young lad 0 Posted April 18, 2006 Ok this thread is really interesting. So basically the Mrk lll 2.0 GTI 16v Gearbox is better to use then the Corrado G60 gearbox. So i pressume the mrk lll 2.0 16v Gearbox would improve 0-60's and basically make the car much quicker ?

Dub Style 0 Posted August 18, 2006 Does anyone know if the Corrado 2.0 16v gearbox is the same as golf mk3 and what is the code for this gearbox
atif 0 Posted August 18, 2006 I once owned the corrado which had the MK3 16V gearbox!! its a straight swap and means u get longer ratios when you get higher up the revs therefore not having to change up so quick!! It will do 60+ in 2nd gear!
Rob_B 0 Posted September 11, 2006 will the G60 driveshafts fit the MK3 16V gearbox? will the G60 starter motor fit the 16V box? what about the G60 selector? help much appreciated party people
corraptor_evo 0 Posted October 16, 2006 Hello, boys! I watch this subject becouse i'm extremely interested. I have a Corrado G60 (of course :D !). It had a stock ATA gear box (ratios: 3.778; 2.105; 1.345; 0.971; 0.795; FR 3.684). I fitted a Syncro system with CBC:(3.778; 2.117; 1.360; 0.966; 0.795; FR 3.938). I lost over one second to 100 Km/h (60 mph) and gain 3/4 of a gallon in consumption     . Now, I want to keep the case, swap the CBC internals with a CCM: (3.300; 1.944; 1,308; 1.034; FR 3.348) or a ASD (3,300; 1.944; 1.308; 0.917; 0.717; FR 3.158). Can anyone tell me SURE what will happen? What I'll gain and what I'll loose? Thank you all!
flusted 0 Posted October 16, 2006 took my g60 on mainland the other day and with a 1.8 16v box, i was topping out at 100mph in 4th at redline which is bad so avoid the 1.8 16v box on the g60
Andy665 0 Posted October 20, 2006 Just won a G60 box on E-Bay for £60, decided to go down the route of VR 1st and 2nd ratios with a Peloquin diff - nice little winter project

The valvers hit 80 in third without redlining it. I guess you were a fair way off 60 in second?

Anyone ?[/quote:1f109] If it was lower geared, which I doubt, It wouldn't make the car quicker. The G60 is pretty low geared so going any lower will make first gear useless and the other gears wont be matched to the torque curve. There's no point changing ratio's unless its a proven mod like Andy665 mentions about VR higher ratio 1st & 2nd gears - usually done to complement an upgrade in power.
