  1. I am sorely tempted, but my only window for work is the weekend. As it's my daily driver, I can't afford any cock ups. Bit of a bummer. The little things I don't mind, but the bigger things could end up causing me a major headache.
  2. Mmmm good point, will have to do. Cheers Jim. :D
  3. Thanks for that Alex, bit of a light at the end of the tunnel for me. Think I'm going to proceed with me plan, get the garage to do the rear axle bushes- then get stuck in meself! :D
  4. Cool cool, thought it was a bit steep. I think I'm going to have to get the work done in stages anyway, might get the rear bushes done at a garage and tackle the wishbones myself. Keeps the cost down, plus I get to get my hands dirty - which is always a good thing. Trouble I'm finding is sourcing a decent garage to get the difficult works done i.e jobs that require heavy duty machine tools etc.. I'd gladly tackle any job, provided I had the tools. Thanks again randal
  5. M plate VR6 near the Crawley turn off on the M23 this evening. I waved, you looked shocked. First Corrado I've seen on the road in time and I get goldfished. I felt pretty silly.
  6. Oh yeah, everything but the shocks/springs/top mounts/bump stops etc... to do with the susp. Duh randal. :D
  7. Hello, Just got back from the garage, whilst there asked them for a quote on some upcoming work. Personally I thought it was a bit high, mind you anything over 50 quid is too expensive at the moment... Anyways, quoted me just shy of 900 quid to: replace rear axle bushes wishbone arms wishbone bushes all round relevant ball joints replace brake compensator (if needed) fit susp kit camber/track/balance Mentioned something around 10 hours labour too @ 45 p/h if that's any help to price guide. Comments, thoughts, suggestions, donations? :D Thanks in advance randal
  8. LMAO, sod's law on that one. I may be in a different boat to you though, as I managed to carry the whine over from a previous install using the same amp. Maybe a fault actually within it....? Anyone want to donate me an amp for.. err.. "testing"?

    Pillow pods

Pardon my ignorance - wtf is a pillow pod?! :? :D
  10. Bummer me too! Although from what peeps are saying that's probably not going to help. Looks like it's a strip out, and run down the centre tunnel job for the cables. Wooop. Ta! randal
  11. Kev, how much did they set you back?
  12. Also have the same problem, the cursed accelerator whine! Will try running a wire from the amp to battery at lunch, see if that solves it. Have heard mixed reviews on the isolators, one way to find out! ta randal
  13. Couldn't agree more, they are a bloody pain in the a$$ Had much grief getting a set off when the oil warmer cooler hose went on mine. Jubliee clips are the way forward, most def.
  14. Calling Mr F Razey, previous owner to G*** GNP - you still a corrado driver? :D
  15. On the earlier interior, I have the problem where the switch keeps falling out of the door card. As daves16v said - superglue is the way on that one. :)
  16. You didn't want that front spoiler anyway :)    LOL......btw henny that pic is now my pc's wallpaper  :D Mine too, that's a quality pic! :D :D :D
  17. I'll jump on the "Yay for Redline and Slick 50" bandwagon. Had a really notchy gear change when I first bought the car, quickly resolved with a oil change. A lot smoother now. :)
  18. Is it like a droning sound from the back of the car by any chance?

    Central Locking

You have a similar problem to what I've got, except maybe a little easier to diagnose. The brain bit of the alarm breaks into the central locking circuit, sounds like this connection might be dodgy. Thats it I'm goin ta bed. HTH randal
  20. It all sounded like doom and gloom until you mentioned the VR6 transplant... If you are going to drop a VR6 in there, you'll take the loom with you too - have a feeling that might just sort you out. :) Bit miffed that the car started going haywire after the sparky touched it, do you have any comeback from him? I'd chase that to the ends of the earth! No point in spending any more on the car in the current state it's in if you plan a VR6 conversion, seems a little futile. Sorry I couldn't offer any in depth technical advice, just thought the VR6 perspective might ease the pain. I hope all pans out well for you randal
  21. I'm sure if you ask someone at work very nicely, they'll host it for ya. :D
  22. Has anyone got a guide for adjusting the cables? I've got a pain the butt problem of it not wanting to select 2nd cleanly - every other gear is OK. I've recently changed the G/B oil for the Redline stuff too, this has helped - but not that much. Want to try this before anything else it's well - free! Andy T I think I'm going to change my rear mount/gearbox mount soon as I think the engine rocking is pulling the exhaust pipes apart. If this helps the gearchange I'll let you know. At the best randal
  23. Is that yellow one Amy's 20VT? Some nice pics in there. Feel nothing but sorrow for the grey Golf GTi, rust sucks :(
  24. Nows the time (and the perfect excuse), to get all that head work done... Full rebuild Big bore valves Porting Flowing New cambelt/tensioner Inlet Manifold flowing Exhaust manifold flowing Oh, might as well replace that gasket too  Wouldn't like to say how much the work will cost you (not the above, just getting it running again) Because you don't know what damage awaits you underneath. You won't get any accurate figure until they've inspected it. HTH
  25. Best time to drive, nobody on the roads.... Thank god, I thought I was the only one. :D
