  1. Nothing like a bit of graft eh? I was toying with sending mine to a machine shop to get all this done, but they decided for reasons of cost and plain old "i want a go" I was going to do it meself. Obviously will get it checked over before it goes into the car, the last thing I want to do is scupper everything - especially as I plan to replace a fair ol' bit of the gubbins inside. Oil seals, valve guides etc..? Have you done this too? Bring on the pics on Friday...!
  2. Nope, just wasn't plugged in at all. I guess I didn't push it all the way in when I put the duct back into the bumper. Ah well, sorted now. Cheers
  3. Superb, doesn't sound like I'm going to have to shell out that much on lah-de-dah tools. Although, I am kinda disappointed by that as I'm getting into the habit of buying my own tools as opposed to leeching them off of friends/family - oh well, spring compressor will do nicely :D Blimey, 24-48 hours worth of grinding/polishing?! That's a spicy meat-a-ball! How much are you taking off on the porting? Looking forward to seeing more pics of everything once it's finished, like I said before it's really handy to see someone doing this before I crack on!
  4. neat, cool one less to replace. fingers crossed i can get my arm in there without having to take the bumper off again.... thanks for the response. :D
  5. I had me front bumper off at the weekend to replace the wing, and as part of the process I unplugged the temp sensor on the offside brake duct. I thought I'd plugged it back in AOK, but the MFA is reading -40 deg C so I'm guessing not. Is it possible to plug it in the wrong way round, or is it a knackered sensor? thanks in advance
  6. if i'm recalling correctly, you can just pull the bottom part of the seat out to give you better access to the panel. but, with a little jiggering you can pull the panel out with it in situ. screw at the bottom, one near the top where the seatbelt threads through and one at the back. hth randal
  7. where the hell did my post go? nadgers, oh well. Hope you get it sorted asap and there are no repeats of this, and hopefully the police will catch the w****rs.
  8. http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=17 hehehehehehe :D
  9. yes, it does look nice with those rims... ;) It's quite handy seeing these kind of pics, as I'm just about to start doing similar to the spare head I've got here. When you were stripping the head down, did you need any special tools? Also, what have you been using for the polish/flowing? Dremmel and emery paper? tia randal
  10. I've got a copy of that at home, I really must get round to reading it! Remember those well, that and potatoes were carcinogenic. I absolutely despise that paper for what it's done to further stupify the masses. Couldn't believe it when my Mother started quoting the Mail as fact. I actually shed a tear. edit - what is it with mothers reading the mail? grr.
  11. Previous owner of mine did that too, 2 nasty looking touch ups on the spoiler. Ah well, something else to add to the list
  12. neither had I until I called the stealer and asked for a set of mouldings, then the dude informed me that the early ones had been discontinued and the lates were the only ones around. As with a lot of early/late part differences, the main thing is the softness of the lines - i.e lates are more curvy. Oh, that and I've heard the early ones comprise of 3 pieces per moulding?? I'm guessing 2 end pieces and a centre section.
  13. >92 valvers, all VR6's, and late G60's have slightly more flared wings, a bonnet that does __/--\__ as opposed to --\__/--, different front bumper with fogs and indi's that sit further forward. I though the doors were different too on account of some seals, but it turns out I just had a 3rd party seal on my old driver's door. The only other striking difference on the doors is the mouldings (and door interior). HTH
  14. Fingers crossed eh? You just know they are going to ask you for every detail though, serial number, where it was purchased, rough date, inside leg, favourite colour etc... Ah just grab one of these. Much easier :D (ok, it's not as cheap as the phone call option, but i'm lazy!)
  15. Now arn't you glad I left my phone at home, and didn't get your missed call until about 2am this morning? ;) Me, I watched 6 episodes of S2 of 24 back to back. Hooked! Although, I kinda wish I'd taken my phone with me now...
  16. Well that's bloody silly. rah. What happens if you lose the keyfob?? Oh yeah :( I'm guessing this is on your new VR, and you didn't get the fob with the car? Maybe a call to Kenwood tomorrow could get you a new fob...
  17. I've had a couple of Kennys now, and have never had to mess aboot with keyfobs, hmmm freaky. Whats the model number btw?
  18. Checked the fuse in the back of the HU? If you need one it's a funny shaped one IIRC, smaller than a standard blade fuse - Halfrauds may stock them. Failing that, have you checked the fuse under dash? It's possible something blew when you reconnected the battery, it's happened to me a couple of times in the past. HTH :)

Use VR6 ones to help out with ride quality. 8-)
  20. I'm with G60Jet on this. It's too much to achieve, even in 15 years. There are so many borders to cross, the main one being privacy. GPS in the car can essentially be used to track the whereabouts of every single person with a car in this country. Also, as someone mentioned earlier - how long before the system is but up for speeding trials? I'm sure a farmer with a tractor knocking over a Gatso isn't going to cut this one. Again, as someone mentioned - the roll out of all the kit to make this possible. A GPS locator isn't overly expensive, and the installation can't be that much a drama - unless it's tied into the ignition system. Alarms/immobilisers with GPS built in for tracking and tax? *shudder* Then there's the monitoring, it's going to take a pretty hefty wadge of cash to deploy a solution that can locate any car in the country. All we have to do is cast our minds back 5 years to think of some failed computer projects. The National Rail system, the Heathrow traffic control fiasco, and the NHS computer system to name 3! 15 years wouldn't be enough for our government anyway, it's not feasible. It's taken god knows how long to change the MOT system, and that's only running parallel to the old system now. The country would be better off with less "improvement" and "streamlining", and more interest and public funds being diverted to policing and poverty. Policing doesn't mean sticking another camera in every village, it means getting out there and stopping murderers, rapists, thieves and immigrants flaunting our lax borders btw! tuppence spent :D
  21. Blimey, that is more than reasonable! Good pluck. :D
  22. Can you see anything that looks like it's hanging lower than it should be? (pardon the expression) Have you had the car dropped at all? Any work done recently?
  23. What mk is it btw? I never used to like them to be honest, but they've grown on me rapidly. The MK3's especially, there's one in the car park in nugget yellow that I might have to go and have a public display of affection with. I'm just hoping the current owner doesn't get jealous... Phew, so long as it's only superficial Jap - not the whole weird jap-kink affair!
  24. Ewww, represents what dude? That's one kinky relationship you've got on the go there, you sure that car isn't Japanese deep down?
