Exactly, most claims adjudicators have agreed on a system of allocating liablility based on the site of damage to the vehicle...if you had front end damage the claim would likely be settled by your insurers even if it wasn't your fault (eg if someone had reversed into you). This (crude) system prevents the insurance companies taking each other to court everytime there's a shunt which is expensive and pointless since most policies are underwritten by a select few main insurers. The point of getting the facts from the scene are to establish which driver will be penalised by way of increased premiums / loss of NCB / excess etc. In your case it looks like the other party will be liable. Good Luck anyway, and when you get too frustrated, try and remember that your kids are OK - and that is the important thing.

I don't have the details of the supplier with me at the moment but will post them up later if you like. TBH I don't think there will be an appreciable discount for two (!) but there's no harm in asking him I suppose Prices 1x RT-R4.2 @ £112.88 15 x RT-R4.2 @ £90.30 each Prices are plus VAT but include free delivery. No offence to Phat's group buy, but as you can see from the prices its a shame we can't make use of the £22 discount if we had another 13 interested.

Who's travelled the furthest for a car in one stint???
STORM 2 replied to H8RRA's topic in General Car Chat
from the South of France to the ferry at Calais in a 1992 VW Polo 1.3CL - I believe it was about 800 miles. -
I believe Lancs constabulary have a day therapy course for those particularly afflicted with this condition - it is recommended if only to avoid permanent scarring to one's driving licence

I think you need the 2x2 adaptor mate- if you have a (later OBDII) adaptor with a usb connection I can lend you my adaptor which will covert OBDII leads for use in earlier cars. It would probably be quicker to check the VAG-COM thread on this forum..several forum users in the Northwest have offered use of their equipment if you live nearby.

Well I found another supplier (Phat's supplier seems to have gone AWOL) see page 5 I'm going to have to go it alone soon anyway, but if anyone wants details of the prices shown let me know

I was going to go for the Alpine but was desperate for DAB so I went for a Blaupunkt DAB 54. I must say the sound is FANTASTIC as far as the tuner goes with the DAB aerial with crystal clear stations I can't even get with my home hifi tuner. The music quality is an improvement over the Sony headunit I had. I suppose if youre not bothered about radio -then the Alpine is the one to go for

OK Lee, now my wife and dog officially think you are mad as well.... Personally, I have nothing but respect for your dedication and attention to detail..we all know how tedious and timeconsuming some of the stuff you are doing is....well done.

Bit of a twanger, then..........reminded me of this - Rainbow, Finbar Sanders'esque!!! - one of the funniest things ever for those tha haven't seen it :) Ive just seen the clip-unbelievable - couldn't figure out if it was genuine!!

TBH, the only definate conclusion you can make from the information you have supplied is that there is an intermittent electrical problem, probaby a short. As mentioned the best thing to do is to get VAG-COM plugged in before you pay over £100 for a coilpack. There is a reason loads come up on ebay - most have been replaced only to find the coil pack wasn't the problem in the first place!

I can't get my head round the fact that there are 14 year old cars out there with only 30K miles! Thats 2K miles a year. If I was doing 2K miles a year, Id get rid of the car and walk!!

Yes those spade connectors are a bugger for coming off once the light has been pushed back in....

Continental Premium Contact tyres... are these any good?
STORM 2 replied to matth76's topic in Drivetrain
Have to disagree with this I'm afraid. Although I am running 245/40 R18 Contisports and have found them to be great all round performers (RWD).The only problem seems to be a tendency to tramline but with that profile its hardly surprising. I don't know whether FWD would alter the tyre characteristics though -
so what do you reckon, PhatVR6, ??
-
no VAG means my wallet would be a lot fatter, I would go for a TVR griffith 500 - nice and simple and pretty mechanical

There's a link to that site on page three. The prices STORM 2 was quoted are a bit lower. I'm still interested in an RT-S4.2 as part of a group buy. TBH, I think the RT-S4.2 is probably the one to go for, unless someone has a flux capacitor installed and need that 1.21 giga watts...
-
OK don't really want to start a new thread regarding this but I would have thought that this is a good buy... PhatVR6, let me know what you think.. I think cos of my desperation timescale wise, I m gonna have to go with it anyway.

Phat, which red top...is this for the OP/RT-R4.2 Optima Red Top 12v 50ah 815CCA ?? I have a price of £132.63 round my way for this particular one...maybe cheaper in bulk. UPDATE: Contacted a local(ish) dealer and he came up with this : "The Optima RT-R4.2 is not a normal stock item (we usually carry the RT-S4.2). Delivery times aren’t usually too bad at around 7-10 working days. Below are prices as follows – 1x RT-R4.2 @ £112.88 Optima 12v 50Ah 15 x RT-R4.2 @ £90.30 each Optima 12v 50Ah The prices quoted are subject to VAT at current rate and based on a one off order of the above quantities. We can also offer a free of charge delivery service, if this helps." So, without wanting to hijack anything, what do you think? If you think this s a good deal, I'll get back to him.
