10. How much are they from ford nowadays?
11. I have one off a G60 box up I'm breaking up for the final drive. If you can confirm exactly what you want i'll get it off.
12. Wait wait boys.. Where have you fitted the catch tank? (dud you go the full 42 draft shabang or stealth catch tank?)
13. I've had this before. But a long long time ago. It was on my old 1994 Clio 16v. The headgasket blew and I took it to a garage my family had used for years. £700 later she was all fixed and she ran like a dream, then a few days passed and a groan appeared. Two weeks later when setting off from some lights there was a massive bang and the car wouldn't move, it'd select gear and rev but wouldn't move.. At the time I was useless with cars and I had a mate who was good with them take a look. I was already broke because of the headgasket cost and I wanted to know what was broke so I could decide on cost and course of action.. Upon further inspection none of the gearbox bolts were tight, I could undo the majority by hand, some had worked more than halfway out. To this day I believe the mechanic forgot to tighten the bolts on the gearbox, it lost fluid, ran dry and blew up. He wouldn't accept responsibility as I've had the car two weeks and anything could have happened. Oh to top it all off, we found the fuel pipe feed to the engine had been routed through the centre of the exhaust manifold too! I know the HG was an engine out job and I think he lost interest when putting it back together and did it all half arsed. Since that day 99% of work carried out on cars has been my own. If you want something done properly, do it yourself.
14. It's so when the side lights are on the dipped beam is turned on but really low.
15. Hey hey, Did you get my PM? Mwah x
16. OP, Is this girl hot? If so I'd be slamming her.
17. Hey everyone, As I'm sure some of you are aware the Corrado VR6 master cylinder is obsolete from VW and it's hard to find a replacement, also with 288mm dics/calipers initial bite and travel is poor. I'm currently breaking a late 1997 Golf VR6 and have noticed the master cylinder/servo to be of the MK4 type.. Well it appears that way being as the MC is alloy. I've also noticed that the MC mating face is flat rather than the 45degree angle of the Corrado. I think that the Corrado VR6 MC is 23.8mm where as the lateMK3/Mk4 is 24mm (from what I've read across the net - can anyone confirm this?) After a bit of looking on vagcat I've noticed that early MK3 VR's shared the same master cylinder as the Corrado VR's but a different servo (from the looks of things the Mk3 uses a ball type pedal fixing for the servo where as the Corrado uses a push pin type). Also, to top it off the ABS unit on the later Golf VR was upgraded for a different ABS unit and ABS ECU whilst the ABS travel mechinism was removed, as was the rear compensator. I'm wondering if anyone has gone down this route with their Corrado and uprated to the late MK3 Servo/MC/ABS set-up. When driving the Golf the pedal feel and brake set up felt really really good, modern and I had loads of confidence. Something I have always felt the Corrado VR6 Lacks.
18. I can't remember off hand, I'll have a gander tomorrow and let you know. Rich
19. I believe magnex are still around. I've tried a magnex, scorpion and G-Werks systems. The magnex is by far the most OE sounding, very factory sounding just deeper sounding and looks really OE+ In my opinion. The scorpion is loud and boomy, sounds cool but far too loud for me and my old age. :) The G-Werks one is the best made, very fruity and raspy sounding but not intrusive at all and the closest OE (but rolled) tailpipe.
20. You should have 4 stud buddy. PM'd either way.
21. 288's are 5 stud. 280's are 4 or 5 stud depending on the discs (G60 or VR6) I have some spare 280's and 288's up for grabs if you're interested? They'll be getting advertised on the next few days either way.
22. No worries, I'd do the same, in fact I am as my late one needs replacing :) Ok man, keep me posted.
23. Yes, Early ones don't have a middle slot for the grill and the top area is shaped different from what I can see. I think they would physically fit though from the looks of things?
