  1. I'd be very keen for a meet in the Hampshire/Dorset area. I was actually looking last week but I'm not entirely familiar with the area so wouldn't know a good place to meet up. I was considering suggesting Beaulieu but I don't know if people would want to do it?
  2. I'll be there! Car performed admirably on the way down. Unfortunately I've now got a nice stone chip in the windscreen to add to my curbed alloys! Grrrrr
  3. In that case I'll definitely get them then. Cheers buddy! :thumbleft:
  4. No not yet Sean. Just going by the posts a couple of pages back, with them being £50 odd + vat each! And that was a couple of years ago! I may well give em a call though to find out exactly.
  5. I'll check later for you mate, wife's gone to work in it now!
  6. I don't think the whole thing was set up, I just think they were a bit naive thinking it wouldn't get that nasty. The number plate was certainly no coincidence and it obvious they've just edited the show to remove "funny" comments about it. I actually enjoyed that special more than any other of them for a long time tbf.
  7. Thanks Mic. :thumbleft: I'll get them from TPS if I must, but I'll avoid being bummed if I possibly can!
  8. Ok guys, I've had a good look through this thread and others too. I've just ordered a set of Bilstein B12s, and I'll be changing the top mounts at the same time. I'd like to order them soon, but can't find a definitive answer as to which to go for. G60/Mk3/Mk4/Vr6 etc........ Where is best to source them? Reading this thread they're uber expensive from VW, so what should I get? I want compliance but not stiffness so I don't want poly rubbers. I'll get top plates too. Rear mounts I was going to get the Lemforder Kit from AVS spares unless anyone has any better suggestions? Thanks all. :thumbleft:
  9. Here you go Sean. Just been out and snapped a couple of pics for you. Interested to hear about this.
  10. Welcome back and congrats on another Blackberry!
  11. I've almost rid the rattles so its not that, but going by the MOT advisory list I need new ball joints and track rod ends. (not entirely convinced I actually do though having looked at them). - regardless, they'll all be changed next winter with the running gear refurb. I didn't know about Larkspeed, so got them from Demon Tweeks. Just looked and I paid about £12 more retail, although I paid 30% deposit and got em on a 12 month finance deal. Helps keep the spend down so no biggie and I'll be away for most of it so I won't see what's not there.............. It was a toss up between these and the KW V1s. I'm a little worried about them obviously being set height, but the pics I've seen of them fitted with standard 15" and 17" wheels also look respectable. I'm not a floor whore in the slightest, but I don't want huge arch gaps either so 25/30mm seems good to me. Not sure if I'll wait til I do the rest of the underside before fitting them either, although I probably won't be able to wait that long even if I'm away for most of it!
  12. Mine has started doing this the last couple of days. Its the first time its been used since I replaced the mech and motor, although all three motors I've tried still only tilt and don't slide. Opens perfectly and smooth when operated manually. I was going to try Kevs method tomorrow actually. I make a habit of lifting it slightly on the switch before locking the car now.
  13. My order from Heritage arrived today which included the scuttle clips and grommets. I'll get them on shortly. After another drive this morning I've realised just how poor the suspension is. I know it'll never be as good as a modern car, but the M sport Bimmers sport suspension which is know as being a little harsh, seems like its riding on feathers in comparison. To that end, I may or may not just have ordered the Bilstein B12 pro kit...........
  14. I got this type after the recommendation from Kev Bacon on the last thread, although I paid a bit more. Good tool and makes life so much easier, although still sometimes a pain for the awkward to reach ones. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B006B3PGR2/ref=mp_s_a_1_30?qid=1419924639&sr=8-30&pi=AC_SX200_QL40&dpPl=1&dpID=41uWZQ-2muL&ref=plSrch
  15. Yeah, cost me a bloody fortune too. They should repair ok thankfully. They're not deeply gouged luckily, just scraped the powder off.
