  1. last winter i was running speedies this year i decided on bbs rc's had them on for some time, just managed to get some pics today....
  2. I can't remeber the last time i used a garage  my biggest bills usually come from vw parts, as i do my own work to the car I recently bought rear axle bushes Front control arm bushes Top mounts Sump Gasket Rocker cover gasket New fixings and that didnt total more than £150 I usually have lots of smaller invoices from vw for bits of trim, seals and fixings. i might do my chains in a few weeks and i can imagine all the parts costing more than a few hundred quid from vw. The most expensive purchase for the car would be the KW's
  3. is it not possible to turn the engine over by hand using a spanner? then that would eliminate the starter motor not meshing with the flywheel. I don't think ive ever heard of anyones chains snapping so wouldnt fear the worst just yet. Let me know if you need a hand.
  4. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3242686 Excellent link for those planning on diying their rear beam bushes, link shows a mk3 golf but its the same principal for the corrado.
  5. take a pic of the component in question
  6. sounds like the spring on the load biasing valve, shouldnt be loose
  7. the corrado was lucky enough to come with a wide range of nice colours personal favourites include LO41 Non mettalic Black LC3U Dark Burgandy Pearl LK4Z Bramble (blackberry) LC6P Dragon Green LC6U Classic Green LB7Z Satin Silver LP7Z Light Grey LA7U Pearl Grey LK7Y Storm Grey I would happily own a c in any one ofthe above colours 8)
  8. i sorted my issue with the captive nut, but the cars still off the road for another few days. Thought id fix the minor oil leaks ive had so changed the oil cooler seals when i went to change the rocker cover gasket i realised vw supplied me the wrong gasket. Cant wait to get it back on the orad, its been off the road for nearly 2 weeks now.
  9. looks good... rc's are a classic choice
  10. I buy most things from vw like, seals, gaskets, bearings, bushes etc. But for brakes gsf should be ok. I fitted 288's a few weeks back and bought brembo disks and pagid pads from gsf and they have been fine.
  11. ok thanks for the info guys i was curious
  12. whoops, edited the post to make sense
  13. ive heard rs's are forged and are quite light, how does the weight of 17" RS301 compare to 17" rc's?
  14. prices of corrados have dropped... the prices of the parts have not!
  15. if you have adjustable platforms its quite clear to see. As well as the cirlip and the platform you should see grooves cut in to the strut for the different height levels. if you need any clarification just put up a picture of your setup and im sure someone will be able to confirm.
  16. from searching this forum people have mentioned there is an inspection hole for the captive nut which is acessed by removing a large grommet in the floorpan. This sounds the same as the mk2 but i'll find out for sure when i lift my carpet up at the weekend.
  17. James, thanks for the advice, tbh i was just going to replace the captive nut have a look at this thread for a repair on a mk2 golf. http://www.clubgti.com/forum/showthread.php?t=73404 Atleast the nut will be new and i'll be confident with the repair. I'm going to be attempting it on Saturday so let you know how i get it on. Im looking forward to the drive as the rear mount on the drivers side wishbone was deteriorated quite badly.
  18. Tackled the drivers side today and made a school boy error.... i managed to cross thread the rear bolt that holds the rear of the wishbone though the subframe to the captive nut in the chassis. I'll fix it next week but anyone know where i can order a new captive nut? don't think you can get them from vw?
  19. I had a bit of spare time today so managed to complete the passenger side today, Removing the wishbones was no issue, securing bolts came undone with a breaker bar., Lower ball joint bolts were easy to undo as i replcaed the fixings wheni changed them earlier in the year. Removing the old bushes from the wishbones was simple with the use of a drill, hammer and chissel. Installing the new bushes was straight forward using the M12 threaded rod that i used a few weeks ago to do my rear beam bushes along with varios washers. Only thing i have just realised is that the rear bushes i've installed are not R32 bushes even though thats what i ordered when i was at vw. I didnt know better as i didnt know what i was supposed to be looking at, but looking at the vortex link vw have supplied me with standard bushes. The only difference i noticed between the ones that came off and the ones i replaced is that the M12 bolt was able to move about in the old bushes so they must have been missing the sleeve that was mentioned earlier in this thread. With the new rear bush the M12 bolt fits correctly without the need for a sleeve. Oh well if the new bushes dont last long i'll change them for the correct R32 when the time comes its easy enough to do. I also changed the top mounts for new vag items, tommorow i'll finish off the drivers side and then i can take it for a drive to see what difference it has all made
  20. hmm colour/styling combo looks familiar  Ive not had experiance with spring & shock combos on the corrado but on my mk1 tried a few and i could never get the ride height exactly as i wanted it untill i went for coilovers. So i would recomend coils even if its for a modest drop, since selling my zw1's ive got a modest drop riding on my kw v2's and the ride is excellent.
  21. yes i would say ignition related, my mk1 makes a similar noise if its misfiring edit: also earlier in the year when my coilpack gave up and the vr was only firing on 4 cyclindars it showed similar symtoms and sounded the same
  22. TPS = trade parts specialist, vw have recently outsourced their parts resale http://www.thetradepartsspecialists.co.uk/whatIsTPS.php
  23. ginger69: the lwere ball joint won't be an issue as i replaced them on both sides quite recently. My R32 bushes are here so if i get a chance i'll get them fitted over the weekend and let everyone know how i get on.
