  1. ok i thought i could put it down to the alignment but needed some re assurance, i will put it in on saturday and see how it goes.
  2. Following the renewal of my steering components I have my car back on the road. As I changed the steering rack, rods and ends and had my hubs off to change the bearings my alignment was completely out. I have the car booked in for its alignment on Saturday morning but I have already aligned the wheels by eye best I could so I could take the car for a drive to check everything should be as it should. This is not as bad as it sounds on my car as I run it quite low and due to the width of the wheels and offset the face of the wheel is close to the lip of the arch so it
  3. thanks for the tip, now my cars back on the road, the chains and guides are on the next to do list

    HID troubles

this is normal, when you switch the main beam on the dipped beam switches off. you could modify the wiring to the relays for your uprated loom and use a diode to overcome the issue.
  5. with reference to the daytime running lights they come on by default during the day from factory. you have to change the default setting for the daytime running lights not to come on during the day. This is the reason every A5 new A4 etc have their day time running lights on all the time. The same applies to the E9X bmw's
  6. The noise has gone, didnt get a chance to drive the car but it had been parked up for a few days and when i starte it yesterday there was no noise. I guess the air must have worked itself out. Thanks for the help
  7. cheers david i'll give that a go, even though my tyres are worn on speedies i was still cringing. Ideally i want to sort out the noise so i know the pump is ok before i put it back on the road and get it tracked up
  8. i ran the car for another 10 minutes or so and the noise didnt go away. I havent driven it yet could this be why?
  9. This is the noise that its making, it gets louder as i turn the wheels
  10. yours looks like sherry pearl effect which has the paint code LC2U
  11. i'll run it for a bit longer and see how it goes.
  12. I changed the steering rack on my vr6 and now the previously silent pas pump is now noisy. After the rack swap i topped the fluid up and turned the rack from lock to lock a few times to circulate the fluid and topped up once again . Ive let the car run but the noise does not go away. Its not so much a high pitched squeeling that you get with a belt slip its slightly different. I'll post a clip later. Any advise on why its noisy all of a sudden?

    VR6 Steering UJ

i'll try to source a lower mileage second hand UJ, is the golf vr6 UJ the same as the corrado vr6? My rack was from a abf engined cordoba 16v, its exactly the same as the rack that came of my car. The lock to lock matched therack tat came off my car. I just used vr6 track rods and ends when refitting it and it fits fine,

    VR6 Steering UJ

Recently i sourced a low mileage rack from a 70K Seat Cordoba of a guy from another forums claddifieds, the guy was supposed to send me the UJ with it but didnt. My car has done 180K and ive replaced all the suspension and steering components and its all back together now. But i really do not want to use my current UJ bearing in mind the mileage that my cars done. Im thinking i should source a UJ from a low mileage car or buy a new one before i put the car back on the road and get the suspension alligned as its one thing that will niggle me afterwards. The guy i got my rack is trying to sell me the one he has but i wont be buying it out of principle. My current UJ does not seem to have any play on it but i was thinking along the same lines as Kev that you would only need slight wear for play to become apparant under load.

Anyone know how much these are from the dealers?
  18. getting in to the car with corrado recaros is hard enough, it would be even harder with the larger bolsters of the golf recaros. Although from an aesthetic point of view i prefer the aggressiveness or the larger golf bolsters
  19. standard 5 stud bolts are m14 x 28mm with a radius seat

  23. your right theres not much choice in that size. Anyway your c is a lovely base to work from and zw1's are a classic shoice for it 8)
  24. looking good, which tyres did you go for? i was looking at 215/35/17's too
  25. helper spring is meant to fully compress, its only purpose is to make sure the main spring does not come loose when you jack the car up and the strut is fully extended.
