come to sell he wanted first dibs. Reminded me that I was stopped in Tesco's car park by someone who wanted to do a straight swap with his SAAB 93 Conv (probably 05 or 07). I said no. Heart ruling head. I could have done the swap and bought 2 on the proceeds of selling the SAAB. The guy seemed serious as he had parked up beside the C and was waiting for me to return. (what is it about Tesco)
  6. I tried to get the pillars earlier this year but the dealer said they were obsolete. They said that they are a single part going from the sill up the A-pillar then back above the doors. Is that what you got? I don't need them now, but if you have the part no.s that you got handy, it may help someone. D
  7. I had to do similar recently but with Privilege. They paid £125 towards the cost of a fitter of my choice. The bill was going to be £200 for a standard screen or £235 for a 'tinted top' screen. I went tinted top, so paid £110, but if i'd gone standard, my contribution would have been the same as the excess. If they are going to pay £75, then it's like you are paying £50 more for your choice. Might make it feel less of an impact on your pocket. The other thing is to have a look at the bodywork that the screen sits inside. if it looks rusty now is the time for remedial action on that. I had mine sorted when i had the screen out. Welding in new steel in 4 places cost about £300 inc respray etc D
  8. Stick in the Wullie...you know it's the eight decision
  9. Spotted this White VR6 on the trailer for the next series of Fifth Gear...is it an old shot or will it gt a mention? Have just found that I'm a bit behind the curve on this one as it's been discussed here http://www.the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=83023
  10. Looks good. What size are the wheels and tyres? Cheers D
  11. Doh...I didn't but it come out quite easily, so may dive back in And yes Easypops a result... as we say in this house 'Gas Monkey got paid'. I know he didn't but not spending's as good as getting paid. D
  12. I took it out of the car and after much testing it was dead, however I dismantled it, took the brushes out and cleaned the commutator. Once I'd reassembled it, it worked fine. So pleased about that. The Stealers had quoted me £300... D
  13. Mine is a Valeo. I took it out of the car and after much testing it was dead, however I dismantled it, took the brushes out and cleaned the commutator. Once I'd reassembled it, it worked fine. So, sorry I won't be need you fan. Hope you get it sold elsewhere D
  14. Cheers just need to check if mine is a Valeo unit then will get back to you D
  15. does this include the heater resistor/ thermal fuse thing? Thanks D
  16. Just spotted this for sale here 2.0 16v http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201307318091316/sort/default/usedcars/model/corrado/make/volkswagen/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/page/1/postcode/g613lg/radius/1500/quicksearch/true?logcode=p Apologies if someone has already done this and I'm behind the curve...
  17. Spotted it too in Maison Blanc Camping. I think I've seen it there a couple of years now. I think it's a father and son team doing the annual pilgrimage
  18. Meant to do this weeks ago. Spotted in Musselburgh on 20th July. Nice to see
  19. Hi all First of apologies for no update...but it is now all fixed. I went to these guys M-Teq Body Repairs in Alexandria, west of Glasgow. http://www.m-teqbodyrepairs.co.uk/ They were recommended by a friend and I'm pleased with the work they did. Oliver (Ollie) Murray runs the place, has a great attitude and is into his VWs and Audis which helps a lot. They cut out the corroded metal and welded in new steel. Then painted. And I used FGA for the windscreen. They work with M-Teq and were happy to do the double trip - screen removal and then back for refit after repair. Again very helpful. So thanks for the offer of parts etc, but now sorted. Cheers D
  20. Hi...as it says the blower is not working on any speed. I think it stopped yesterday, what I mean is that I set it at 2 and leave it. But since it was particularly hot yesterday - even in Scotland - I put it up to 4, then realised a little later that it wasn't doing anything. If it was working on 4, I'd assume it was the resistor, but with nothing happening is that more likely the fan motor itself. I've checked the fuse and that is good. Thanks D
  21. Rob - I contacted the local VW dealer today and they say that the part was discontinued in 2011, so looks like you got the last of them. The guy reckoned that the part run from the sill, up past the door hinges, up the A-Pillar, then along the roof. Is this the part you used, or did you get a part panel? Anyway VW don't seem to have any unless someone has one squirreled away. A pity as they were £86 inc vat. I'll wait to see what the body shop come up with.
  22. Thanks for getting back to me. I'll let you know...when I know Cheers
  23. I'm looking for an OS A-Pillar to use to repair rust damage on the A-pillar. It will need to be rust free...obviously. I've got a bodyshop looking at it just now, so am waiting to see what they think they will need or how they might try to fix, so this is just a feeler to what might be out there. There's a thread here describing the problem. If near Glasgow I could collect otherwise would be looking for someone to post it.
  24. Here are some pics. It's quite hard to see the damage as the screen is still in place
