  1. They are £67 each. Apparently there are plenty in circulation and can be ordered from a dealer.
  2. axcel01uk, thanks for your nice comments.
  3. "Had to run an errand on Friday about 6am and it was foggy as funk and freezing. I must say the car loved it, it was noticeably quicker then usual..." The freezing foggy morning air is much denser, so the engine gets more air (and petrol) per inlet stroke, so you get more power! I think the VR6 engine in particular responds very well to cool intake air. That's why I would never use an open cone filter on mine as it just sucks in the hot air from the engine bay.
  4. It's a 93 plate VR6 in flash red. It has 78k miles on the clock, and I have owned it for 12 years. I have kept it as original as possible. It has the original factory paintwork and it has never been resprayed. There is no rust/rot anywhere, probably because it never gets used in the rain! I'll put more pictures up when I get the chance.
  5. Nice looking car. I've been looking for a picture of a Corrado with the early style slim bonnet to see what it looks like. I have to say that it looks good and alot sleeker than the later style bonnets/front end. Reminds me of the mk2 Scirocco... If it was me, I would leave the badges chrome, as it offsets the rest of the body colour nicely. But I agree with BristolBaron about smoking the side repeaters.
  6. lol OSV, I thought Honey Badgers were just a myth, Jeremy Clarkson mentions them alot on Top Gear lol
  7. ChrisL, outstanding and great attention to detail. The whole car, inside and out, looks classy.
  8. You'll probably find that the side you are finding harder to take off has never been taken off before, or hasn't been taken off for ages. Also, alot of the bits have locking adhesive applied at the factory, so that could be another reason it can be harder to get things off. By the way, I hope you are using a leather/copper/rubber mallet to bang stuff off and not a conventional hammer??
  9. lol, at least you finally managed to get it off.
  10. Yeah, guess you are right. And probably not fair to compare a nearly two decade old Corrado's to much fresher A3's. I would say that most of the reliability issues with Corrados are simply due to the ageing and brittleness of the plastic components.
  11. A3 for reliability, 4 wheel drive, parts availability. Against, boring to look at and you don't really notice them, and they don't have the VR6 engine note.
  12. Hi 3corsameal (& GlosterOx), apologies for interrupting, but where did you get the Gruvenparts pipe from as I fancy getting one for mine as a spare in the future?
  13. Redfox, the seats look great. How hardwearing is the black finish on the seats?
  14. Jim, totally understand how you feel, however, DON'T SELL THE C!! I've had mine for 12years, and in that time I've only done 30k ish in it. When I do drive it in the summer it's great and I enjoy every minute in the car. I remember I got rid of my mk 1 Escort RS2000 a few years ago, and I have deeply regretted doing so, so I won't be making the same mistake again. As you know, I'm buying one of your old C's in a few days time. Unfortunately, we live in a country which has successive car unfriendly governments, so we pay high fuel, insurance, road tax etc, so that the scumbag politicians can claim their fiddled expenses.....DON'T LET THE SCUMBAGS WIN, and keep motoring in the C!! We should all drive down to London in our C's convoy style and protest outside Parliament about the cost of motoring!
  15. Dirty?? Looks great to me. I agree black grills look best. BTW, I was looking at the wrong Supersprint exhaust tail pipes, and I now understand what you mean about the Supersprint being as close to OEM.
  16. If it's like my Scorpion (branded as a Quantum) then yes it is. There is a keylock on the unit itself so you can just switch the alarm off, as long as you have the key, which is a small one like the sort they use on steering wheel locks, if that makes any sense.
  17. Stonejag, yes that's what I thought as I read that somewhere...but mine is also kept in the jack tool case, it fits perfectly on the jack spanner and into the carry case. Guess it doesn't matter as long as you have it.

Benjevw, you're making nice progress. I see from an earlier photo that one of your HT leads broke, so you may find the following useful.... VR6 Tool to remove spark plug leads from spark plugs (VAG Part 021 012 213) This may help owners of VR6's. A friend of mine just broke his HT lead as he was trying to pull it off the spark plug. What he didn't realise is that the tool to remove the leads from the spark plugs is in the "tool box" provided by VW. If you still have the original wheel changing jack then you will find the tool on the jack raising wrench. It looks like a black plastic pipe/sleeve. Sorry, can't put a picture up until I get a new camera. Hope this is of help, and avoids broken HT leads.

  20. Jim, as Album56 says, there is a code number inside the fob. This is unfortunately on a small sticky label so it may be lost/missing. It starts with a letter, and then five numbers (for example, K58389....and no, that's not my actual code lol). The usermanual/literature I have with my alarm states the following; "Each remote control unit is identified by a number. Please record the number for future reference. In the event of a replacement being required contact your Volkswagen Audi dealer (Scorpion)." Hope this helps people, as the VW dealer fitted alarm is very good (Ultrasonic, Motion & Current sensing, Immobilising, etc), I've never had a single issue with mine and it's now 19years old!! Most importantly, it's insurance approved.
  21. Thought this may help those of you that have an original VW dealer fitted Quantum alarm. It is actually a Scorpion alarm, but was branded as a Quatum for VW. When I brought my Corrado I only had the one fob and wanted a spare. I ordered a new fob from Scorpion (in 2002 it cost me £41.95). I spoke to Scorpion customer services this morning and it is still possible to obtain new alarm fobs for certain alarm systems. May be a good idea if you contact them to check if you can get a spare fob if you don't already have one. Contact details: SCORPION AUTOMOTIVE, Drumhead Road, Chorley North Business Park, Chorley, England, PR6 7DE, PHONE: 44 (0)1257 249928
  22. Sorry, just checked the above number and it is no longer valid. The new contact details are as follows; SCORPION AUTOMOTIVE, Drumhead Road, Chorley North Business Park, Chorley, England, PR6 7DE, PHONE: 44 (0)1257 249928
  23. VR64sale, try giving Scorpion a ring on 0161 7779666 for advice. I brought a new spare fob from them in 2002 (cost £42) so hopefully the telephone number I have quoted is still the same. Hope this helps.
  24. Abdul, I have a Jetex full stainless steel exhaust on mine. It sounds great, not raspy, just a deep bass like rumble, with a nice "popping" on the over run. I took a look at the Supersprint, but I'm not really a big fan of the tail pipe design, prefer the oval tail pipe to keep the original look.
