  1. Yes, I find Tigra aerials look particularly fetching on a C. I have a collection of them at home if you'd like me to post you one. :) I HATE Tigras! Bloody Corsa's for Chav Hairdressers!
  2. You should post a for sale ad in the relevant section of the Forum. Summer's coming (sometime :) ) and I'm sure there's quite a few Corrado owners would like a nice Summer runaround. Get some pics up too ;)
  3. My mate is Sales Manager in a Seat dealership. He has a different model home every weekend and lets me drive them. I've also had a few Toledos as rental cars through work. On the whole I'm quite impressed by them. Definately a viable option to a VW since their prices got silly. Build quality couldn't be much worse given the amount of faults that are appearing on Mk4 Golfs these days. Having only driven new ones though I can't comment on how well they weather over time. Cruise control is a great option on a diesel when on a long motorway journey, makes a significant improvement to fuel economy. Gotta agree with those that have argued against a NEW car. Having made that mistake twice I can confirm they are a total waste of money. The new car novelty wears off after two weeks, unfortunately the finance payments go on much longer. New cars normally have teething problems too, resulting in the inconvenience of warranty claims. You basically lose 20% of the value of a new car as soon as you drive it away. If your heart's still set on a Seat, reject this one and get them to hunt through used stock at other dealers for a suitable replacement. It'll save you enough cash for a tuning box and set of nice wheels and the previous owner will have ironed out all the bugs.
  4. Storm is the man to ask about Auto's. Do a search through his previous posts and you'll see he has documented a swap from Auto to Manual transmission. I had a VR6 Auto last year for a while. Bought it with a duff box cheap and fitted a 2nd hand auto box. It was quite nice to drive, really took off on kickdown but wasn't as refined as other Autos I've driven. They seem to kick the bucket at around 100k miles. Make sure you keep the AT fluid fresh and change the filter every year. A recon box costs around £2.5k! Follow this link to see a typical Auto box problem. http://www.eclubvw.com/forums/showthrea ... ge=1&pp=15 The expert that helped me Kurt has now disappeared unfortunately.
  5. You could strike lucky in the Trader and get a nice one for £4k. Not everyone knows they're worth good money. Parkers and Glasses guides list them as being worth much less than they really go for. Even on here I've seen VR's go for around £4k or less. As long as the bodywork's not hanging off it and it drives ok don't worry too much as you'll have plenty of time to sort other bits out.
  6. Oops Sorry! Well then, you could have a Bora or Passat TDi for £4k. Easily tuned too. ;) There's a 5 door VR6 Highline on here for less than £4k too.
  7. Personally, I'd look for a mega clean Mk2 16v with all the extras. A G60 Golf would be ideal, but they're all LHD. :( Mk3's are a bit boaty and their build quality is quite poor. Having owned a Mk3 I can say that without fear of reprisal. Later ones do have twin airbags though if it's safety you're after. My mate's just bought a 1996 T5 Volvo Estate for £3500. Serious performance and it would take some impact to destroy it. I didn't realise Corrado's performed badly in a crash.
  8. I'd keep it until it dies mate. Gotta be worth £1500-£2000
  9. Spotted this G60 for sale down South (Eire) http://cars.vage.ie/invision/index.php? ... 3238a472dd Works out at around £6500 stirling. Gotta be the most expensive G60 I've ever seen. Do you think it's worth it??
  10. I'm sure there's plenty of folk have a standard one fitted. A quick look through the Member's Rides section should reveal some pics. If you look at the pics of my old silver 16v C via the link in my signature. You'll see I had a chrome handbrake sleeve. This fitted perfectly and came from http://www.trimsport.co.uk The only catch was I had to keep the standard black handbrake button. Maybe someone else knows how to replace it?
  11. Can't get anything passed you guys! He's very fickle when it comes to cars :)
  12. Just to end the topic. My mate went back to test drive the Scirocco today. (couldn't drive it last night as its battery was dead) Got 3 miles then it started boiling the water! Nursed it back to the workshop. Diagnosis - cracked head or blown head gasket. Offered the trader £300 to take it away as it was. Trader nearly burst into tears! Said it stood him £700. Wouldn't accept his offer. I'd say it'll probably end up scrapped
  13. He's going back to see the Trader today. If he won't negotiate on price then it's a no go. Unfortunatley there are no other Sciroccos for sale locally and he isn't keen enough on one to travel to the mainland where there's loads. He has however found this... Good order , 15inch X spoke alloys , 1 year MOT , 11 months tax , loads of new parts fitted recently - cambelt , rear discs and pipes , headlamps , exhaust , good tyres.Stiffened suspension , new bushes. 140k miles. Auto with sport mode , Sony minidisc , excellent driving car. £950
  14. Schabak make little die-cast models. Unsure of the scale. http://www.schabak.de if I remember correctly.
  15. Must agree. Mine came with a Supersprint. Fits perfectly and gives a nice note. Doesn't bang on the rear axle at all. Only downsides are I hate the tailpipe (large round) and it breaks the rubber hangers every once in a while.
  16. Gotta agree Steve. Especially after doing a nationwide Autrader search. An '84 Storm with leather etc in need of a tidy can be had for £450. Trader will not budge on price unfortunatley. Oh well, it would have gone to a good home.
  17. Here's some pics of it from Autotrader http://tinyurl.com/5glbq
  18. Thanks for the advice so far. 8) My mate's just been to look at it. I couldn't get home from work in time to go with him :( It's a 1989 not 1990. Badged as a GT. Black with non-colour coded trim. 1.8 Carb with Weber carb fitted. Has VW teardrop style alloys. 114k miles. All old MOT's FVWSH Sunroof No electric gadgets Just had oil/filter change. Bodywork in very good condition for year, some slight bubbling around bottom of driver's door. The passenger door has been repaired and painted but not very well where somone's stuck a screwdriver through it to get in. The trader will not take any less than £800 for it. What do you reckon??
  19. A mate of mine has seen a nice 1990 Scirocco at a local 2nd hand dealers. It's black with VW steel rims on it. Dealer is looking £1000 but will probably take less. I know very little about these cars other than they're based on a Mk1 and seem to be well thought of in VW circles. Really looking for a little buyers guide. What are they worth? What engines did they come with? (I'm guessing something similar to Mk2 Golfs?) What are the common problems with them? Which particular bits fall prey to tin worm? Are parts readily available from the likes of ECP and GSF? Going with him to look at it tonight. Any advice you can offer would be appreciated.
  20. Milltek! You know it makes sense! Go back to their website Colin and listen to the videos again. Remember how impressed you were with the subtle grumble they make? The tailpipe will look fine mate. [;)]
  21. Happy days! Gotta get me a pair 8)
  22. Heh Heh! Welcome to our forum Colin. Make me an offer now and I'll keep my Mk3
  23. Sounds like a load of twaddle to me. Does it "enhance your lovelife" too?
  24. Very cool! 8) I have the Schabak G60 and VR6 models in Black and Red. Got a Mk3 Golf GTi too. Also have a sealed Revell Corrado Cabrio model kit. 1:24 scale. One day I'll get round to building it up! Corrado Transporter anyone?? http://www.vwcorrado.de/store/pd1107715 ... tegoryId=0
  25. Excellent! Don't suppose you could scan a copy of the article?
