  1. Oh dear! It seems someone is trying to belittle the Corrado VR6 in comparison to their Riced-up Civic VTi. http://www.octane.ie/cult/forum/showthr ... ge=1&pp=10 Reinforcements needed
  2. Yup! I got myself B16 VWC last year 8) How much was your "VW" plate?
  3. Wouldn't bother, unless you want a long list of niggly faults to try and bargain the price down with. How much is an AA Inspection anyway? As everyone else has said, use the buying guide and take your time. Try and buy a car from the Forum if possible, there have been some real good'uns on here recently. Autotrader seems to be full of 16v "Storms" at the moment. :D Happy Hunting!
  4. Mine is red and has black smoked inpros. 8) I think it looks good and I've had loads of positive comments.
  5. Ok, thanks for that Kev. 8)
  6. Pablo_VR6 very kindly let me borrow his VAG COM lead last night. Got the usual "Engine Speed Sensor" fault because the engine wasn't running. The other, rather puzzling fault was... Address 01 ------------------------------------------------------- Controller: 021 906 258 CP Component: MOTOR 2,8L 6-Zyl. Coding: PMC 1 HS Shop #: 0261203565 2 Faults Found: 00735 - Potentiometer in Positioning Motor for Air recirculation Flap (G143) 31-00 - Open or Short to Ground Presumably my engine's reported as a 2.8 because the software's American (I hope!) For the 00735 fault, when I look up the DTC list refers to this.. 01247 EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve -N80 Is this by any chance refering to the Carbon Cannister? My car doesn't have one and all the pipes for it have been plugged or placed out of the way.
  7. Hi John, Campbells of Coleraine offer good deals on Classic Insurance locally. Mileage is limited to 5,000 per annum IIRC. Most English companies won't even give you a standard policy, never mind a Classic one! James Campbell & Sons Insurance Brokers - 028 2073 2828 Also, post a message up on the local Club GTI forum. http://www.clubgti-ni.com\forum Good Luck Mike

    auto shift light

I was enquiring about part numbers for these yesterday. Shift light bulb: 191 927 149 C bulb holder with bulb (From >> 50-N-020 000* ) £8.35 1H2 927 149 bulb holder with bulb (F 50-P-000 001>>) ......Deleted!.... Thanks to John Wintle. I'd guess the bulb is white, as there's a large green filter under the shift cover. Probably just a matter of rigging up a blue filter to replace it. Which Quality Street's have the blue wrapper? :)
  9. Nice one. Similar fault happens on Pug 307s. The starter motor keeps going until the engine bay bursts into flames! Glad you got it sorted.

    Door Adjustment

Having problems with my driver's side door. The leading edge of it is rubbing against the front wing when I close it. It's got so bad now that the paint on the door and wing has worn through! Is there any way of adjusting the door so it closes normally again? What would you recommend for touching up the paint? I see Halfords do a Flash Red touch-up kit, anyone tried it?
  11. I did a tour of all the motor factors in Bangor and Newtownards a few weeks ago and couldn't find any mate. Motoglass on the Ormeau Road might be a possibility. I've always got mine from Powerbulbs. You can get 10% discount if you're in the Corrado Club  or Free Blue Vision sidelight bulbs (which only fit the rear number plate lights on a C)
  12. I can recommend the Osrams Super H3's Pablo. Philips Vision Plus for the H4's. This and a wiring loom are the second mod I've done to all my Corrado's First being Lupo Wipers.
  13. Cam Position Sensor it is then. Just so happens I have a spare VR6 C lying in the driveway to swap one off. Where do I find said sensor and how do I go about swapping it? Thanks Mike
  14. Prise off the little unit that contains the lights and sunroof switch. There's a circuit board on it that may have a dry joint. If you're handy with a soldering iron you can fix it yourself. I know Mk3 Golf and early nineties Passats have interchangeable units with the later Corrado's. Not sure about the early interior ones though. Try someone breaking an early C on the Forum.
  15. Thought mine had sharper throttle response, but that's because of the FPR/CAI and ported throttle. No idea what the fly figure was. He gives the results on a crappy piece of handwritten paper. No torque or fly wheel figures. Think I'll take it up to DS later in the month and get it done right.
  16. Excellent. I see "Quantum Leap" is written on the side of it. Is that coz it warps time it moves so fast?
  17. ....AND IT ONLY PRODUCED 148BHP AT THE WHEELS!! Thats 7BHP less than a standard one! Reckon I should have been around 160BHP at least! :?: List of mods I've done is.... 1/ Supersprint s/s exhaust and de-cat. 2/ Turn 2 Induction Kit. 3/ Ported throttle body. 4/ Fuel Pressure Regulator. Car has 94,000 miles on it and the previous owner had a supercharger fitted to it (if that makes a difference) C.O. readings were between 4.2 and 5.0 all the way through. So the fueling is ok. Not a happy chappy. Mate with a VR6 golf produced 144BHP @ the wheels. (s/s exhaust) Another mate's 16v Mk2 produced 140BHP @ the wheels (it's had some engine work) Why are there 10 dead horsies under my bonnet?
  18. Focal components are highly regarded on the Forum. Any 5.25 inch speaker will fit the door pods. 6x4's for the rear.

    Metallic Grey

How about Ice Grey Violet? 8) Not quite what you've described, but very rare and very nice. Ice Grey Violet Pearl Effect. Paint Code - R3 LK4U 94.
  20. Yup, Laser's the main problem over here. I'm thinking a good laser/radar detector with GPS (only a matter of time before more cameras are installed). Team that with a "Blinder" to deal with the Laser signal and I should be fairly safe
  21. Thanks for that guys. Might get involved in the current Group Buy.
  22. The "before" pics of my 16v show the standard 90mm spoiler. Looks like a feckin snow plough. I then got a smaller VR6 50mm spoiler from GPC and had it sprayed Light Grey Metallic at the same time as my Reiger grille. Although it was the right shade of paint, it took to the spoiler strangely and never quite looked right. If you really want one of the 90mm ones, my other VR6 came with one and I'd prefer a 50mm. Swap ya?

    Rythmic humming

Jack the front up, rotate the wheels and feel for vibration in the strut. If it vibrates, get the bearings done.
  24. 50 mm from spoiler looks better IMO. Take a look at the before and after shots of my old 16v in the gallery. Also, the 90 mm one is in danger of getting ripped off once you lower the car and attempt a speed bump. I've bought a Turn2 CAI kit, hopefully it will improve my performance a little. Congrats on keeping the car BTW. 8) C u at the next Club GTI meeting! :)
