pedrotunes 11 Posted September 1, 2021 Hi All I am missing what I presume is the clip that attaches the airbox to the engine bay to stop it moving around (area circled on the picture), any ideas where I can get one? or can I just use a cable tie? This is not the clip that holds the airbox together (to the left of the circle), I think this is this part for that but not the one I need. https://www.heritagepartscentre.com/uk/191129797b-clip-for-the-air-filter-box.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2unkh7_e8gIVWud3Ch0mTAMWEAQYASABEgJubPD_BwE Thanks
Cressa 44 Posted September 1, 2021 Correct, the clip in your link is for holding the top to the bottom unit. You need the big rubber stretchy ring. Used on other VW's ,so hopefully available somewhere
Philly-R6 0 Posted September 2, 2021 Further to Cressa's post, you can see the part on oemepc (item #9 - 1H0129833): 1991 Volkswagen Corrado Europe market: Engine Air filter 1.8ltr. 4-cylinder: PG (oemepc.com)
1xshaunx1 27 Posted September 2, 2021 As cressa says it’s just a fat o-ring. Any brand will do doesn’t have to be a vw item that cost a fortune.
Dox 23 Posted September 2, 2021 Or a cable tie

Kempy 0 Posted September 2, 2021 (edited) I've seen these for sale somewhere. Probably heritage vw https://www.heritagepartscentre.com/uk/191129797a-air-filter-box-clip.html Edited September 2, 2021 by Kempy Found link
fendervg 32 Posted September 2, 2021 You can buy things called tent stake rubber bungees - essentially a very large hair band - from camping suppliers, should do the job https://www.millets.co.uk/15893172/vango-tent-peg-elastic-15cm-x-5mm-15893172 Having said that, the OEM ones are just large rubber rings - and they were used on lots of different cars so should still be available. The reason they are used is to allow for engine movement when running so as not to stress the solid plastic parts.
fla 9 Posted September 3, 2021 i usually keep a few old oil filter orings and other seals for this kind of purpose - stig of the dump! Hasan
