  1. The pic BANANAMAN posted is actually of a Skoda Tudor. Do I search in Google and it should throw up a few better shots.

    VW gauge panel

Their website is http://www.gpcvwaudi.com I'm just off the phone with them, unfortunately they have no gauges or gauge surrounds left and can no longer order them  However, they pointed me in the direction of http://www.europaspares.com who can supply VDO gauges at a reasonable price. If you can get the gauges and don't mind a bit of DIY, it is possible to make a surround for them. Think someone else on the Forum was going to post instructions on how to do this.
  3. Bought a chrome "Corrado" rear badge and chrome "16v" grille badge from GPC last week.
  4. Hi, How awkward is it to change the gearbox oil on an 1.8 16v? I believe this can make a significant difference to the feel of the gearchange. Plus I think the oil in mine is over 12 years old :!: Can someone advise of the steps involved and recommend which oil I should use please. Thanks :D

    16v Head

I was thinking of having some head work done to my 1.8 16v. This would have meant taking the car off the road for a while. However, a friend has an earlier 16v head for sale for £100. Apparently, these earlier engnes have a "sweeter" cam. Is this true? I might buy this head and have it ported/polished then just swap my old one out. May fit a Mk2 50mm manifold too. I know very little about this sort of thing. Does it sound feasible? Are there any other mods I could make to this "spare" head before fitting? Cheers!
  6. Hi Guys, My brakes are giving me a real nightmare at the moment. They've been a recurrent problem since I bought my Corrado. I had to replace all four calipers within 2 months of buying the car (all bleed nipples were seized solid.) :( Then I needed a new master cylinder. :( Then, one of the four new calipers developed a leak. So I bought a seal kit for this. 2 months later the same thing happened again, so I bought another caliper. Finally the flexi hose from the reservoir to the master cylinder perished. :( Anyway, the problem now is air getting into the system somewhere. I'm having to bleed the brakes every month. They stay solid for a week or two, then start to become spongy again. When I pump the pedal a squeeking noise comes from the rear of the car. Could this be the brake compensation valve at the back that adjusts braking when the car is carrying load? :?: If so, could someone get me the part number for this and whether it's difficult to replace DIY? Cheers
  7. Yeah, photo journal sounds good. Then if it looks too complicated we can get you to do it on exchange :)
  8. Hi Chris, Thanks for the compliment :) Would you believe I wasn't even looking for a Corrado when I bought mine. I was test driving Calibras and saw the C languishing on a forecourt. Of course, once I drove it I fell in-love and the rest is history. Light Grey Metallic is a lovely colour though, the only colours I'd prefer are Satin Silver or Blackberry Metallic. Anyway.... Would you be able to post instructions and pics on building a short shift kit. If it's as cheap and easy as you reckon I'm sure loads of people on the Forum would do it. Cheers
  9. Hi, How much is one of these? And where can I get one??

    Press button

Are those red and green buttons either side of your coin holder? What do they do :?:
  11. Just wondered if anyone has fitted Audi door handles? If so, can you give me an idea of approximate cost and the parts/procedure involved. Thought about the smoothed de-locked look, but I definately prefer the Audi handles. 8) Cheers

    Handbrake Gaiter

I got a nice chrome handbrake handle from http://www.trimsport.co.uk last week. Fitted perfectly, although you have to remove the plastic gaiter from the handbrake and get the part number off the handbrake itself before ordering. I've also ordered a leather gaitor from Snappy Gaitors to replace the crappy plastic one. £12 for a plain black one plus £1 postage. Their number is 01270 580730. Other styles are available, but plain black suits my black leather interior best.
  13. Just ordered a few interior bits from http://www.trimsport.co.uk Thought the Club Members out there might be interested to know they still have a few CCGB Gear Knob Badges left. They simply replace your original badge, adhesive supplied. From the description I was given, they sound quite nice. Price £5 plus a few pence postage.
  14. I WAS getting around 360 miles from a full tank (12 Gallons) before I drilled my airbox :( Now I'm getting around 260. On a different note, do you guys find your MFA gives an accurate depiction of your MPG? Mine generally seems ok.
  15. Hmmm :? If you mean "reset the mfa" as in zeroed the settings on both memories... Yes, I do this everytime I fill the C up. It's not possible that I may have upset one the the connections onto the airbox whilst removing them? Would this have that effect? All connections seem fine and secure. :?:
  16. Knew someone would suggest that :D No, it's been 3 weeks now and the "driving with my ears" phase is well over
  17. Just looking on http://www.eurocarparts.com for something else..... Noticed the following Part No. 828440750 Trim "RH Bonnet Water Deflector" There's a LH one as well Part No. 82844740 Could with be the mysterious scuttle panel??
  18. I recently drilled my airbox, following the instructions on the Scots CCGB site. I'm still using the standard airfilter (can't source a K&N locally) Before I performed this mod I usually got between 29 - 32 MPG on my 16 mile journey to/from work. :) Since drilling the airbox, I've been getting 19 - 23 MPG  Even on a long, easy drive I'm now getting 26 MPG where I used to get 35 MPG or so :( Does this sound right to other peeps who've done this :?: :?:
  19. I got a decent set of "Crown" quality carpet mats from Eurocarparts. :) They fit perfectly and have a plastic "Corrado" badge on the driver's side. Very happy with them, now 18 months old and barely worn. Set me back £25. 8)
  20. I've changed the coolant on mine. I flushed the system through with Rad Flush and cold water. Then refilled with G12+. G12+ was created because of the issues with mixing G11 and ordinary G12. G12+ CAN be mixed with G11 without gelling. Available from you're friendly neighbourhood VW Stealer. See my previous thread: http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=646 The upshot of this was, you need 3 x litres of G12+ and about 3 litres of distilled water to refill the coolant system 8) Good Luck!

    Cupholders

This is a really popular topic on the Yahoo Group  Anyone installed cupholders in their Corrado??
  22. The fact so many of us are IT Professionals helps explain why the Forum's so busy during the day. :D Picture lots of guys in their mid-to-late twenties sitting surfing the Net all day 8)
  23. Yup! ANOTHER Geek :D I work for Fujitsu Services in Belfast. We run "Managed Networks" for many of the Civil Service branches over here. I'm a "Windows NT Specialist" apparently! Currently studying for my MCSE (gets me out of the office on courses) :) Once that's complete, I wouldn't mind doing CCNA nightclasses like Jims16v. I agree that Security is were the $$ is. Might do nightclasses in motor maintenance first. Helps to be a DIY mechanic when you own a Corrado :D Still, it ain't all bad. There are so few Corrados on the roads over here that mine turns even more heads
  24. Folks, In anticipation of flushing my coolant system and filling up with G12+, I have bought: 2x Litres of G12+ 2.5 Litres Distilled water 2 x Litres of Anti-freeze Just want to check I have the procedure correct.... 1/ Drain existing coolant. 2/ Flush system by running tap water via hose throught the cooling system with the engine running and the cabin heater on hot full blast. 3/ When water runs clear, reseal system and fill with G12+ & distilled water & anti-freeze. Is this correct? Also, where should I drain the coolant from? Is there a valve under the radiator or something? What ratio of Coolant/Water/Anti-freeze should I use? What capacity is the cooling system roughly. No doubt a few others will have the same questions. Thanks In Advance