  16. Chuggs, The only tools I needed were 10mm socket to undo battery clamps and attached spades, a 13mm socket with a long extension to undo battery clamp. (You'll need to remove the battery to gain access to the N/S headlight and to disconnect the dim/dip resistor). A Phillips screwdriver to remove the O/S headlight rear cover/air duct, and an M5 allen key to remove the N/S top rad support bracket as I fed the cable behind it. Not strictly needed, but keeps the loom hidden and looking standard by doing this imo. I've velcro'd the relays to my battery, and its covered by the battery bag so should stay warm and dry. Not a thing needs to be cut, its really easy to just connect it in and go.
  17. Its both front and back Chris. But yeah, would have been worse if it was paintwork I guess.
  18. Delivered and fitted just now. Loom is excellently made I must say. I would have made one myself, but at this price I couldn't have done it much cheaper with the OE connectors. My only gripe is that I could have done with maybe an inch extra on the negative cables to the battery spade. Would have helped neaten up the routing of the cable is all. I also wrapped the whole thing in loom tape rather than having the gaps, but that's just my preference and not a gripe at the workmanship - which is top class. Overall I'm extremely pleased with it, and would certainly recommend to anyone thinking of buying one. :thumbleft:
  19. Thanks all, not such a great first drive out though! Some friggin woman decided she could also fit her A4 down the car lined road, which was only really wide enough for one car and it was my right of way! As such............. It was either that or the wing. She nonchalantly just drove on without realising what she'd done. I seriously felt like crying. It was just a kiss so not all the way round and I had to brake pretty hard to avoid her front bumper too, so luckily wasn't going too fast. I've calmed down a bit now, but felt like spinning round and going after her. Luckily my daughter was in the car so thought better of it, but I'm still pretty angry tbh.
  20. Woop Woop! She passed! A couple of advisories I wasn't expecting, and a couple of advisories I was, but nothing major. The MOT tester I take it to is a proper anal retentive. Its only £25 for the MOT, so I think he tries everything to make a bit more by getting work done that doesn't necessarily need it. :hitler: He is very thorough though so not a bad thing in some respects. Ones I was expectiong: * O/S front tire worn on inner edge. - Seriously needs geometry sorting tbh, I'll get both fronts changed at the same time even though there's about 5mm tread across the rest of both tyres. * Slight play in O/S and N/S rear wheel bearings. - I had to take the disks off to replace the ABS sensors, and I'm always over cautious when putting them back on as I tightened one too much once and destroyed the bearing and stub axle as it expanded when hot! I'll nip em both up a bit more. Ones I wasn't expecting: * Two brake pipes rusty at the compensator. - They're not at all bad tbh. A quick wire brush and they'd be good. - Note about tester above. * One engine mount bolt slightly loose. - * N/S and O/S track rod end covers are perished and cracked but still serviceable. - Didn't notice that, so I'll investigate a bit further I think. * Slight play in the O/S front lower swivel - Ball joint? I'll check those out too, but the front axle will be refurbished next winter so they'll be replaced anyway, including track rods and ends etc...... Anyway, taxed now so I'm off for a drive!
  21. Well she's in. Out of my hands now.
  22. Cant believe they just abandoned them. Such a shame and the Esprit was the only one that had absolutely no issues at all!
  23. Cheers Rob, fingers crossed! I'm always nervous about it though, theres just too many things that I can't test and are out of my control.
  24. Pedal position sensor changed, and I now have working ABS for the first time in my ownership! Turns out that someone in the past had chopped off the connector for it, and just soldered the bare wires to the pins and stuck a load of silicon sealant in the hole! The sensor is actually good having removed and tested it, one of the soldered wires had just come away. Serves me right for taking a short cut when replacing the whole loom. I cut the cables on the N/S above the pump, and soldered the new one on from there. If I'd have tried separating it all going across the bulkhead, I would have seen. All pre-MOT checks done and all seems well, we'll find out at 10 am tomorrow.....................:help: I did notice one anomaly today though, my MFA stalk is playing silly buggers. Its stuck on MFA 2, and the button isn't working. It is however changing function by using the slide switch and pushing to the MFA 1 reset position..........
  25. Jamie, agreed. Mic, except for a Mach 1
